Though Arthur’s usually quick to jump to irritation, Artemus’ expression is indicative enough – and besides, there is some truth in the statement, literal or figurative. While Arthur doesn’t do jobs for free, he also doesn’t do them for money. The pay is more of a well-deserved bonus, and one he hardly spends in excess.

            He could get into all the reasons why he had been forced to stay awake, but that would require a lot of truth-bending, and Artemus doubted the other cared of the circumstances all that much. There’s was a relationship of business, casual as it was. Artemus wasn’t sure where they stood on the grand scheme of things.

                     “When I do, does that mean I get to make “friends” with your associates, or is this strictly a ‘teach until the baby bird is ready to fly the coup’ sort of deal?”

psa. i am an agonizingly slow roleplayer – my muses are fickle and some days all i can manage is chat threads or shenanigans. other days i can pump out longer threads like no one’s business. if it takes me awhile on your thread it has nothing to do with you as a writer or me losing my muse for the thread. never hesitate to ask for my skype for in between threads for chatting and plotting and fun.
