       ❝ h...HARRIS ? ❞ honestly, she was terrified. they hadn’t exactly planned this ( at least she hadn’t. she couldn’t say what was going on in his mind at this point. ), but she obviously had to tell him. it was only a matter of time before judith found out, and if he heard it from his mother instead of her... so she sucked in a breath and nudged open the door to his office. ❝ i um...can i TALK TO YOU for a minute ? i have some news.... big news. ❞

       it’s been a long time since she’s made dinner for him, but she needs something to keep her hands busy. when he gets home, she’s only going to PAUSE for a moment before pulling him in for a sweet, slow kiss.

“Hey! Bobby said I could find you here. Can you spare a minute or two for a chat?”

       ❝ OLIVIA ! ❞ ann’s grinning as she steps around the horse she’s grooming, leaning against one of the posts in the stables. ❝ of course i can. what’s up ? everything okay ? ❞

JR:

“Ain’t that the truth,” JR chuckled.  “Sue Ellen is the same way.”  He looked at the little girl in his arms.  “You’re gonna like your aunt Sue Ellen.  Everyone likes her.  Or at least they respect her.  That’s better.”  JR turned back to Ann.  “Surprised me actually.  Seein’ as how I was never very invovled with John Ross as a baby.  But megan here is easier than I thought.”

       ❝ easier considering who her parents are, you mean ? ❞ she laughed. ❝ poor girl’s gonna have a stubborn streak a mile wide. and...whatever the reason, THANK YOU for all the help with her. i’m glad you two get along. like mother, like daughter i guess. ❞ she flashed him a wink.

EMMA:

“What if he’s not?  What if he starts being bad again?  He was good in the beginning last time too.  What if Bobby comes back and you decide you like him better?  I think I’d rather be miserable than lose another family.”

       ❝ honey, listen to me. bobby and i were over the second he decided to abandon us without a word. i’m not makin’ that mistake twice. and if YOUR FATHER starts actin’ up again, i will kick his ass to the curb, shotgun in hand, okay ? i don’t want to be hurt again either, but...i really think this can work. ❞

JR:

“Come here little girl,” JR snickered as he took his niece. “She’s got good taste, I’ll give her that.”  She always seemed to want to cling to JR when he was around.  “Besides, I can’t see this little angel causin’ any fuss at all. Look at that face.”

       ❝ ah but those are the girls you gotta watch out for. pretty as a picture but smart and spitfire enough to break your heart. ❞ she gave jr a grateful smile. ❝ THANK YOU...for bein’ so good with her. it really takes a weight off my mind. ❞

EMMA:

“Sort of,” she admited.  “I don’t understand this.  And it scares me.”  She didn’t want to be happy if someone was just going to take it away again.

       ❝ i get that, ❞ she murmured, ❝ but i didn’t....it wouldn’t have lasted this long if i wasn’t sure. after bobby...the last thing i expected was to be in another relationship, ESPECIALLY with your father. but he...he’s good to me this time around, and he’s willing to tell your grandmother to go to hell, which frankly, already puts him MILES ahead of the harris i married. ❞

JAKE:

Jake smiled as he turned to her.  “Can’t you tell?  It’s always about you.”

       ❝ well...aren’t you a smooth talker, ❞ she laughed, ❝ i love you. you KNOW that ? ❞

       ann’s brow furrows in confusion when her daughter makes her way into the kitchen. she looks...troubled, somehow. ❝ EMMA ? what’s goin’ on ? you look like something’s bothering you. is this...is it about me and your father again because i...we just want you to be happy, more than ANYTHING. ❞

“He better be.  A pretty lady like you deserves to be kissed often.  And well.  Besides, this is harmless trouble.  something to keep my brother on his toes.  He needs that you know.”

        ❝ he’s got AN INFANT, jr, i think that’s keepin’ him plenty on his toes. aren’t we little one ? ❞ ann grinned at her daughter, who quickly reached for her uncle with a grin. ❝ you mind holdin’ her for a minute ? she squirms anymore and she might end up HURTIN’ HERSELF. ❞

“Oh come on now.  A lil’ trouble every now and then keeps you on your toes.  Keeps you young.  Or are you complaining beause my brother isn’t kissing you right anymore.”
