i make art and video game screenshots and i write fic and and you get the idea
if you speak rhetoric that is dangerous to me you don’t get to see my art. me and the block button are in a committed relationship. spam bots also get blocked
commissions aren’t open and they never will be. art trades are, though, let’s chat about it
i’m an adult, bi, polyam and a binary trans man. i am also mentally and physically disabled. if you don’t like that i’d suggest you piss off
I don't usually take any shots during @acrossetheirys, so these aren't great, but I tried to capture some! Nothing fancy, just fun vibes!!
Thank you so much for organizing, and for everyone coming out and being so welcoming. I've really only been on this space for a few months and meeting all your OCs has meant the world to me.
I was finally able to make it to a Walk Across Etheirys! Last one of the year, unfortunately, but I still had a blast! Met lots of new friends and got to hang out with some familiar faces as well. Hoping that I'll be able to make it to at least a few when they start back up again.
Thanks so much to @acrossetheirys for hosting and everyone else for making it such a fun time!
The Dawntrail leg of the Walk @acrossetheirys happened last night, and was delightful as always. I got to spend time taking in the sights and chatting with friends old and new. Just look at this esteemed company!
Many more pictures ad thoughts under the keep reading. Grab a beverage, and let's go for a walk!
I neglected to get any shots of everyone gathering before setting out (oops!) because I was too busy saying hello, and sending out friend requests (Did you know that you are capped at sending 7 friend requests per day? I didn't until last night!).
Like we did on the rite of succession two years ago, we set forth from Tuliyollal. Though this time with a MUCH larger party of adventurers.
The first leg of the trip was plagued by rain, so not the best travel photo weather. Though I have to share this shot of @sisitosito's little straw hat poking out of her tank.
Sun! Flowers! Punutiy! The true Kozama'uka experience (minus all the stuff with reeds).
Onwards to the soaring vistas and towering stonework of Urqopacha
And what would a visit to Urqopacha be without partaking of the hospitality (and mezcal) of the Pelu Pelu. We also picked up a late addition to our party here! It seems The Tyrant was also out traveling Tural, and decided to join our merry band. Bunzo learned a lot about the culture of The Arcadion, Solution 9 training techniques, and which fighters are and are not (allegedly) being mind controlled by cats.
I unfortunately neglected to get any shots of Yak Tel (those dark roads are tricky to drive on, so I left photography up to @laliluluho.
Shaaloani was also distracting. Though mainly because Bunzo was reminiscing about his previous trip through the area where he and Erenville became a couple ❤.
A brief rest stop at camp kitty cat.
We picked up a hitchhiker. @not-eorzeas-finest's Giddion hopped in the Bunzomobile for the northern leg of the journey.
We also crossed paths with another pair of wanderers! Good old Alpha and Omega were also making their way through Shaaloani.
I think they're complaining about my driving. I don't know why. I barely hit anyone.
Howdy.
A smaller, bluer howdy.
I got some shots of Heritage Found, but they are so so dark. You will have to picture it for yourself. It was very gray and black with some purple. You understand. You've seen it.
Speaking of purple! It's everyone's favorite purple city.
A quick stop to cool off after a lot of walking.
And then off to soar through the skies of the saddest place on the Ninth. At least the lights are back on now.
And then we arrive back where this post began. Surrounded by wonderful friends. Tired, grinning from ear to ear, and slightly misty eyed knowing that I will have to wait until next year to do this all again.
Some closer shots of the big group before my sappy final thoughts.
The Stormblood walk 3 months ago was my first time really participating in the social aspects of FFXIV in a meaningful way.I cannot thank everyone who joined in on that walk, and all of the others since then, for making the experience so wonderful. XIV already meant a lot to me as a game and a story, but you all have made it so much more than that. It really is a community full of warm, welcoming, funny, creative people.
I look forward to joining you all next year, from A Realm Reborn all the way through Evercold. Nothing could keep me away.
Organized by @acrossetheirys ! In case you missed this year's walk, here's some highlights to tide you over until we start all over again with the ARR walk in February! Until then, I hope everyone is excited for Beastmaster + Evercold!
@acrossetheirys hosted their Dawntrail Walk last night, and I was able to get some screenshots of the stops we made along the way (plus the pre-walk shenanigans). These are great events to attend, and I'm really glad I chanced upon the post for the Stormblood Walk so I could start doing these. I'm ready to start the Walks all over again when February rolls around!
Finally managed to join One of the Walks Across Etheirys. Had a lot of fun with everyone who joined! With any luck, I'll join again next year for all of them.
Thank you to everyone who could make it out to a walk this year, even if you could only attend one. We had an AMAZING turnout this year for each one, which blew me away. So please know you've all made this a year of walks to remember, and I am eternally grateful for your company.
We hope to see you all again next year, as well as any new faces who wish to join us! We'll be starting in February with ARR so people have time to get through new MSQ! The dates will be posted at the start of 2027!
In the meantime, enjoy Evercold!
Also, please remember to tag us if you post any screenshots! We love sharing them here after every walk!
Good afternoon, my fellow travelers. Today is the day!
We set out on our journey tonight at 8pm (EST), but before we do, I'd like to go over what it is you might expect from this journey tonight. For those who are new, and those who may have forgotten!
First off, our Dawntrail walk will be starting on Zurvan, Materia at the courtyard of Vollok Shoonsa in Tuliyollal.
Upon arrival, please poke Ki'to Vashai for an invite to the cross-world Linkshell if you're not already on it! We will have one for the walks on each data center from here on out so we don't have to bother with PF.
And if you don't already have me friended, please send Ki'to a friend request! This is to guarantee I can grab you for the final picture, as people I don't have friended will not pause in gpose!
We'll be sitting around until showtime, at which point I will give my usual welcome, and then ask that everyone line up behind me for their snacks! Raine will be handling them again this walk, and they will take 2 trades to give out, so please do keep this in mind!
I try to give a bit of wiggle room for people who might be running late, but we will be leaving no later than 8:10 (unless something comes up that requires an extension!)
If you happen to arrive any later, please send a /tell to Ki'to Vashai and I will send you our current coordinates! Just note that we will still be moving, so you'll have to catch up! Unless we're at a rest area, of course.
Speaking of, our rest areas tonight will be at Wachunpelo, Mehwahhetsoan, and the Arcadion. Each rest area will allow everyone a 10 minute break to hydrate, visit the bathroom, or just chat amongst one another!
The walk itself should take around 2.5 hours or so depending on our pace. That said, you're welcome to come and go as you please. We won't be offended, I promise!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please send us a DM, or send me a /tell!
First time to Materia? Need help? Click through the read more!
For those new to DC travel to Materia, here's a handy little guide to help!
If you try to DC travel straight out the gate, you'll get this little message
What you want to do is back out to the main menu, and go to Data Center
and select Oceania!
This will bring you to OCE's servers for a time, where you can then back out and switch back to your home server.
With this, you've just "pinged" OCE, and are ready for DC travel!
Queue your desired character up from the DC travel list, and...
Voila! Off you go to claim the tag of <<Voyager>> for the night!
Seeing people bitch about how "the game doesn't allow you to kill Fordola" is so idiotic
This whole view of "antagonists/villains need to be there for the good guys to kill" is idiotic
Sure sometimes it makes sense that they need to kill the antagonist/villain, but how and why is that interesting to see?
It's the most common and banal trope any piece of media can have
Why kill them off when you can see how and why they got where they are now, and be such a heroic and inspirational figure that you make them think on their actions, behaviour and belief system to the point that they seek help? To the point that they hold you as a role model
Isn't that what a protagonist should aim for if you're claiming you're so "good hero" coded? Why do you aim to kill villains just because they were assigned that role?
Hell I would've loved a slow Yotsuyu redemption arc even!
Fordola can't even count as an antagonist/villain in the first place. She's a consequence of indoctrination and manipulation by an oppressive force. She's not a mastermind, she was used and indoctrinated as much as the others that had fallen for the Empire propaganda. It made perfect sense that she'd be offered support and guidance, a chance to see the truth, realize her mistakes and do better.
What the fuck kind of lessons would your piece of media hope to teach if everyone who thought differently than the hero was promptly stabbed to death by them instead every time?
Zenos' royal life: Coerced in the womb; presented on a spotless tray or cradle for his great-grandparent's inspection; bestowed with a sublime name; held in the arms of a succession of weeping women; led into the funeral of the woman who gave birth to him; nurtured, nourished, and seated right at the dining table facing his father; groomed, adorned, and force-fed until the age of fourteen, only to be granted one limited form of pleasure. Pick up the sword. Become Zenos.
eowyn lane cared not for the stifling rules of his see, not if it meant he couldn’t bring the dashing fellow he rescued during the battle of carteneau. for vying hopeful girls hoping for his hand, this was devastating. for aldritch, it was everything. family, at long last.
you were supposed to be helping with emporium’s starlight celebration fixtures, but you were far too tired for that. snow had blanketed the hinterlands like powdered sugar, leaving the colony looking like a gingerbread town. you could see the lights twinkling through your window, cutting through the night, and perhaps your eldest wanted to see them, too. he was small, and brown, just like his father…
