He knows something is off when you ignore your favorite snack that he has set out for you on the counter, dropping your bags by the door and unpacking them wordlessly, robotic in motion, life devoid behind your heavy eyelids.

He tries to hug you, but you absently brush him off, setting your now empty lunch box on the countertop and adjust your work bag to leave it on the drop zone by the door, which is your normal, familiar routine.

Abel, the poor man, is flailing on the inside, wondering if he did something wrong. How could you not want your snack you loved so much? You always smiled when he surprised you!

Today, however, you can't muster a smile, only feeling the weight of the world your shoulders that is insurmountable and impossible to describe. You fight off the tears, hard, you really do.

"Angel, please, what's wrong?" He takes a step towards you, resting his hand on your shoulder, causing you to flinch.

"Abel, I can't. Please...I can't."

"W-why?" his eyes are large as saucers, hands fidgeting unsure how to navigate the situation. Usually, he would give you your peace, but he gets a feeling in his bones alerting him to not leave you alone.

You swallow, shoulders tensing while you pace around. "Because I don't want to take my anger out on you! Everything has gone fucking wrong today, and I want to disappear for a long time and I loathe myself. How can you even live with me? I can barely hold myself together, shit!!" You pluck an eyebrow in frustration, a nervous habit you haven't been able to break.

Abel swallows nervously unsure how to reply, but he whisks himself away to your shared room, catching your attention, but does little to ease the tension in your body. Shit you really have pushed him away for good, you think.

In a few moments he reappears, motioning for you to walk with him through the doorway of the bedroom, and you oblige, because it is not like the day could get any worse.

The lights flicker off for a moment then burst into a dazzling soft glow of fairy lights strung along the walls, boasting warmth, peace, and comfort.

It is everything you need in that moment, but upon second look Abel motions towards the blanket fort he has haphazardly built in the middle of the bed, perfectly imperfect.

How he managed to make your day all the more brighter is a mystery to you, and you are sure to thank him with a thousand kisses and all the cuddles. All of the Heavenly host would know the claim you have on him - on his very heart and soul.

"In case you were wondering, I don't deal with you, Angel, nor do I tolerate you. I want to make your days better. For you," he says, motioning you to join him on the bed, where he wraps his arms around you protectively, his wings nestling you both in a cocoon, oblivious to the world beyond.

This man dyes his roots. He’s been in heaven for thousands of years, had to deal with Adam for most of them, plus stress of becoming yknow LEADER OF THE ARMY. His hair is fully white at this point.

We all know he’s a taffy man, but I can TOTALLY SEE THIS MAN living for the black licorice taffy until he finds PEPPERMINT TAFFY. That shit HITS. With his love of Christmas?? Absolutely loves that shit

I can see him loving all the old people candies. Bro lived through centuries of development, so it’s just nostalgia at this point.

This man can COOK. Again centuries of development and meeting and talking with new winners and they say, the best way through the heart is the stomach. Of course he loves his sweets but his dad LOVED that savory shit. So he can make anything.

His favorite food is Americanized Chinese food. Sweet, spicy and savory, all the flavors.

He definitely cried when someone yelled at him for not washing his rice, and that he didn’t have a rice cooker. HE DIDN’T KNOW BETTER, HE NEVER EVEN HAD A STOVE. But he washes his rice now and has all the specialty cooking equipment.

He is a freeze baby. This man is in sweaters, under blankets, AS BUNDLED UP AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE. Full Marshmallow snow suit, but he LOVES IT. Like he hates feeling cold but the feeling of being bundled up is his ideal. So his house is like at a solid 68-70 degrees f so he can wrap up in blankets around the house.

Winter is def his favorite time of year. Christmas? Snow? The lights? The quiet of being on a night walk and hearing the snow crunch? His ideal.

His love language is definitely gift giving. He would get you the entire world if he could. Flowers? Trinkets? Bobbles? Doo dads? Tchotchkes? Everything that makes him think of you he gets it to give to you. But what he prefers? Words of affirmation. He’s a bit insecure so just reminding him that he’s loved, he’s worth it, he is appreciated? It’s all it takes for him to look at you like you hung the stars.

Man is CLINGY. He just would love to be on your hip at all times. Why would he go out and do anything if he can’t be with his favorite person? He’s just gonna be thinking about you the entire time so why not have you with him. He’ll let you have your alone time, but you bet your ASS you’re coming home to a homemade dinner and a pillow fort so you can cuddle and watch movies until you both pass out

Abel Headcanons:

- Surprisingly, he likes spicy foods just as much as sweets.

- He's almost always anxious. Just a lil ball of joy, sweetness, innocence, and anxiety 🥰

- He's insecure af, so along with being a people pleaser he also always tries to make sure no matter the situation he's coming off as nice, so he's not disliked, and will take back or explain away anything he realizes could even be a little rude.

- He's really clingy due to being denied physical affection by Adam, who often told him things such as hugs were childish, pathetic, and weak minded.

- He's overly apologetic and often just stops talking during conversations when he notices the other talking less, leading him to believe he's annoying them. So he stops talking, than apologizes for probably being annoying.

- He's often very emotional, but usually tries to hide it...usually failing miserably.

- He often tries to avoid talking about himself, especially his emotional well-being, since he was often told being emotional was a sign of weakness. Instead he tries to always be the "therapist friend" for everyone.

- He struggles to form relationships because of his lack of really prominent parental figures, especially with his dad.

- He wears a hat to hide scars from his death.

Abel's relationships - headcanons + developments:

Adam - Adam had a tendency to neglect and/or ignore, and brush off Abel, often wanting nothing to do with him, due to them being almost polar opposites. Despite this, Abel still strives to make Adam proud and earn his love. However, after his second death, Adam has been trying to develop a good relationship with Abel.

Eve - Eve raised Abel mostly by herself, with the occasional help from Cain. Because of this, he remembers liking his mom.

Cain - Before the jealousy and murder, Cain and Abel were decently close. He made the occasional cruel joke or pulled the occasional cruel prank, but he made sure he was alright in the end. So despite being killed by him, Abel remembers really liking Cain, and often finds himself missing his older brother.

Emily - His best friend! She's one of his favorite people, and hangs out with her when she has time.

Peter - His boyfriend! He absolutely loves him, and he's his favorite person! He hangs out with him when Peter gets the time, and if he's bored enough, he'll hang out at the gates and chat with him when there's no one to let in.

Vox - He talked to him after the war, and came to the conclusion that he's not actually too bad when he's in a better mindset.
