To those trying to treat the USA as Uniquely Evil.
You sweet summer child. Human tribes have been being evil to each other for a looong time.
From the truely mind shattering crimes of the Japanese as documented by the actions of UNIT 731 vivisecting THOUSANDS of people without anesthesia to watch how their bodies die from diseases. Including pregnant women.
The countless genocides carried out by every country with enough control to create a standing army, culminating in the holocaust.
The endless instances of slavery and forced labor. By Germans, Russians, japanese, chinese, koreans, on and on and on.
The US government like virtually all governments is repugnant in that it aims to serve a selection of a few rather than people as a whole. It is evil. But it is not uniquely evil. It is not an evil we will never see again.
To pretend it is, is to erase responsibility of us as humans engaged in our tribal organizing and the responsibility we have not to give in to the dark impulses that structure makes so easy to manipulate.
Nobody is uniquely evil. It is the actions of individuals being solely self interested that let's ordinary evil.. gain extraordinary power. Burke is often quoted as the source of the phrase "All that's needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." But the most glaring question to ask about that saying is. "If you did nothing, in the face of evil.. are you still a good man?"
I would argue. No...and so i find that a statement that we actually know was written by burke to be far more worthwhile. "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle."
Find those who see the Evil of our government. Associate. Find those who recognize the evil that this individualist mindset has built and fight against it, ripping that evil out at its root... but recognize that you can't do that. If you try to tell yourself and us. We are, or were, uniquely evil. All you'll do is plant the seeds for the next vile government be it here or somewhere else after all. It couldn't happen here... the Japanese were uniquely evil... the nazi's were uniquely evil, the British and their East India Company were... uniquely... evil...
