You don’t know who I am, you have no idea how I feel about real situations because all you have seen is how I feel and view a work of fiction. So what if I’m apparently obsessed with villainizing a character, SO. WHAT?! And so what if I want to say a difference character is a hero about something that’s made up? Who am I hurting? Truly, who is being hurt by my own thoughts about a fictional character?
It’s ALL fantasy. Which means, in the words of the great Mark Hamill: anything can be anything. You know these people are not REAL, right? You have the ability to separate film from reality, correct? Which means in my own head I can put whoever the hell I want on a pedestal and ignore everything else if I want to. Because none of it is real; it is, in your words, a FANTASY. Fake. Inconsequential. OF COURSE I’m inventing shit for Eddie and putting him in a pedestal, just like you’re inventing shit for Billy??? Same thing, my dude. So… maybe don’t look that deep into it? Because it’s truly not worth it, you are clearly a passionate person and I’d hate to have that energy wasted on something so trivial. If you don’t like what others have to say about their own canons that they share on their own blogs, just scroll on by. And yes, while freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences, I didn’t say anything that would warrant such an aggressive and insulting response. I didn’t throw hate speech and I wasn’t threatening. I didn’t make any allusions to how I feel about racism and child abuse in the OP, but your response did. Your thoughts got projected onto my words and then you responded… that’s why it was said that you were projecting; literally a textbook example. Yeah, I like Eddie more than I like Lucas. Does that make me racist? No. It means that I don’t identify with freshman basketball players, but I do identify with outcasts and metal heads. In the same breath, you said that I ignore how Eddie’s story sidelined Lucas’. Sounds like a writer’s problem to me. That doesn’t mean I can’t prefer Eddie over anyone in terms of who I have headcanons about and it certainly doesn’t mean I’m racist, as many of you have called me. In that same ilk, Billy’s a fucking Nazi in my head. And guess what? There’s nothing you can do about it. But not to you, is he? To you, he’s a redeemable character who is a martyr. To you, he’s a victim of an abusive home that needs help to survive in a world that has treated him unfairly. For you, it’s canon that he is clearly a victim. And that’s how it is for you. That’s your canon and there isn’t a damn thing I can do about it.

Stop telling other people how to enjoy fiction. If you don’t like the shit people say, just scroll past it. You don’t follow me, why is this so bothersome to you? You’re an adult, if you are truly that upset about racism and the lack of white allyship (which yeah, you should be. It’s upsetting), go to a fucking protest. Donate to causes that support BIPOC locally and globally. Call your government official and tell them to get their shit together. If you’re truly upset about how child abuse is handled (which again, you should be), become a foster parent or work to make the systems we have in place be better. Getting people on the internet to target an individual for doing things that are harmless is a waste of your energy. You’re an adult, start acting like one.
