The Hunchback of Notre Dame the Musical has been having a very successful run at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey after sold-out shows at the La Jolla Playhouse in California. It is scheduled to close this weekend (4/5/2015) and I would hate to have it fade into the memories of Disney past. Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame has always had a special place in my heart for reasons I will not bore you with here but the musical adaptation brought to life by such amazing actors such as Michael Arden and Patrick Page affected countless people who were fortunate enough to see it. There is a demand from the public to see this musical continue on it's journey. There are even some Tumblr blogs devoted entirely to it and the numbers of followers continues to grow. This show may be darker than Disney would normally produce (Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast for example) yet the audience response has echoed through the cathedral walls asking for more. Erik Liberman has retweeted many of the audiences responses on twitter and all of it has been about how much of an impact and thought provoking the show has been. One person even admitted to finally finding the courage to come out to their family. These moments are only experienced after a night of intimacy at the theatre. Please do not let this show become a production of "Someday". Please bring it to Broadway where the world can experience the Heaven's Light of Quasimodo's plight.
