my best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in ur life and it can become a vice if you play your cards right
A/N: I have so many ideas about Ken exploring the Real World I don't think my notes are big enough for itâŠ
Summary: Ken plays Uno for the first time, and the Real World Reader helps him out.
Word count: 657 words;
Have a good reading!
Ken never played board games. Of course, in Barbieland he had⊠Cards that had to be placed on top of other cards of the same type without any rules? Well, I think everyone will agree that this is a bit outside the scope of the conventional notion of board games, so the bottom line is still the same: Ken has never played a real board game. And you, as his Real World tour guide, decided to fix that by starting with elementary Uno.
"KenâŠ" You tried your best to hold back the urge to look at Ken's cards that he had so naively put on display. And also laughter. Because his carelessness could not but cheer you up. "You need to hide your cards or I can spy on them and beat you easily."
"Oh".
Ken turned them upside down in an instant.
"You didn't get to see them, did you?"
You finally opened your eyes and looked unhindered into Ken's worried face.
âNo, don't worry. I'll win in a fair fight, so⊠And now it's my turn.'
You didn't have a choice, so you laid out the color selection card. In fact, you stuck it out until the very end because you knew for sure that KenâŠ
âAh, this is the card you were telling me about, isn't it? This, umâŠâ
âŠwill have some problems with this.
âThis card means I can now choose any suit for the next card. And I chooseâŠ"
You thought for a moment, although there was no need for it. You could normally say the color you have more of, or just the first color that comes to mind. But it was not difficult to notice that Ken, or rather his game, was in a bad situation... This was evidenced by at least a dozen cards in his hands. You didn't want Ken to lose and get discouraged in his first Uno game, so you decided to play along with him a little. Sometimes breaking the rules can serve a good cause.
"âŠBlue!"
Ken's face immediately darkened. He frowned and you realized that, it seems, in your efforts to do the best, you only made it worse.
"No! I'd rather choose... Green?"
Ken's face lit up and filled with pride, not hiding his sincere emotions at all. And you were finally able to exhale.
You played for a while longer, and you did your best to push Ken to victory. And now, at the most decisive moment, when you both had only one card left, you were quite ready to give this win to your opponent. However, it seems that Ken had other plans.
He decisively threw a reverse card into the deck. You're about to take a breath to shout out congratulations on his first victory, but...
"Oh, I think my card is the wrong color... I'll have to take more, am I right?"
You stare in confusion at the other card in Ken's hand. But a moment ago he had only one!
"Ken, didn't you already have Uno?"
"No, I had two cards! Uh-huh⊠Yeah."
Ken was a lousy liar. He couldn't even keep a straight face during the game, and then there was the lie, so you easily uncovered his little scam. It looks like you weren't the only one who wanted your opponent to win.
You smiled to yourself, enjoying Ken's sweet act. Even though he didn't know much about the game, he was still trying to help you. Your smile became all too obvious as you realized this.
"Okay... I propose a draw, what do you think?"
"Does that mean we both win, or does that mean we both lose?"
"It means that we ended this match on equal terms. And now we can go eat ice cream as a prize."
Ken smiled broadly, unable to contain his feelings. His smile was even happier than if he had just won the game.
summary: ken and barbie had planned for a fun day out, but stressful interruptions will lead to confessions..
warnings: reader gets catcalled/hit on, little car crash (no one is hurt) ken is a sweetie pie
word count: 1.7k
authors note: hereâs part 3! so so sorry for the long wait iâve been super busy lately but i hope yall like it đ also those who sent in requests I DO SEE THEM and i will get to them as soon as i can. which may be awhile but i will get to them pinky swear đ€
It was once again another normal day in Barbieland. It had been a few weeks now since that party at the beach, and you and Ken had been getting closer ever since.
Maybe a bit too close..
Whatever. It wasnât like you had planned to develop a not-so-little crush on him. Besides, you two were friends! That was enough.
Or maybe not..
You shake your head in protest, trying to silence the thoughts inside. Today was going to be fun, and your stupid newfound feelings for him werenât going to get in the way of that.ïżŒ
You walk over to your pink vanity, smoothing out your hair and slipping on a cute sundress.
You knew youâd never actually admit your feelings towards Ken. However affectionate he was towards you, you knew he would only ever see you as a friend. After all - though it hadnât been reciprocated - the only Barbie he ever had eyes for was Blondie.
But she was gone now..
You snap out of your thoughts once more, feeling a sort of guilt.
You canât think these things! Today is supposed to be fun. Innocent. Just having a good time. With your friend.
Today you and Ken had planned to get ice cream together, and then head back to the dreamhouse for a fun movie night. You had been anxiously awaiting it since the last time you had seen Ken.
Which was yesterday.
But hey, could anyone blame you?
Youâre pacing around the room excitedly when you hear a voice from down below.
âHey Barbie!â
You turn your head to find Ken looking up at you from down on the street, and the thumping of your heart intensifies even more.
âHi Ken!â
Gracefully, you float down to the ground, maintaining your perfect appearance.
âYou ready?â he asks excitedly, and you nod.
âMhm! Weâll take the car.â
âReally?!â
âMhm.â
Ken opens the car door for you like the gentleman he is, then walks around and gets in the passengerâs side. You pull out of the driveway, and on the way to the ice cream shop, you turn to notice Ken staring at you.
âWhat is it?â You laugh.
âOh, nothing,â he replies, smiling to himself.
You believed him, but the attention made your stomach churn. He couldnât have been staring at you because - no! That was impossible. Which means he must have been staring at you for some other reason - possibly not a good one. You frantically look into the rearview mirror, checking for any imperfections. Was there something stuck in your teeth? Was your hair out of place? Why had he been staring like that? It mustâve been something. It was then when you heard Ken yell.
âBarbie, look out!â
In your haze of insecurity you had taken your eyes off the road for too long, swerving off the street and into a nearby fire hydrant.
âOhh..â you groan, covering your face with your hands. Youâre so embarrassed, you want to cry.
âHey, Barbie, itâs okay..â Ken tries to console you.
âMmm..â you cry into your hands, while fireman and mechanic Barbie arrive on the scene trying to clean up your mess.
âSee?â Ken smiles sympathetically. âItâs okay.â
âAre either of you hurt? Should I call for Doctor Barbie?â Fireman Barbie asks.
âNo, weâre alright, thanks,â Ken replies, while you wipe tears from your eyes.
âOkay, good. Do you guys need a ride?â Says Mechanic Barbie, and Ken looks at you waiting for your answer.
âUh .. thatâs ok, weâll walk, if thatâs alright with you, Ken,â you sniffle.
âSure is,â he smiles, before abruptly getting out of the car and walking around to the driverâs side, and holding out his hand to you.
You look up at him with nervous eyes, taking his hand and opening the car door. You step out, and he hugs you.
âIâm sorry,â you sob. âToday was supposed to be fun, and I ruined it!â
âYou havenât ruined anything, Barbie. Câmon, letâs get to that ice cream shop,â Ken comforts.
âDonât worry Barbie, weâll have the car fixed up and back at your dreamhouse by the end of the day,â Mechanic Barbie says reassuringly.
âThanks,â you sniffle, your face bearing a small smile.
Ken gently motions for the two of you to get going, and you follow, walking down the Barbieland boardwalk. You arrive at the ice cream shop and order. Ken gets Cotton Candy flavored, and you pick out your favorite flavor.
Youâre sitting at a picnic table outside the shop, peacefully enjoying your ice cream when you look up to see Ken giving you that stare again. Youâre about to say something about it when suddenly you hear a voice from behind you.
âLookin good, Barbie!â
You turn around to see enemy Ken, sitting a few tables away, looking at you with a smirk that was far from polite and a gaze that made you shiver with anxiety. Jesus Christ, could this day get any worse? You roll your eyes, ignoring him, and turning back around to face your Ken, you find him glaring at the other.
âI said, looking good, Bar-â
You hold your breath, and Ken stands up.
âBack off, Ken! Or Iâll beach you off!â
You look up at him in both shock and admiration, and the other Ken goes quiet.
âCome on, Barbie,â Ken says gruffly, and you follow. Walking back to your dreamhouse, neither of you say a word. Ken maintained an angry frown the entire walk, and you looked down at your feet sadly, fearing you had done something to cause Kenâs demeanor. Had you done something wrong? Was he mad you didnât just deal with Ken yourself? Was it the car? It felt like you had been messing up everything today. Itâd be no wonder if he was angry with you.
You arrive at home and he regains a little bit of his happy energy, or Kenergy, as he had lately been calling it. But, he still seemed off, and sitting down on your couch, there is still a bit of an uncomfortable tension between you two.
Before your movie, Ken asked if you wanted to make some popcorn, and with your approval got up to do so. When he returned, you couldnât help but ask.
âKen?â
âYes?â
âDid I do something wrong?â you ask somberly. You watch as his eyes fill with sadness and care.
âWhat? No, Barbie, why would you think that?â He softly asks.
âYou just seemed pretty angry after what happened with Ken, and I mean, I get it, I already screwed up crashing the car, and you shouldnât have to fight my battles for me-â
âBarbie. You did nothing wrong. Iâm sorry I made you think so. Youâre right, I was angry. I am angry, but not at you. Never at you.â
You blush at his sweetness, and he continues.
âListen, I was never mad about the car or anything else you did. When Ken did what he did, it just .. it really.. it pissed me off!â
âKen!â You giggle.
âSorry,â he smiles softly, before regaining his frown. âListen Barbie, you donât.. you donât deserve to be treated like that. And I know, who am I to talk, Iâm no better-â
âKen. You are. You are better.â
âThanks, Barbie.â
The two of you sit there quietly for a minute, before you hear a mumble of something come from him.
âYou know, it doesnât help that I..â
He instantly regretted even letting that small bit of info come out of his mouth, praying you hadnât heard him, but you must have.
âYou.. you what, Ken?â you almost whisper.
âN-nothing,â he says, turning away from you.
âNo, tell me!â
âNever mind, it doesnât matter.â
âYes it does.â
He puts his face in his hands and lets out a sigh.
âBarbie..â he says nervously.
âWhat is it. Please, youâre freaking me out!â
âBarbie.. I donât, I donât know how to say this.â
âJust try your best,â you say, your face genuine.
Another sigh.
âBarbie.. you know about how I used to be with Barbie, right?â
âOf course,â you swallow, trying to hide your bitterness. âEveryone knows that.â You knew what he was about to say, that he missed her, that he had simply been using you as a substitute after she left, that he-
âWhen I was with her.. I always felt like..â
âLike what, Ken?â your voice shakes.
âLike.. I was with her, just because I had to be. Like I just.. needed her. But not.. wanted? I donât know. It doesnât make sense. Whenever I was with her.. I was just kind of there. I donât know. I felt like I was there just to make her happy, and not really myself. Iâm not sure I ever really needed her, I just needed her to.. need me. Does that make more sense? I donât know..â he shakes his head.
âI think so,â you say quietly.
âWith you.. itâs.. itâs..â
You look up at him, confused.
âItâs different.â
âWhat do you mean, different?â
âItâs just,â he continues. âWith you I donât feel like I need to do anything. I can just enjoy being with you. Iâm not just doing it to do it. I do it, because it makes me happy. And.. I just hope.. it makes you happy too?â
âOf course it does,â you laugh sweetly.
âGood,â he laughs. âI guess what Iâm trying to say is..â
âWhat, Ken?â
His voice goes quiet, heâs mumbling and you can barely make out what heâs saying. âI think.. I think I..â
âYou think you what, Ken?â
âI think I..â
âI think I like you.â
Itâs so quiet you can barely make it out, but you do.
âYou like me?â
âMhm,â he nods.
âLike.. as more than friends?â you ask, bewildered.
âYeah.â
You process his words and suddenly everything clicks into place. The kind words, the lingering stares and angry protectiveness.
âLook, I totally get if you donât feel the same way, especially after everything I did-â
âKen.â
âYeah?â
âI like you too.â
âYou.. you do?â
âMhm.â You cup his face in your hands and give him a quick peck on the lips, and he blushes furiously.
For a moment the two of you sit there, smiling and content, before he asks,
âSoo.. does this make us boyfriend and girlfriend now?â
date headcanons for reader and ken at an amusement park?? (itâs kenâs first time there)
Ken's Memorable Amusement Park Date With You
ê° âč Ë Summary â itâs your day off so you decide to take Ken on a date going somewhere he hasnât been before. An Amusement Park!
contains of â Ken being extremely excited, you guys having a date, exploring different rides together, etc
Pairing â Ryan!Goslings Ken x Reader
Note â I really love this idea and I hope you enjoy it!! Im sorry if itâs too long!!! I try to make theses head-canons/fanfics really good and feed into your ideas so I hope you still love them!â
Sorry for any misspellings
Itâs Saturday morning and you wake up with the sun beaming in your eye, you instantly close your eyes at the sudden brightness, you cuss Ken out in your head because he forget to close the curtains because you guys went to bed, but you shook it off and went to the bathroom,
You brush your teeth, brush your hair, wash your face and do your skincare. You walk out and shut the door loudly accidentally forgetting Ken is still sleeping, luckily he was still asleep, you put your hair up in a bun and take your phone with you while you go to the kitchen, you freeze for a moment looking at the kitchen
â Iâm too lazy to cook why do I even bother â
You make your way to the living room couch and open up your phone deciding to scroll on instagram, you saw one of your mutals upload a picture of a flashbacks of last year going to the amusement park and that just lit up a bulb in your head. Taking.Ken.To.The.Amusement.Park.đ€Ż.
Youâve never actually thought if he has went before but you doubt it because he has talked about not being able to do much outside of doing beach stuff in Barbie land so you thought this would be the perfect opportunity to take him for his first time!! You buy the tickets online on the amusement parks website and decide to wake up Ken
Hours have passed by and itâs 2:00 pm, you and Ken went out for breakfast then stayed in and watched comedy movies together, it was fun and all but you were just too excited about the amusement park you guys were going too, but itâs finally time to tell Ken about it!!
â hey Ken!! So I planned something for us, I figured since we arenât doing anything today I thought I would plan a date for the both of us! â
Ken is off the roof bursted with joy and excitement, he was really excited for a date even at the thought of it, he was like a five year old getting to go get candy, he was throwing questions back to back to you about it, You simply has to tell him it was a surprise
You guys arrive at the park and Ken's excitement bubbled within him like a shaken soda can while you two were walking up to the gateway of the park, Ken marveled at the towering roller coasters and the swirling carousel horses, eagerly joining the endless stream of joyous visitors.
Ken is an emotional guy and at the sight of this really wanted to make him cry, he never saw this side of humans before, he observed all the smiles, laughter, food, and just the bright vibrant atmosphere of everything, he never wanted to leave and he hasnât even seen the best part!
The first stop was the Ferris wheel, a magnificent yet romantic ride that soared into the sky, you noticed kens nervousness about getting on something so high up so you squeeze Ken's hand, assuring him that everything would be alright. As the gondola ascended, his anticipation turned into awe, the stunning view stretching out before you guys like an immense tapestry of colors and laughter.
With each attraction you two encountered, Ken's confidence grew, He bravely got off his fears, trying the heart-pounding roller coasters, the dizzying spinning teacups, and even the swings that challenged the limits of gravity he was loving it all, and seeing you happy about it and seeing your smile just brighten his mood even more.
Here is probably his favorite, the trippy funhouse, a labyrinth of distortion and merriment, Ken's reflection in the carnival mirrors made him laugh at the exaggerated versions of himself, his tall figure becoming short and stout, then elongated like a stretched figurine,It was here that Ken's adventurous spirit found its match, unveiling the childlike whimsy that lay dormant within him for so long.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow upon the park, Ken spotted an enormous ice cream stand, seeing the bright and so many flavors of ice cream it just was calling his name and begged you if you guys can get one and of course you guys did.
Ken savored the sight of happy families, happy couples, laughter echoing like music and the occasional burst of fireworks illuminating the sky and admiring the cheerful symphony of amusement park delights, Ken couldn't help but feel grateful for his companion, you. who made this extraordinary adventure possible.
After it started hitting night time, it was time you guys left, Ken carried memories etched in his heart, forever treasuring the laughter, courage, and bond you guys had shared. He realized that an amusement park was so much more than just exhilarating rides and sugary treats â it was a realm where dreams, both big and small, came alive and can change people in many ways
That night, you and ken cuddle warmly on the couch, just relooking back at your guys favorite moments from today, kens amusement park adventure had opened his eyes to the wonders of the world, reminding him that sometimes, stepping outside one's comfort zone could lead to the most extraordinary and fulfilling experiences
And so, with a heart full of gratitude and a desire to embrace every opportunity, Ken vowed to welcome each new adventure with an open mind and a smile on his face, forever grateful for his partner, You. â€ïž
RAHHHH!! I hoped you guys enjoyed this and it satisfied you, give me more ideas and prompts to write about Ken! I might take long with requests because I want to make them long and good reading quality for your guys so thatâs why I might take 3 days to a week<3 I love you and remember mental health comes first đ«¶
hi!! i love your ken imagines and was wondering if you might be interested in writing something for maybeee a pining ken and an oblivious reader? đđđ„ș reader has totally convinced themselves that ken is just being super nice bc they've been showing him the ropes for living in the real world but he's actually just super smitten with them
Pining Ken With Oblivious Reader
hi!! thank you so much for requesting! sorry about the wait, i got a little stuck in the middle of writing this. i hope this is what you meant! if not, feel free to send another ask :)
iâm working on my other request right now, so i should be able to get it out soon. in the mean time, iâm open to other ken requests as well!
Ever since you met, youâve been all Ken can think about
Youâve always been so kind to him, helping him figure out the real world and everything
And he is nothing if not head over heels in love with youÂ
He canât help but admire you from afar
And the care and caution he uses when interacting with you is far beyond what he uses with other people
In fact, he gets teased by your guysâ friends all the time about it
As much as he wants to tell you, he just canât find the courage to do it straight out
You two are just friends
What if itâs too much too fast? Or you donât love him back? Or you never even liked him in the first place and were just putting up with him because youâre just that good of a person?
You love him too, obviouslyÂ
But you donât seem to pick up on any of the hints he drops, no matter how blatant they are
It started about a month ago, when Ken decided to start being more obvious with his affection for you
His hints were pretty tame at first: an extra compliment here, a few more texts here
âYouâre looking extra nice today, did you do something new with your hair?â
âGoodnight! Have the sweetest of dreams :)â
You were flattered, sure, but in your head he was just being nice in return
He kept that pace up for a while until he couldnât deal with it anymore
This was going agonizingly slow
So, recently, heâs been more obvious about it
Heâll bring you gifts all the time, hoping theyâre meaningful enough to get his point across
It gets to the lost where you have to be more assertive with how many presents he gives you a week
âKen, you really need to stop buying me so many things.â You scold him, though your tone is undermined by the warmth of your gaze as you look at what must be the 3rd gift box youâve gotten in 5 days.Â
âWhy?â He asks, a dejected kind of look falling over his face. âDo you not like them?â
His expression and cautious words catch your attention and you let out a little smile. Heâs really just the sweetest guy. âIf only he liked me..â
âNo, of course I do!â You reply, setting the present down and placing one of your (shaky) hands on his. âIâm just worried that youâre spending too much money on me.â
Miraculously, you donât notice the way the blush rises to his cheeks or his eyes widen at your touch. Ken takes a deep breath to steady himself before stumbling through his next words.
âThatâs like, impossible. Youâre worth more than all my money.â He says, cringing as soon as it leaves his mouth.
A part of you, a small and repressed part of you, swoons at his statement. However, the reason iâm your mind decides that this is just another example of Ken being Ken.
You donât see the little frown that falls back over his face when you donât seem to get the hint.
Ken, driven by newfound motivation, starts jumping at any opportunity to hint how smitten he is with you
Heâll remember the smallest things you say and bring them up later
âThe aquarium?â You inquire, looking at the building you two had just arrived at.Â
Ken smiles sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. He thinks for a moment, debating whether or not to tell the truth. He decides to be totally blunt.
âYeah. I, uh-â He clears his throat. âYou told me about that time when you were like 6 when your birthday at the aquarium got cancelled and you never really got to go back. So I just figured it could be fun or something-â
âYou remembered that?â You ask again, in slight disbelief.
Kenâs a really sentimental person, you know that. But he remembers that dumb story? You mustâve told him that months ago. A blush creeps onto your cheeks.
âOf course.â He shrugs.
Obviously, you end up having a great time at the aquarium (although he got scared in the shark tunnel and you had to hold his hand)
Your one-on-one hangouts evolve from casual outings to fancy restaurants quickly
The line between hanging out and going on a date is so blurred that neither of you are quite sure which it is
Not that youâre going to bring it up
One day you go out for a walk after dinner and end up sitting on a park bench, just talking
Ken looks over at you and noticed how perfect you look in the moonlight
Heâs tempted to tell you how he feels right then and there
But of course it doesnât work out like that
âThanks for hanging out today,â You say, brushing some of your hair out of your face.
Ken smiles in acknowledgment before clearing his throat a bit. He shifts his gaze from you, to the stars, back to you again. You can practically see his brain racing.
âNo problem. Itâs nice to feel so wanted.â He says softly. âI really appreciate this, by the way. That youâre willing to put so much time and care into, uh, this.â
You take a deep breath. âHeâs just being nice. Donât look for implications that arenât there.â You think to yourself. But you have to respond somehow. Heâs looking at you like you handed him the world. Itâs really cute.
âOf course, Ken. You know I love you,â You realize what you said quickly, eyes widening. âYouâre the best friend Iâve ever had.â
Kenâs never felt so disappointed in his life
He really thought that was it
Heâs pretty stiff for the rest of the evening
Like everything he says is scripted
Itâs really just so that he can keep it together until he gets home to think out what to do next
As soon as he drops you off, his mind starts racing
What was that?
Was he friendzoned? Was that last part a coverup?Â
Regardless, he cares about you too much to potentially hurt you in any way
Even if that means backing off a little bit
So he distances himself abbot, not knowing what else to do
You realize something is off pretty quickly and walk over to his usual spot on the beach
Sure enough, heâs sitting on the sand alone, his head cradled in his hands
You approach him slowly, sitting next to him on the ground
Ken glances up as your shadow casts over him. You sit next to him, not saying anything at first. He looks⊠confused. Thereâs a glint of relief at your presence, but also a slightly guarded look that Ken never usually carries.
âHey,â You say softly, meeting his gaze. âYou okay?â
He shifts uncomfortably, his eyes betraying that heâs weighing whatever options he has in this situation in his head. Eventually, he sighs, shifting his gaze to his hands.
âYeah, Iâm fine.â He says vaguely, fidgeting with his fingers. âJust trying to think I guess.â
âAbout?â You donât want to press, but Kenâs almost never closed off like this.Â
âYou?â He says, blushing intensely.Â
The two of you just sit there for a second, trying to process what effect that little comment had on the future of this conversation
He eventually works up the courage to tell you everything. From the very beginning.
He tells you what a great friend you are, and how he never wants to mess up what you already have
He starts rambling in his nervousness, trapped beneath your intense gaze
âI know you love me as a friend, and I obviously also love you as a friend. But I think I might also love you a little bit more than that, if Iâm making any sense. But I totally get it if you donât feel like that as well. I might be moving too fast. Iâm sorry-â
You have to kiss him to shut him up (i know itâs cliche iâm sorry đ)
He just stares at you after you part, his eyes wide as saucers, until a small grin sneaks onto his face
âSo, is that like, an, uh-â
âAn âI love you tooâ? Yes.â
Youâve never seen him smile to big
You two spend the rest of the day sitting on the beach and talking
About how you covered up your confession that day at the park
About how he thought he had to avoid youÂ
Hesitantly, he reaches for your hand
When you grab it back he smiles a little, turning away to hide the blush in his cheeks
hi! i love your hcs for ken!! can you do hcs about what ken would be like if i got sick/if the reader got sick?
Awe thank you!
Note: Both are humans in this (with Ken's transition to humanity being very recent, like a few days in)
......
Ken has been to Doctor Barbie for injuries, although he's never been sick.
He's seen other dolls go to her for colds, stomach aches, etc. and they're "healed" right away (ie "in the time it took for me to say that sentence, you're already cured!").
After he goes to live with you in the Real World permanently and becomes human himself, he's been contemplating mortality and discovers that sickness is dealt with differently here, both of which stress him out.
He tries not to bother you about these thoughts, however....
Until one morning he wakes up to see your side of the bed empty, finding you in the kitchen wearing a mask and looking rather lethargic.
He's confused and pouts that you didn't give him the usual good morning kisses, wondering if he did something wrong.
"Are you feeling okay, babe? And what's with the mask?"
"Oh, it's just so I don't sneeze over everything, Ken.." You answer with a stuffy nose and sore throat.
"...what do you mean? Why do you sound like that?"
"I caught a cold at work, and-"
"Wait, you're sick?!!!" His eyes go HUGE and he's very much panic-striken, insisting you go see the doctor.
"I'm fine, honey. I just need to rest-"
"No!! We need to go right now!! Where are your car keys???? I'll drive us!"
"Ken. You don't have a license. I promise it's just a simple little cold.....if you don't believe me, you can Google it."
He takes your words seriously and searches up symptoms and causes of the common cold..
However, he goes a bit too far down the Internet rabbit hole, and now he's fully convinced that you're gonna die if you don't see a doctor.
He just starts crying, clinging to you like it's your last day on earth, and his anxieties over human mortality eventually spill out as you hold him.
Obviously, asking him to keep his distance from you was impossible at this point.
He's a mess, but fortunately you're able to stop his blubbering, explaining that a common cold isn't going to kill you, and that you have remedies here at home to treat it.
Once Ken calms down enough to listen, he'll retrieve whatever you needed. Medicine, tissues, pills, pillows, etc. Anything to make you feel comfortable.
Throughout the day he asks if you're absolutely sure you don't need to see a doctor.
He can and will cuddle with you despite your initial protests, nuzzling into your chest as you're laying on the couch/bed together.
"Can I kiss you? Please?"
"...Ken, I don't want you to get sick, too." You shake your head, feeling guilty when you see his puppy-dog eyes staring up at you. "I promise you don't wanna feel this way-"
"But I wanna share in your suffering." He insists. "If I'm gonna be human for the rest of my life, I might as well experience this at least once."
You eventually give in and pull your mask down, allowing him to kiss you as he pleased.
Spoiler: Ken gets a cold a few days later and whines about it the entire time, but you help him through it. Just as he helped you.
