christmas, to sua, is just another day to cross off her calendar. although, she goes a little heavy with the red sharpie when she stumbles across the holiday each year — resentment spilling onto the paper along with the damp ink. if she shed tears, she’s sure her calendars would’ve seen plenty over the years.
but she doesn’t cry. not anymore.
christmas, and christmas songs, are brutal, gruelling reminders of christmas pageants. short red dresses to mimic a “babydoll” version of santa claus, paired oh-so-fittingly with bedazzled knee socks and santa caps. she’ll admit it, she looked cute in the costumes. and as she matured, the costumes started to fit differently. look differently.
but no costume was enough of a distraction. not when she spent her holidays having her hair pulled back so tightly she suffered from migraines. not when she spent her holidays holding back sobs as she stood under those blinding fucking spotlights — her mother’s eyes piercing into her, even when she sat the farthest from stage.
if sua had a choice ? she’d never sing another christmas carol. but she knows resentment of such a joyful holiday isn’t something to share with her future fans. so, she’ll plaster on a sugary-sweet smile, as saccharine as the bubblegum lip gloss she’s sure to have painted on her lips — and she’ll tell you she’d like to cover “santa baby”. it’s a typical answer, once you get to know sua. a song that can be sung with a coquettish twist, and performed with a sweetly-sexy dance.

ahn sua was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, swaddled in designer blankets and onesies as soon as she was born, but the price of this luxury meant she was subjected to being thrust into an imitation of what her mother wanted her own life to be like
meaning ; her mother was a former model, although she was mediocre at best, and was always bitter towards sua for taking her dreams away from her when she fell pregnant. shitty, right ? anyway ! because of this, sua’s mother decided to try to live through sua. so, she thrust sua into the pageantry world at the tender age of five.
sua took ballet and gymnastics lessons throughout her childhood and teenage years in order to help the talent portion, and appear more appealing and refined to the judges. although she was thrust into lessons to accommodate her mother’s fantasies, she enjoyed dancing. it was all that kept her sane.
long story short ! she didn’t fair too well as a pageant girl. she ranked high in the smaller competitions, as a child and a young teenager, but she tried bigger and more prestigious pageants and ultimately ranked pretty low - always under the top 20.
so, her mother scored her a small modeling gig. think of yves’ predebut photos at that clothing site... she modeled for a small clothing company and eventually ended up quitting about six months in because she wasn’t happy.
she started to focus on dance, and began taking lessons at a prestigious dance studio in seoul. she was eager to get away from the swanlike image her mother created for her, so she sought out lessons in other dance styles - mainly hip-hop. think of the studio as something like 1million dance ! after a few months into classes, she started competing with them.
didn’t too the best in the competitions. she was never bad and was never called out negatively - she just failed to really stand out. until she was scouted by a midas talent scout !
she began training at the age of twenty. trainee life proved to be really lonely for someone so accustomed to being in her mother’s grasp 24/7, and having empty praises and attention thrown her away for years on end, so she ended up becoming pretty vulnerable ; attention-seeking.
she ended up dating, and getting caught for this. PLOT OPPORTUNITY ! i’ve left this fairly open in her biography, so if there’s any m / nb looking for a romantic or past romantic plot, hmu ! there’s more information on my plot page about the ideas i have for this !
when it comes to personality off-stage, she’s enigmatic. although she has so much confidence and can be fairly outspoken and obnoxious about how confident she is, she’s also really closed-off and guarded towards other people. she’s been told to keep her mouth shut for so long that it’s hard to remember to just... let loose sometimes. but she’s trying, and it’s why she’s so adamant on securing a role as a sexy and confident main dancer within neon. dancing is when she feels the most powerful, and she’s insanely confident in her ability to dance. on the plus side, when she’s comfortable ( or when she wants something ! ), she can be fairly coquettish and witty. she has a lot of charm, since she had to do so much people-pleasing as a child, and she knows how to use her charms and wit to her advantage. so she can flip switches pretty easily, sometimes appearing like a totally different person !
