Ttotals – Let Everything Come Through LP (Twin Lakes)
Nashville guitar/drums psych duo comes back at it for their first full-length, the product of six years of EPs and tentative steps, probably a good bit of disillusionment with hucksters trying to “help” or whatever too. For the sheer number of diminishing returns in their field of play, and the number of cliches that riddle the bands trying to operate in this space, I’m kind of taken by surprise at how full they sound now, patience rewarded with good handfuls of riffs (particularly on side B) and a sleepy demeanor that springs to life when required, compelling without the snooze factor. They make this seem simple, and as the stack of unsold records in every store might tell you, it is not. Lots of easy decisions avoided in pursuit of a focus so strong it seems relaxed. If you’re not worn out on a slow burner like this one, it might behoove you to check it out. Silkscreened cover. (http://www.twinlakesrecords.com) (Doug Mosurock)
