❛  surely you will permit me more time in your company than this.  ❜   voice was a velvet coo   —   eyes gazing out to her.   it had been so long, since she last was able to taste these stories in telling  ;   to smell the sands of her childhood,    feel the sun as if it were only yesterday.    tonight she had shared the story of the palace,   her first day there as terrifying,   it all seemed so large and foreign   —  mostly cold.   she could almost hear the breeze.   a sigh left lips as isis lifted herself from the lounge she’d stretched into on the couch.   ❛  but if you must leave in the morning, i appreciate the time we’ve had.  ❜

truth be told  —  she had not meant to hit him   that hard.  but first reflex upon feeling his hands on her forearms was to shove elbow into nose as hard as she could.   isis looked down at the crumpled man  ;  nose bleeding as she heard footsteps approach.   looking up,  isis saw a man standing  (  jaw clenched.   eyes wide.   )   in the alley she had turned down to head back to her apartment.   ❛  he was unconscious when i got here.  ❜   and she thought,  oh darling  —  how far do you think you’ll get with that one ?

                          𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐒  &  𝐇𝐔𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐘.

shortly after being taken from the palace  —  isis was turned into a vampire by her captor. this, unfortunately, did not bode well for the man who thought to keep her. after the process was complete, isis went into a frenzied state  ;  effectively killing him in the process. awaking from the state, isis saw the mangled body, the blood on her own, and went into a catatonic state out of fear for what was happening. up until this point she had lived her life as a normal human, with no indication that she was otherwise. this catatonic state lasted anywhere from ~1000-2000 years  —  most of which she spent sitting in the corner of the room she’d been brought to, or blacked out completely.

when she did snap out of it, isis awoke to an entirely new world. and she was absolutely starving. upon exiting the compound, which was now in the wreckage of a city that once was — isis greeted the new world by killing the first human she saw and draining them. this absolutely horrified her, and she resolved to isolating once more, hoping she would just waste away. but survival brought her back out each time. eventually, isis was able to stomach human food, tolerate the daylight ( without harm, in the beginning it gave her the equivalent of a very very bad sunburn after a few minutes ), and live without blood.

as soon as she realized she was safe to travel amongst humans, isis took advantage of it. by this time it was around 1018 AD. for a while, every move isis made was only to observe and stay in the shadows. she did not want to garner any unwanted attention from anyone —  during most of the middle ages, isis spent her time in egypt, relearning her home as it felt like an alien planet compared to the egypt she had left behind. she began collecting artifacts when she could, and to learn the market of the world. isis immersed herself in the tight knit communities, growing close to those often oppressed by society, and began to fight alongside them in history.

because isis was isolated for so long, she spent a long while feeling disconnected from humans. while she was learning about them, and as the centuries moved along slowly becoming more and more prominent in terms of wealth and ability to navigate the modern eras as they passed her by. isis grew closer with humanity, and began to feel like somewhat of a protector of them. for how long she has been on earth, she still has not lost her ability to view humans as good. isis’s view on humans is almost that of a parent watching their kids take steps and fall — still feeling proud overall. of course there are things in history, continuing throughout, to the modern era, that horrify her about humans but isis still has faith that good will win the day.

isis does not isolate herself from humanity like many of her fellow divinities / vampires may  —  in fact she plays an active role in it. she loves to meet new people, to learn about them, even the most mundane things bring a smile to her face. isis is constantly learning, every person is different and she has had the pleasure of knowing many. while if she does get closer to a person than she usually does, their death will sting, isis is so old now that death is a bittersweet thing to her. the lives of humans are a blink to her, and destroying herself with guilt and sadness over each of their deaths would have blinded her to anything else. so she just tries to enjoy the time she does have with them.

CASUAL WEAR.   varies drastically depending on where she is and what she is doing. these would be outfits that she would just wear either to a lecture or to just go about her usual day. isis does get cold easily  (  despite  —  technically being dead  )  and often bundles up in large coats in the winter unless she is somewhere warm. as with her formal wear, isis either buys her clothes from local shops, new designers, or thrift stores/secondhand shops. she tries to ensure that she makes as many sustainable choices as possible and that includes her clothing.

FORMAL WEAR.   generally isis goes for flowing materials that billow around her. while she has worn form fitting dresses to plenty of events — these are generally the looks that she tends to lean toward. she also gets all of her dresses handmade by less prominent designers rather than going to the well-known designers who don’t need the attention or money.

Gazing upon her had the jackal reminiscing on the young servant girl he once knew back in the palace so, so long ago. Still she stands short before him and he’s half excepting a small gift ( a stone that must’ve caught her eye or a fruit from the gardens ) to be placed in his PALM. Oh how she’s grown— and grown to be something he least excepted. A small grin makes it’s way across Akhematen’s features, something of amusement flickering in his dark gaze, “ Were you scared of me?”

the smile comes as naturally to her now as it had so many lifetimes ago   —   she can almost smell it  ;   hear the sounds of the other palace hands giggling around her. almost reflexively,   isis reaches into the bag hanging from her shoulder   /   lithe fingers revealing a ripe  fig  from it’s depths.   the fruit is offered,   as it had been,   so many times before in their distant past.   ❛  not once.  ❜   isis wonders, amazed at herself, if it would be childish to admit that he had made her feel safer than most others in those palace walls.
