Fashion in itself is an art it’s formed by an inspiration, someone following his or her vision. Creating a fashion film is about capturing an essence, a mood, and a feeling. Similar to how clothing affects you. You have so much freedom, which in return gives you space to experiment as an artist because there are no rules.

It’s a lot of work to put together a shoot but there’s no better feeling than seeing it all come together.

I want to challenge myself, starting next year I want to produce and direct as many fashion videos as I can, as I enjoyed creating one like this.

It’s been great connecting with Tasarnia, I visited her blog and really loved the photography and positive energy.

Here, Tasarnia gives tips on managing a fashion blog. She gives some insight as to how long it takes to get followers. And I think it shows that you have to plug away at it, have faith, be creative, but most of all love what you’re doing! Otherwise what’s the point? 

I was able to interview Tasarnia and here’s what she said.

1        Hi Tasarnia, could you start by telling us a bit about yourself?

Hello, I am Tasarnia Dhuloo, I am a fashion media student in her late 20’s, I love travelling and living life to the fullest, like there is no tomorrow. I try to find happiness in the small things of life.

 2        Can you tell us about your blog and what is the inspiration behind it?

I was looking for ways of communication with my family and friends. I wanted to show them how my life was, the places I was visiting and the friends that I made but without having to post my pictures on Facebook. Especially with being a fashion media student it is also compulsory that I have a running blog.

 3        How would you describe your own personal style?

I don’t think I have a particular style since I wear what I like and those changes from time to time. If I had to choose a style to adapt to for the rest of my life, it would be the 60’s.

 4        Where do you tend to buy your clothes and why?

I shop a little bit everywhere.

 5        Do you have any fashion rules when putting together an outfit?

Simplicity is one of the rules that I follow. I wear practical simple outfits that can get me through the day and make me feel comfortable anywhere I go. Besides what’s the point of wearing high heels when you are to run all day from college to the mall?

  6        Do shops and advertises send you samples of their goods to feature?

Since The Glided hanger has been a fashion focused blog I have received many gifts and been invited to many fashion events.

  7        Is there a person that is a fashion inspiration to you?

My mother has always been a great inspiration to me.

 8        You have a lot of followers to your blog, how did you do this? Was there ever a time when you had say one follower?

At the beginning of my blogging journey and for the first year I had only 3 followers, including myself. Then I asked my friends to follow but no one bothered since they would check the blog anyway. The more interesting my posts became the more my followers began to grow, this lead me to posting more frequently and gaining even more followers.

 9        Who does your amazing photography?

All my outfit photos are taken by my friends, sister or boyfriend and the rest are taken by me.

 10    Where do you see your blog in the next five years?

That’s a very difficult question to answer. There are two answers that I have in my mind at the moment; either I will keep blogging or I will stop blogging due to the nature of my job.

The future of iindifferent.

My blog was never a part of where I saw myself, when did I discover this love? I never ever thought  wonderful opportunities would lead here. I consider myself extremely lucky and very grateful.

As platforms start to grow, I have thought more and more about how I will use them and I am intent on ensuring everything I do makes not only myself proud but will hopefully make others proud. This leads me to some thoughts that have been ticking over about how I envision my corner of the blogosphere as it grows and the responsibility I have gained from my now career as time moves forward.

To anyone that has taken a second to read/view my content, chosen to follow my journey on a social page or even just tapped the like button on an image and chosen to interact with something I have posted or created, here are my promises to you for the future of this blog.

Positive and Creative growth- I will of course always give you my truthful opinion on any product I use but much prefer to fill my blog with my favorite things that I can wholeheartedly recommend to you and that you may love to own yourself .And finally, sharing more creativity and art to express the beauty within our souls.

The Rosebank Sunday Market

What used to be called the Rosebank Rooftop Market is now the Rosebank Sunday Market  and it’s a fabulous place to browse, eat, drink and relax, on a Sunday morning.

 It is much better laid out than before – more spacious and with the different sections well sign-posted – from the Food Court to African Curios to Vintage where there’s lots of vinyl on offer as well as bric-a-brac and second hand ornaments. Visitors to Joburg can get some great African curios, clothing and accessories. There’s live music and some wonderful buskers – Sunday saw a trio of fun tap dancers.

Sundays The Rosebank Sunday Market is a host to a variety of hand-made crafts, bric-a-brac, antiques, original clothing and food stalls, often accompanied by live entertainment from local artists.

Fashion and art have always had a close relationship, and designers often look to paintings for creative inspiration. 

With fashion Week coming to an end, what better time to pay homage to the fashionistas of the McQueen Collection. Fashion designers often find their inspiration from travels to exotic destinations such as India, Morocco or pop icons, but legendary designer Alexander McQueen adored the decorative arts and regularly referenced historic painting, printmaking, and decor in his work.

 Ahead of the race, Alexander McQueen comes in first place for pushing the boundaries of fashion with his fierce and fragile fashion designs. He was said to be an artist of the romantic tradition. Passionate about fine art, McQueen started every collection with an idea or a concept for the runway presentation, reminiscent of avant-garde installations and performance art.

I find The great Alexander McQueen truly inspiring as his collections explore themes in art, creativity and relates to the beauty of life. His fine works including the Romantic Gothic collection, portraying his love of Scottish history and London, combined with his interest in the Victorian Gothic, or his Romantic Exoticism collection which explores his interests in other cultures such as Japan and China, as depicted in his kimono designs and prints. He was a pioneer among designers, for he saw beyond clothing’s physical restraints. His legacy lives on.

My favorite piece…the incredible silver embroidered cape and dress from his Autumn/Winter 2016, Between Dreams And Reality collection has caught my eye – with crescent moon’s adorning the waist and shoulders, stars scatters across its entirety and many full moons decorating the hem...

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna.

Rihanna gave herself a nearly impossible challenge when creating her recently released Fenty Beauty makeup line .Rihanna’s whole ethos behind Fenty Beauty is that it caters to everyone, no matter their skin colour or type, and the range of shades is truly impressive. The foundation comes in a multitude of different hues but also different undertones, meaning each shade has a cool and a warm version.

 Most makeup brands don’t do all they should when considering darker women. Women of color are always searching for shades that aren’t too dark or light and won’t oxidize, or turn grey on their skin. It seems brands don’t consider any in-between shades when working on the darker side of the spectrum. Rihanna, however, has managed to do so, and it’s quite honorable. "Fenty Beauty was created for everyone: for women of all shades, personalities, attitudes, cultures, and races," Rihanna wrote on her makeup line's website. "I wanted everyone to feel included."

Choker necklaces have been falling in and out and fashion for thousands of years, literally. Long before they encircled the necks of goth girls in the 1990s or were made popular by the Princess of Wales in the late 1800s, chokers were put on by women in ancient civilizations, worn to protect what even back then they understood to be a very important part of the body, the neck. They are a style that cuts across many cultures--African, Indian and Western.

 Instead of the '90s-inspired choker we've come to expect to see, today’s spotlight is a more versatile tone, to which we all cannot get enough of. No joke!

Below is my latest piece to join my collection – the new rose-gold embellished choker which adds texture to my neckline and gives a soft edgy feel. It retails at only R99 at any Truworths  store.

Living the blog..Q & A with cristallikethechampagne

Second year LISOF Fashion Media student Boitumelo Thindiza is the voice behind the fashion and art blog cristallikethechampagne, which has definitely become one of my favorite blogs to visit this far. Her style of blogging is raw and authentic which compliments her youthful and edgy side. New to the game of blogging, Tumi which she calls herself wishes to grow into an inspiring blogger which caters to everyone who has a deep meaningful love for fashion and art. I caught up with Tumi to find out more about her blogging career.

1.     What inspires your posts?

“Fashion, art, culture and people with passion for everything they do.”

2.     What would you say is your favorite post to date?

Tumi describes that her favorite blog was on the Sade inspired post with model Katlego as she played role as creative director, makeup artist and photographer. “I was inspired by the deck of cards mainly which anticipated the overall Sade concept.”

3.     What are your greatest achievements outside blogging?

“My greatest achievements this far is the journey of self-discovery of the person I am growing towards.”

4.     Where would you like to be in blogging five years from now?

“My hopes for cristallikethechampagne five years from now are to have a larger following and the opportunities to collaborate with some of the top bloggers in South Africa as well as with my fellow peers in the industry.”

MAC Copper sparkle product review.

Hello Right brainers!

 Today I review the MAC COSMETICS COPPER SPARKLE PIGMENT and I demonstrate ways in which it can be used.

 The MAC Copper sparkle is a warm copper pigment with a metallic finish that is permanent and retails at R350.00.

This pigment is glorious and it really pops, which I absolutely love. Fun fact- if you use your Fix+ spray with this product it glows and sparkles even more.

Here are two swatches; the left swatch is after adding water to the pigment and to the right is the consistency the pigment comes in originally.

Pros:

This product allows multiple uses as it is an eyeshadow, highlighter, blush and it can even go on the lips – basically it is whatever you want it to be.

Cons:

The MAC Cosmetics Copper Sparkle pigment particles are not finely ground; it is quite a messy product. Due to the thicker or grainy consistency it can be harder to blend. It is a little on the pricey side setting you back R350.00.  

 An artist, one such as a painter or sculptor is able by virtue of imagination and talent or skill to create aesthetic value, especially in the fine arts. Make-up artist expresses their way of thinking in his or her own way visually. Below is an image in which I demonstrated the different uses of the Copper sparkle pigment, as well as using the human face as a canvas in which it helps identifying the beauty of the product and the magnificence of applying art to enhance ones natural beauty.

 I used the pigment as an eyeshadow, highlighter and lip    cover.

Application

1.          For the eyes, I blended the pigment into the crease of the eye as well as underneath. I created a shimmer in the form of a cat eye which adds the principle of line and color to this look.

2.          I lightly applied the pigment as a highlighter which gives the look elegance and glow.(no blending)

3.          For lips I combined the MAC morange amplified lipstick with the copper pigment creating texture to the lip with  a metallic effect.

Here’s a brief history of who I am, what I do and why we should be friends. My name is Tiphani and I am a fashion Student at LISOF with a passion for fashion and everything art.

Finding things that others toss aside is where the game starts. I love the challenge of using what I find to create something entirely different. I will be blogging about everything and anything that has to do with art and fashion and how the two form as one. Art in make-up, photography and design will be the focal point in most of my posts. This blog centres on providing insight of today’s ever-growing fashion culture and depicting the beauty within.

This is a space for art and fashion lovers with the mind of a creative. Art is self-expression of someone or something that shows the hidden or underlying emotions upon which are found within the unconscious mind. Fashion is an everyday thought and revolves around the same sphere of creativity.
