i love JOYRICH clothes. is it possible to do floral print hair coloring? i wanna match my jacket, how mind blowing would that be? barbz

HmMmMmM!! The method in which you color your hair to display a floral pattern would entail quite a few different elements, but I would not call it impossible. Basically it would involve flat ironing your hair, creating a flawless curtain of exactly 0 degrees, at natural fall, and then "painting" the floral design on the hair, and oxidizing the color. The real issues would be that the hair would have to be flat ironed every single day there after, until the pattern was either cut off or colored over. Also I would anticipate spending quite a few hours at this salon for this process, as you certainly would not want to attempt this procedure at home.

It may also be a very good idea to take a photo of the pattern for any (less cool) stylist who may not be familiar with JOYRICH ;-)

How do I get a hairdresser to give me a haircut that represents me, not xomething everyother girl in my school has or has had in the before?

Talk to your stylist. Schedule a complimentary consultation, and let her know that your concern is that you don't feel like an individual, give her some examples of things that you really enjoy. Things that you feel represent who you are stylistically, and help her understand what you're trying to achieve... give her some creative lee-way that way she is working with you to find something unique yet complimentary to your face shape and hair type.

any thoughts on threading?! I keep hearing that it's so much better for your eyebrows, but why?

as far as I understand it is better for your skin, esp if you're diabetic, or have a tendency to break out after a wax. Other than that I don't know what other benefits there could be. what I will say is being threaded HURTS a million times more than being waxed. Good Luck.

PROM is freakin me out!!! I don't want to look like I am getting married, but I don't have the money to spend a ton on my up-do... I just don't know what o do! My date is like my dream date and I don't want to seem like i tried to hard or not enough! Please help, anything....

I can't lie to you, when I read this I totally had a flash back of my Senior Year! My heart kind of stopped for a second. I love it!

Okay Prom esentails, Hair, Make-Up, Dress. everything else you can wing it! I think right now up-do's are moving in a really interesting direction. If you want to do something more classic, like a french twist, krimp your hair first. it'll give it a little bit of an edge, and be sleek and clean but still fashion forward. A lot of styles walking down the runways, and red carpets are "messy" we're seeing a lot of updo's that appears to have just been thrown up, but "happen to look fabulous"... also believe it or not Pony Tails are making the comback of the century. some are sleek through the tops and sides and then full and voluminous in the fall, some are off to the side, some have "puffs" some have curls, I mean literally these things are every where. Most of that doesn't sound bridal to me at all, and if your got fresh clean make-up and a fabulous dress you'll be ready to rock the night with your dream guy!! I feel like I have been kinda MIA too... Just recently my life got like 10 million times more demanding. That doesn't mean I don't care about it though! I am still here to answer your questions, and I write out bits and pieces when I feel inspired to share with you.

as far as make-up goes, what products do you recommend for troubles skin?

A lot of make-up lines have products for skin that is dry or oily or acne prone. You just want to make sure you ask whoever your buying from. I know for me I tend to have more trouble with cleansers and make-up removers as opposed to the make-up itself. I really like clinique for their foundadtions, and have never had a skin problem that resulted from using it. AVEDA offers all natural, hypo-allergenic products, and I love them all (esp their lip gloss///even though that has nothing to do with skin care) But sometimes I wish they offered eyeshadows that are bolder and brighter.

I've always been I guess 'Preppy' but I love the look of Heavy eyeliner with a smokey eye... but when I try to do it it makes me feel gothic... I don't even know...

Fashion is moving a million miles a minute! You can be "preppy" and still have darker, heavier, bolder eyes! Think Carrie Underwood, Britney Spears, or Leah Rimini! Even Little Miss Taylor Swift has rocked some Darker eyes from time to time! You don't have to be "gothic" to change your look up! Spend a day in front of the mirror playing with application and colors, and soon enough you'll have a fierce smokey eye that you can recreate any time you want!

I was just wondering.... like do you think it's wrong if my boyfriend says he doesn't want me to cut my hair?

He probably means that he thinks you're very pretty the way that you are! That You don't have to try to do anything more to impress him because he finds you Gorgeous!

There is a difference between someone saying THEY don't THINK you should cut your hair; and someone TELLING YOU NOT TO cut your hair.

If he feels about you the way that this sounds to me, honestly you can do whatever you want to do with your hair, and he'll still think you're stunning.

But if he is trying to control the way you look, or trying to tell you what you MAY or MAY NOT do, You need to kick him to the curb! Or eventually, if you differ from the way you look right now, he'll kick you to the curb, and upgrade :-/

For My fellow Beauticians out there.

I have a few of you following me that are stylists or are in training to become a stylist. I know sometimes it's hard to find inspiration, or break out of your comfort zone.

...I've had a lull or two myself...

Recently I have taken to head sheeting ideas that float around aimlessly within my mind. I will lay out angles and different cutting techniques in ways I have never seen anyone else do, and it has been EXTREMELY inspirational to me.

I almost can't wait for a a certain 'type' of guest to come in for a visit so that I can try out some of the new cuts I have created! Or to get that guest that says 'Do whatever you want.'

I remember when I was in beauty school I hated head sheeting, but I think that was because at the time I was so overwhelmed with all of the information coming at me from every direction. Head sheeting felt like home work, and paper work when I was dying to dive in and get hands on! It's got a different vibe now that it's not required, and no one is going to be judging it telling me if my angles are correct or not...

Food for thought, maybe you'll enjoy head sheeting if you give it a second shot.

My hair if so frizzy! I keep asking my hair dresser what I should do, and all she is says is flat iron it. I DO FLAT IRON IT! ...so confused

Are you using a heat protector?! If not you may want to start. Also check to see if your straightener is made of ceramic PLATES, as opposed to being ceramic coated. That might help.

since you're seeing a hairdresser, I assume that your hair doesn't need trimming, because sometimes the answer is as simple as that.

Your hair may be dry, in that case I would suggest a deep conditioning treatment. AVEDA has a line named DRY REMEDY, one of the products is called 'Moisturizing Treatment Masque.'

What you'll do : Wash your hair. Rinse. Ring out additional water. Tousle your tresses. Apply Treatment masque evenly. Cover hair with a processing (plastic) cap. Wait 25 minutes. Rinse.

I think I want a perm but my mom told me no, because it will damage my hair. will it?

Perms change the chemical make up of your hair, specifically they alter your disulfied and peptide bonds, so they can be damaging if during the process they are not monitored or rinsed properly.

If your hair is in good condition, it should be able to handle being permed. But if your hair has been lightened with bleach at all, I would not recommend it.

Prom is coming up, and I have bob, what can I do with my hair? My dress is silver and black, strapless, short and kinda 'modern' I'm lost and don't know what will be cute :-( Please help!

There are lots of ideas that you can play with, I suggest doing something 'Modern' like your dress... Maybe you could 'loose curl' or 'Messy curl' your hair and pin the sides more sleekly to create a cute GIRLY Mohawk effect, be sure to emphasize 'Girly' 'Messy' and 'Modern' to your stylist and you'll look Fabulous!
