i hope that every player who decides to speak up about their mental health knows that ill love them forever with my whole heart. skylar irving's story especially stands out to me. some years ago when she was in college she made a post telling her story. she talks about having anxiety and ocd and she talks about the scary parts, the panic attacks, the intrusive thoughts of suicide and not being able to tell snyone, the avoidance and loneliness... and how now she still has these conditions but now she has therapy and friends and is lucky to be here alive and playing hockey.

it means the absolute world to me. i am so glad irving and everyone else who's struggled is still with us today. its never an athletes obligation to tell us what's going on in their mind. but every time someone does... they make the world of hockey and the entire world a better place
