The details described by the others fit the description he had received from the upper echelons. He is out here to confirm, learn the traits and maybe get more information before going home. “Thank you.” He flashed a quick smile, fingers drumming on the table with his eyes focused on the reflections available for him to keep observing. “If you would be kind enough, can you make the usual drinks for him? It is a great way to conversation, ain’t it?” He then took a sip on the given shot- eyes squinting as his throat burns. “This is a great one by the way.”

`ᴅʜ — Daehun eyes the other, wanting to squint because despite the other’s calm, collected form of speech and friendly aura, he couldn’t help but wonder what kind of shady motives he had in mind. But then again, Daehun is only a bartender, he’s served plenty of shady characters without even batting an eye, so he can’t exactly cut down on this guy with the excuse of a good conscience. “I guess, if you’re swinging his way.” He shrugs, hint of humor in his voice assured that it was a joke, however tired expression didn’t mirror much emotion. Once finishing two of drinks of choice, Dae sets them both before the man.

Lay watches on as his new friend interacts with his companion and smiles. It’s always a sight to see when Derek gets to soak up the attention from others when he’s off duty. He’s a glutton for pets, scratches behind the ears or under his chin and soft murmured words of praise. When the other speaks he can’t help but raise an eyebrow in question. Jaemin told his brother off? That he’d like to see. The guy seemed to have a serious stick up his ass when they’d met but maybe there was more to it. Maybe Jaemin was the only one who could soften the rough exterior he’d shown to Lay.

“No worries; it’s in the past.” It was true too. He had no hard feelings toward the brother in question and the rude encounter he’d experienced with him. He doubted he’d be seeing much of the guy anyway. “I guess he likes wasting money though.” He adds as an afterthought, more-so to himself than anything else. How Daehun had even dropped the cash that night to begin with, he’d never know.

He shrugs thoughtlessly and finishes the cookie in his hand only to dig another out and hums his delight as he sinks his teeth into the soft treat. “Well, anyway. What are you up to today? Got special plans or were you just meandering?”

`ᴊᴍ — “That’s so weird, he’s usually really good with money! He manages our bank accounts and stuff, I don’t think he thinks I’m responsible enough.” He jokes, although technically he has to agree; Jaemin has a bit of a habit of over spending whenever something catches his eye, lets just say he’s a bit easily influenced. After pulling away from the pet and turning his attention back to Lay, the blonde lifts his legs in order to crisscross them while sitting on the bench, as if he were at home. 

“I don’t have any plans. I was gonna stop by the shop, although my boss might kill me because it’s my day off and he knows I only ever go there to play with the animals.” Laughing at the thought, he really hopes the man’s soft spot for him would never wear out, otherwise he would’ve been fired a long time ago. “I might visit the dance studio downtown, a friend of mine teaches classes there and I like to take advantage of the free space she can get me sometimes.”

Can I have the best shot that you have?“ He offered a smile towards the bartender though he must admit that staying sane for the night seems to be the better choice for a mission to keep an eye on someone but blending in has always been a compulsory move. “How often does the person behind me frequents here?“ Of course, he had made no movement to turn around in fact he furthered his action to relax the muscles of his back. 

`ᴅʜ — The bartender gives a swift nod, reaching for one of the shot glasses before getting to work. Glancing up when spoken to again, Daehun raises a brow at the odd question but doesn’t voice or show much concern, although his paranoid nature obviously remains in the back of his mind. “The bald one? I catch him in here a few nights a week with new people. Usually week nights, though. Real slow shifts.” Otherwise he probably wouldn’t have even bothered to remember him. “He only really orders one or two drinks though, which I find ridiculous.” Shrugging, he slides the shot over to the other.

heejin looked at her young companion with her doe-like eyes, lips pressing together for a mere second of contemplation, albeit eventually expression the truth with her mouth. “physically, you look like a twelve grader, but you sounded like you’re from kinder garden.” her nose wrinkled, gently loosen as she picks up the shot glass to drink. “loosen up, stop whining and act like a man.” 

`ᴊᴍ — Raising both brows in shock at the words, Jaemin’s lips part for a brief moment, as if to say something, although nothing comes out and he closes his mouth again, huffing. “I’m twenty two, not seventeen... or five for that matter!” He grumbles after a while, squinting at the shot glass. Act like a man, oh, he’s heard that before, and it still strikes a nerve. “I’m a man.”

Patting the empty space beside him, Lay listens on and snickers at the admittance of the non-homemade baked goods. Still, he accepts them graciously and grins as Derek’s tail thumps against the ground by his feet. He’s happy his human companion is in good spirits. The knowledge that the cookies might be somewhat crispy is more than enough for him to tear into the bag and chip a bite off of one. Sometimes slightly burnt was much more appealing than the soft, almost under-baked treats out there.

He chews (both the cookie and the information) and shrugs with nonchalance. “He was pretty harmless.” It’s not a lie either. For all the twins’ posturing, he had a feeling he was a big gooey soft marshmallow underneath. Lay had dealt with much worse in his past but he wasn’t about to offer those stories up just yet. “No hard feelings here, honest.” The cookie earns another bite and he hums cheerfully before murmuring around it. “Thanks for these by the way, they’re yummy.”

`ᴊᴍ — Taking the seat offered to him, Jaemin smiles at the sight of the other’s dog and immediately reaches out to give the same amount of attention he gave the canine the last time he’d seen him. After cooing a few greeting as he pet the dog, Jaemin’s attention span returns to him as he catches on to what the other was saying again, turning to look at him in gratitude. “Ah, thanks. I told him off about it on the way home—” Well, more like whined about it on the way home, the younger wasn’t very good at being angry let alone telling anyone off. “He didn’t really respond much to it but I mean, I’m sure he won’t do it again after I did... Or you can just try avoiding him and it’d do wonders, too, really.” He jokes, laughing a bit. 

Part of him can’t even wrack his brain around why he was so negative towards the other to begin with, had there been something he didn’t know? Shrugging it off for now, the blonde looks over the half eaten treat, relieved that it’d turned out edible at least. “You’re welcome!”

ᴏᴘᴇɴ ᴘʟᴏᴛ;

Daehun’s first ex/high school girlfriend. The relationship would’ve lasted a few months, and ended because of his bad temper/basically overall lashing out at her and closing off. Daehun lived a different life back then (he wanted to be a dancer, he lived in an abusive home, etc), so meeting her again in present day would probably come as a big shock to the both of them. Note!: she would have to have gone to high school in Daegu, which is where Dae grew up before moving to Seoul at 18.

Perched on the bench with his legs swinging and Derek at his feet clear of the path he kicks, Lay relaxes. They’ve needed the fresh air. After a few considerably confusing and stuffy nights it’s a welcomed reprieve. He’s about to close his eyes and really revel in it when someone breaks the silence behind him.

He angles his body to get a better view of their guest and smiles warmly when recognition hits. “Hey!” Scooting over to offer space for the male, he points to the bagged cookies with his thumb. “What are these?” With the way they’re presented he figures it’s safe to assume they’re for him nonetheless, he figures it’s best to ask for the sake of clarification.

`ᴊᴍ — The younger looks a bit surprised that he’s responded so openly after their last encounter, but nonetheless he’s relieved. “Fresh cookies. I wanna say I made them, but I really just put premade dough into the oven. There’s probably still a chance that I burned them somehow.” He admits with a small laugh, handing the small bag over before rubbing the back of his neck. Jaemin wasn’t always the best in the kitchen, it was the thought that counted anyway, right? “I’m sorry about last week, I don’t know what Dae said to you but I know it wasn’t nice. Please don’t be upset with me.” Both his hands clasp together in an almost pleading manner.
