As a local government employee, we also hate being disconnected from bigger state and federal agencies, thankfully my home state is reasonable on the state level but even here it's ass and makes our job trying to help so much harder. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this
i made an appointment for 6 weeks from now at least :) truly the issue is that the disconnection from agency to agency makes them provide incorrect information to people and deny services, which is like, so shitty and negligent on their part. that woman saying things so adamantly and being wholly wrong is nuts on its own, but to at the same time tell me she denied someone else earlier today as well— without knowing she was the one who was wrong— is so sad to think about. people take time off work and spend money just to get their necessary documents handled and this kind of incorrect handling of information is one of the reasons things often move sideways and backwards at federal and state agencies rather than forward. some say it’s bureaucracy but too it’s just people being uninformed in their roles. i’m fine honestly, it just sucks to think about how often she’s doing that to people who’ve set aside time and money and planned for these things only to have a wrench thrown in by someone providing incorrect information and denying services based on their own misinformation. anytime i go to that dol they never know what they’re talking about. the only process they’re 100% clear and informed about is doing those stupid Real IDs being pushed by the federal government rn. there are so many local agency employees who want to do more or help more but literally can’t. would love more of you and less like these. such is liiiiiife
