19th Chopin Piano Competition, Warsaw, October 2025—masterpost

For the second time, I'm planning on following the Chopin comp closely, as well as trying to get my impressions on paper. screen. well.

The thing is, I'm an adult now, or at least I'm supposed to behve like a grownup and amongst those things is having a job. Which I really like, by the way. But it gets into my precious Chopin time! So, I'm giving myself permission to not be ideal here, but I'll at least prepare all the infos about stages, competitors, winners, etc.

Once again, it's all thanks to my Mum with whom I listened to previous editions, and with whom I'll be going to hear the second stage live in Warsaw.

I think a plot about Chopin and liszt thats like amadeus wouldve worked really well. I mean Chopin is also his friend who died young and liszt was actually obsessed with him so it wouldnt be that off to add some murderous intent

Liszt deserves some historical innacuracy after he wrote some about Chopin when he died😭🙏. Btw old liszt kinda looks like old salieri too

I think the plot would be like liszt begging George sand to make chopin gtfo rather than asking God who knows

more people should know that the chopin institute in warsaw hired professional voice actors to read chopin's letters out loud, recorded them, and put them in an app where you can listen to them for free like an audiobook, and it's really well done

they haven't gotten thru all the letters yet, but there's a lot already, including most of the cutest letters with all the cute parts included

There are literally three things going on in my head this week

1. Third movement (Largo) of Chopin's Piano Sonata in B minor

I can't believe I'm listening to his sonata but honestly, Piotr Pawlak has made me appreciate it a lot (also, the structure!)

2. Fourth movement (Finale. Presto non tanto) of Chopin's Piano Sonata in B minor

The motorics here! I always feel them as if the notes, going on and on, were a little heavy and difficult to produce, just like turning a stone wheel

3. Second movement (Allegretto) of Beethoven's 7th Symphony in A Major

Who cares about the violins when the cellos have the best part!
