@ideafocusing
I am currently doing my last photography assignment for my college work, can you give me some tips on creating interesting self-portraits like yours. As I'm very interested in your style. -J
Hi J,
Thank you for your interest ^^
I’m no native, sorry for my English.
I use a lot of tricks to create my photos.
- 1. I use the rule of thirds in my photos, especially when I’m cropping. I try to bring in each of the nine squares some detail, it makes a photo look interesting and complicated. Also I try to use lines, similarity etc. in the composition. I like to crop a photo as close as I can to focus on the main thing.
- 2. I use textures and details to create an interesting photo.
- 3. I like to darken photos and remove the distraction colors.
- 4. I like to experiment with lighting, trying to find special lighting.
- 5. I use posing to create a good and interesting composition.
The helpful thing to make a good art is analyse works that you like and try to understand what things/tricks make these photos look interesting for you, to see and collect as many works as you can and analyse them, not to copy them, just to find the way to make your own interesting art.
I attached some photos with notes to help understand what I mean.
Good luck in your art! :)
