Thank goodness that is over
Here is Anthrax's thrash over time rating. I hadn't given Anthrax a chance before I made this graph. 4 of their albums have made it into my thrash playlist. For a more detailed review click here.
SLAYER! For a more detailed review click here.
Here's Megadeth's thrashness over time. Megadeth really didn't think how cluttered a graph of their album releases would look when they were choosing the names. How short sighted. For a more detailed review click here.
There isn't much correlation between how thrash you are and how many albums you sell.
So a while ago I sat down and attempted to rate how thrash every song by The Big 4 was. Here's the graph for Metallica. Does it make sense to use a line graph instead of a bar chart or something more discreet? I think yes as the band wouldn't have suddenly got less thrash in 1990, they would have slowly noobed out over time. The important thing to remember here is that, like everything on ilikegraphs, this is fact and not opinion. For a more detailed review click here.
Where have I seen the most bands? Bristol, followed by Bloodstock (Catton). I've only seen one band outside of Europe, and that was a Metal covers band in Bangkok. I can't remember what they were called though... :-( Fun Fact: I saw exactly the same amount of bands in 3 Hellfests as I did in 3 years of living in Southampton.
Some "People" asked what I was hiding behind my Other genre in the last chart. This. This monstrosity. Some highlights for the lazy: - Eurodance - Kawaii Metal - Russian Rap - Drone "Why is there still an Other catagory?!" I hear you think. Well, I got all of the genres for the last graph from last.fm. Unfortunately smaller bands only have a few tags, and all it takes is for one idiot to think that All, Seen Live, or Within The Ruins are valid genres and everything is ruined. So I have have lumped all of the #notevenarguablygenres together. Also there seems to be some angry internet style quest to tag every band with Under 2000 Listeners.
Here's a chart of the genres of different bands I have seen. Genres according to Last.fm. I'm surprised that Death Metal is the biggest, perhaps it is because it is a more encompassing genre than most of the others.
It's been 10 years since I went to my first gig, so brace yourself for a load of gig data analysis. As you can see, the total number of bands I have seen is increasing at an increasing rate. In fact, if this trend continues I will have seen 13,000 bands by 2025 according to Wolfram Alpha. Sounds legit.
Just watched the new #StarWars trailer. Here is a graph of how excited I was for the film over the duration of the trailer. Key points: [0] I've been suspicious since the Disney involvement. The reason I've been maintaining a steady 0 rather than a -5 is that it's hard to believe that anyone is as skilled at ruining things as George Lucas. [1] Tatooine (Probably). [2] Generic low voice, at this point I was expecting a prophecy. [3] First bit of Williams [4] Shitty rolling nonsense [5] Dem X-wingz [6] Gimmick [7] His skills have surpassed listing lazily to the left [8] No Jar Jar
