The way my flawed human memory is still 10 times superior and more reliable with just an access to multi language search engines. I've been thinking about a book I've read as a pre-teen, that I've found at the sea shore market in one of the lesser known cost villages I visited with my mom one summer. A pre-teen means in early 2000s for me. Only facts I remembered about that book is that it was one of 3 of the series I purchased that trip, that it had something to do with witches, that they were sisters and that the author was a man and shared a name or was a host of a arts&crafts TV show, and I only know that because at one point in the past I was watching that show and recognised the name and looked him up.
Now he's a thing, I read these books in Polish. I was for some reason so sure the a&c show was German, so I assumed the man was German as well. Yet still I looked up "children's show host that published books" in English first. Call it a language struggle because I cannot with a clear conscience tell anyone what language I'm thinking in daily coz I don't know that myself.
Than I proceeded to look up children's witch-related books in German. Found a few interesting titles I might check out later, and one a copy I actually own, but in English. Obligatory German classes since middle school till first year of university turned out to be useful after all these years. But I didn't find the book I was looking for there either.
Last resort, looking it up in the language I was reading it in.
And there she is! I wonder if they still sell it somewhere.
(for those who cannot read Polish, the series title loosely translates to "No Boys! Witches Only!" The book on top "Rywalki Nierozłączki" in the preview has such a cool title because it's a wordplay on papużki nierozłączki (lit. tr. inseparable parrots) expression for a pair of people who are together at all times. English equivalent would be lovebirds I suppose, only here they swapped the parrot for rivals. I couldn't find English translation, if there is any, but it could be something like "Beloved Enemies" since the original title is "Zwei allerbeste Feindinnen" where they also made a pun I think, where instead of "Two Best Friends" (Freundinnen?) they used Feind (enemy)
Believe it or not but I actually unearthed my Langenscheitst Taschenwörterbuch just to make sure online translator is not bullshitting me.

Turns out it is in fact the same dude, not just the case of the same name. He's Austrian, not German, so that's my bad. Also at first my blind ass read Australian instead so I was like "damn, my memory is REALLY BAD" but no, it's still doing fine. And he's apparently a quite acclaimed children literature and general education author. I'm glad to hear that.
Reddit was my last resort option, and I'd gladly leave that vague description, but I'm happy I've managed to find what I was looking for with my own hands.
