The head manager of The Emerald Gemstone Casino and the host of that year's Emerald Masquerade with his head assistant. Little did he know, that this event of royal status would become the stage of a massacre that would go unsolved for years to come, and his life would be the first to forfeit.

Date and Estimated Time of Death // June 19th, 20XX at 12:20 AM

Cause of Death // ... I'm not too sure. Checking the additional clues, it could have been anything.

Murder Weapon // Unknown, but there was a broken drinking glass found hidden away in a trashcan with blood splattered on it. Was he knocked out with a glass?

Additional Clues // The victim's chest seemed to suffer deep lacerations as if the skin was slashed at by something sharp. I assumed this was from the glass shards... but could it have been something else?

Additional Clues // There was also a gunshot wound on the body, and we did hear a gunshot go off as he fell... but everyone but two people was there, and no one in the ballroom seemed to have a gun.

Person Who Discovered the Body // Everyone at the Emerald Masquerade, except for Strawberry Mojito and White Night.

Notes // He seemed like an outstanding guy... and no one here would have had a clear motive to kill him. He seemed well-liked and well-respected by his employees and his guests alike. A small knock is heard from the door, before a little voice calls out. It sounds quite familiar.

"K-Komaeda-san, hello,,, it's Mikan,,,"

"I-I hope I'm not interrupting something important... Unless i can come back later- If you want, o-of course...!"

The nurse's voice seems to quiver a bit, as if she has been standing by the door to take some strength and guts to knock the door. Oh dear;;;

Mikan blinks her droopy eyes a bit before quietly roaming into the room with small hesitant footsteps. She then stops shortly once she’s sure enough that she’s now inside the room. Turning to face Nagito once again shyly.

“T-This place is still very new to me,,,, Seeing many new faces as well as a different environment has been m-making me feel jumpy for a while,,,”

“I thought it would make me feel better if I talk to someone who at least I’m familiar with,,,”

After she finishes explaining while looking at her shoes for a moment, she carefully revealed a paperbag that’s in her hands which has been hidden behind her. She hands the paperbag to the light-haired one, which has bagels in it.

“I-I didn’t come empty handed, I took the opportunity that there was not many people in the kitchen and got them,,”

The thought of taking some of the trouble to make sure no one is going to approach her for a talk while meaning to get snacks alone is a bit overwhelming for Mikan, but is worth it.

"Oh? You went and brought bagels? Thank you very much, Mikan! Although you didn't need to go through all of that for someone like me, still, I appreciate it very much!"

He smiled warmly at her before gently ushering her over to sit on a couch in the room.

"Would you believe me if I said I felt something similar when I first arrived here?"

Mikan notices and complies, quietly sitting on the couch with her hands folded in her lap.

"R-Really,,,,? I quite thought i was the only one at first,,, Nanami-chan and Hinata-san doesn't seem so bothered about this- o-or probably it might just me overthinking,,,,"

Mikan shifts a little bit as she looks down,,,

"i honestly haven't talked to anyone else about how I'm feeling lately,,, maybe that's why."

The "Journalist" waved happily from a distance as she approached the Ultimate Lucky Student.

"It's so nice to finally meet you! I've heard a lot about you from Mister Hajime and Miss Chiaki! Oh, I haven't even introduced myself yet, oh my! I'm Kaede Akamatsu, I'm the Ultimate Pianist!"

"Oh! It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms Akamatsu! I hope life has been treating you well here. Although, I must warn you. Those who are close to me are always effected by my luck one way or another, so it's probably safer for you if you aren't too close to me."

Clasping her hands together, the “journalist” casually strolled closer to Komaeda, smiling brightly.

“Life has been throwing curve balls at me as of late, I’ll be honest… but nothing is going to stop me from making a new friend!”

Despite saying this, she respectfully kept her distance as per his wishes. Shifting in her feet, still smiling, she continued.

“You’ve been here a lot longer than I have, and I was wondering… do you like it here? Are the other people here nice?”

"I would love to be friends with you, Kaede. I just hope my luck doesn't become a hindrance to you."

He smiled softly at her before continuing,

"As for your question, I do like it here. I'm surrounded by familiar faces, and despite the conditions we're living under, we all still find hope in getting out together."

Upon hearing that Komaeda would like to be friends, she beamed, brighter than the brightest stars in the sky. Truly a heavenly sight to behold.

“That’s good, that’s good! This place is much different from Hope’s Peak Academy… but a new environment is always good! And these carnival games… something about them is telling me that these aren’t like the killing games we’re used to…”

“But, with so many ultimates here, we’ll figure out how it works and we’ll win!”

He smiled brighter as well seeing how hopeful she was.

"I'm most certainly sure we will as long as we keep having hope! From what I've seen of these games, death isn't a permanent end to the participants. I've watched teammates get blasted off on those chairs and yet once the match was over, I'd see them right back walking the halls of the manor as if they weren't just exploded on a rocket.."

The "Journalist's" eye focus on the Ultimate Lucky Student as she rubs her chin in deep thought.

"It's not just the carnival games! It's anywhere on the manor grounds! The deceased never stay deceased it seems... Oh! Here, look at this!"

Staring at her palms, suddenly she held them out towards the Ultimate Lucky Student. There was a faint scar directly in the center of each hand, as if something had happened.

"This place is odd! Injures fade and disappear... even if the memory and the pain are as clear as day, the proof of it disappears, like it was never there to begin with. I talked to a few people... they think the manor is somehow... supernatural. Do you have any opinion on the matter?"

After inspecting her scars and hearing what she had to say, the manor having supernatural properties did sound like a logical conclusion.

" That does seem like a plausible explanation, my friend. I've also experienced similar situations with wounds I've obtained as well."

As he says this, he pulls up his shirt to reveal a faint scar on his stomach similar to those on her hands, although this one was rather large
