This.
And now, we dance.
Imagine it's fall, and you're sitting on a bench at the park, watching the autumn leaves of an oak tree swirl in the breeze. The colors shimmer: Rich reds and yellows and oranges and golds, all of the leaves create a dizzying array, a portrait of sublime beauty. You get lost in the moment, observing these leaves rocking back and forth in the wind. You see them in stark contrast to the enormous expanse of the light blue fall sky, splattered with small grey clouds that just finished sprinkling their contents on the earth below. You hear those leaves tap against each other, rustling in the moving air. You smell the park, the dying grass, the wet sidewalk, and the wormy earth. You taste the oil of the finger you have been biting the tip of absentmindedly. You feel the cool fluidity of the soft gale push past you. It is nothing but incredible. It is nothing but life. Yet life isn't something that happens around us as we sit there, life is an ever-changing, glorious tapestry of color and shapes and sounds and smells and tastes. Life is a dance, and whether we are sitting there observing it, or actively doing something, we are part of that dance. And no matter who we are, we dance perfectly to it. Life dances with us no matter our race, creed, weight, intelligence, goals, virtues, vices, culture, beliefs, or age. But we stop dancing once we stop experiencing. Once we start thinking too much, once we become distracted by imaginary things in our head. These things limit our dancing skills, they send the music off kilter. These things are doubts, doubts about ourselves. These imaginary things may seem very real, and that is why they impede the dance. We trip over our imaginary monsters. These monsters kill us. We all have them to some extent, and in different forms. Hate, depression, egotism, intolerance, envy, anger, ignorance, hunger, cynicism. These monsters destroy us and cripple the dance. And I believe that this is what we are all here to find out. We were all born to dance, but as we grew, our monsters grew too, and we forgot how to dance with life. Many of us lie in wait for that knight in shining armor to come and save us from these monsters. But these monsters are inside our heads. We are the only ones that can fight the monsters that cripple our dance. So we must don the armor, and we must pick up the sword, and we must vanquish our beasts. It seems hard to do, but everyone can do it. We all do it at some point, we look at ourselves and ask, "What am I doing? Why does this happen?" And we can do it. There is nothing that we can't do, even if the monsters have us thinking otherwise. So grab a weapon, and learn to dance again.
It's not about finding opportunity, it's about realizing that they are everywhere!
Aight Then..
Let's get started with this thing! I've got the answers to life. My life that is. I'll share a few with you! Breaking habits is hard, making them is harder.
