That Time I Taught Milky Chance the Word “Nudge”

This time I was filming, which is way more awesome than interviewing. You get the perks of meeting and talking to the band without worrying about stumbling over words on camera (see: St. Vincent Interview). 

We peered into various green rooms with Philipp and Clemens before finding one unoccupied. This green room was literally a dark forest green room with mood lighting on one setting and one setting only: hella dim. To improvise, I opened the door to the bathroom to let that light shine in. It still wasn’t fantastic, so for good measure I opened the refrigerator door, held it open with my butt, and filmed the interview with a chilled booty. 

Damn you, mood lighting.

Talking is Hard

There is some sort of disconnect between my brain and my speech. Words just don’t come to me very easily. Maybe it’s some sort of combination of spending most of my childhood/high-school-life holed up in my room on the internet plus hearing my mom’s choppy Filipino-accented English. So when I interviewed St. Vincent, an actual quote that came out of my mouth was: “So that song is basically just as it is just what it sounds what’s it sounds yeah.”
