A kind of slowburn, first time meeting orter and confessing eachother feelings. PART 1

Orter has no interest in finding a partner or romantic interest. You became a visionary 2 years after him and you knew eachother from afar, like he was just aware of your existance, and the same for you.
But since you became a visionary, your paths crossed more and had a few interactions. Of course orter isn't the kind of person to fall in love at first sight or to be mesmarized by looks, orter is much deeper, or so he seems to be.
You were administrating the department of dangerous magic, meaning, rare type of magic and genarally magic that has no phisical form( eg: graviole for lance, whereas sand magic has a physical ,touchable form)
So a first interaction goes like this
Y/n "I came here to give you this document"
'Damn that was awkward as fk i mean i guess akwardness is the normal for me but anyway, i guess he really doesn t like me ' -you thought
You have a break and meet with other visionaries in a break room of some sort of hallway. The bureau was huge, like a palace.
You sit next to kaldo who asks you how is your first day here
" is ok, i will get used to.things" you answer while eating your food
He shows you a plate, with some sashimi and what looked like syrup "you want some? " asks kaldo with a lovely smile
*Other visionaries thoughts as they see the scene developes*
Ryoh "is happening, this is the entering ritual , lets see "
Soohia " poor girl, we all have been there"
Renatus " hmm? Oh that's gonna be interesting.
You take a bite and swallow
Everyone is in shook , you didnt have a change in face nothing
Kaldo "an angel sent from gods
Renatus "i want to die " (pun intended)
Kaldos eyes are fully opened , he looks at you with admirtion that the honey covered sashimi never had part of.
After a month of working at the magic bureau, you had this routine of eating lunch with others visionaries. You had a few missions.
Now there was a case of a magicless person being in court. You were not agreeing with executing them and the policy the magic world was following now, good thing is you had a higher power than a judge and payed him a reasonable sum to let that person live . You talked to that person " here is my number, please come to me if anything happens" since you were a visionary you had a big salary and managed to help that person for now . You knew you cant do it for everyone , but you wished no one heard about this case.
Orter sprints through your office door like a sand storm (literally)
"What is the meaning of this"
"What?" (You ask confused, but you kinda knew very well what was coming)
He shoves the paper in front of you
"You broke extremly important rules... and you are a divine visionary.." he keeps eye contact with you his eyes consuming you, and almost feels like he is reading you
" I did what i think was right"
"Then why do you think rules and regulations exist?" He doesn't even blink, his sand is next to you. He wasn't yelling, his tone was deep and composed and almost sounded like a teacher.
" I honestly do not know , but i do know that a person doesn't deserve to be killed for existing ,has that person done something wrong? Do you think they chose to be magicless, can 't you see the giant holes this whole system has? "
"Still you didn't even consulted, and by doing this you are considered a criminal yourself-"
"Because i knew what would have happened. Then execute me , you, here, kill me as if you would've killed a magicless person " you looked him straight in the eyes , though it was hard maintaining eye contact.
The words weighted heavy on orter, he didn't wanted to kill you, the problem is he was understanding your point, he just had a giant interior conflict , his duty, his promise to his dead friend, but what about himself?
Orter sighed, twirled rapidly, and left the office.
You went to dinner with other visionaries , it was ryoh birthday and invited you to a restaurant, orter said initially that he wont come , but hear that you do , so last min he changed. He was lying to himself telling himself that he wanted to see your true intentions that s why he was interested in what you were doing ,if you are trustworthy enough ,after that incident.
You were seated next to kaldo and at some point both of you were laughing breathless, he put honey in soup and ate it all.
Orter was looking, and realised he never saw you laugh since he met you it was the first time you were smiling, though was like a heiyna, he felt like he wanted to make you simle like that too.
Why was he feeling like this , he never was or wanted to be interested in a partner
Though he couldn t take his eyes off you, he tryed to look away and do something else to not look wierd.
One day orter sees one of the bureau employes witha bouqet of flowers, he hrars him talking to anotger guy "do you think miss y/n likes flowers?"
Later the day, he sees you on the corridor followed by that guy eho gives you the flowers " this is for you, i was wondering if you would like to go out one day"
You looked at him , he seemed like an innocent person, who was truly showing thier affection , but you didn't felt anything towrds him.
"Thank you for the flowers, they are beautiful. If going out mean sa date, then i am sotry i have to decline. But if you ever want to talk to someone over a drink or lunch, you are always welcome."
Orter felt relived when he heard you say that, and that made him annoyed , he had a duty and rules to follow.
One day kaldo, who seemed to have realized what was going on, so he intentionally went to talk to you when orter was around , it was a way of having fun for kaldo, but he wanted to make orter take a step forward or kaldo mabye just loves the chaos. Later , orter enters annoyed in kaldo s office .
"Orter, how are you?" Asks kaldo with a sweet smile
"What- ,why yould you bring her name in discussion (it took orter 2 sec to compose himself ) is not in my interest what is halpening with her , she has her life."
"Is that so "kaldo smiles
You enter to deliver a mountain of paper.
"Oh, sorry if i was interrupting "
" orter left without looking at you in a fast walk"
"Kaldo san, do you think orter hates me that much? I know he may not like me for my way of work."
(You and kaldo share 1 braincell when together ,also he didn't want to tell you ,because after all he had no confirmation)
"Hmmm i think asking him directly would give you the answer " -kaldo
"Hmmm that might be right thank you kaldo ! "-y/n
