This goes for queer and trans resistance too! #blacklivesmatter #checkyourrecord #illgowithyou
So I just found this movement, and now I'm crying. Thank you guys so much. I didn't know that this was a thing and I've never been comfortable in gendered spaces on my own, I have been okay ish with my best friend but only when she's directly next to me. Thank you so much for this. I didn't know that something could mean so much to me but this does. Thank you thank you thank you.
Thank you! Thank you for your bravery and for your authentic, incredible, wild self. We are proud to live in your world.
I finished my new shirt based on the #illgowithyou movement ^_^ I’m so happy with how it turned out! I hope it helps someone! At the very least, I hope people see it and know they have support if they need it!
My lanyard for convention season has arrived. #IllGoWithYou
Woohoo!
I would like to purchase a couple stickers or buttons. I want to make sure I am giving to the origin of the I'll go with you organization. There already seems to be others trying to rip you off.
There are! And we so appreciate you taking the time and effort to buy from our high-quality, handmade, support-your-queers buttonmaker. You can find them at buttonbuttonbuttons.com
Have there been any stories shared where a transgender person was able to utilize an #illgowithyou ally to go to the bathroom safely? This idea is so great, but I'm concerned that it's more of a point of pride for allies rather than a true tool for trans* folk. Yes, allies should feel proud. Yet, as an ally, I want to know that I'm doing my very best to support my transgender siblings. Is it enough to just prominently where the button or can I do more?
That is a REALLY good and valid question. The answer? We don’t know. I (Organizer D) know of two people who were approached for bathroom accompaniment, but here’s the thing - we do get stories ALL THE TIME of people who see the buttons and smile, or see the buttons and give The Nod, and other small gestures. That tells us we’re doing something small, but significant, to contribute to a safer, friendlier atmosphere. So yeah, DO THAT! AND use our page to pay attention to what’s going on in the trans health and legal worlds. Use your voice to yell at legislators, to push for trans-inclusive legislation, healthcare, schools and groups. A button is a beginning, but using your voice? That’s where the REAL change starts to happen.
This needs to become a thing
Is totally a thing. Thanks for helping it become a thing! [image: a description of how #illgowithyou works]

One of my Facebook friends named Melanie posted this, and I think you guys should check it out. I already bought five buttons, and I think this is a really genius idea. Our transgender brothers and sisters need allies.

Seriously, check it out! Buttons start at $1. :)

Way to go, #SeattleCenter. #illgowithyou
Is there any way possible that I can ask if you guys can make a necklace/bracelet #illgowithyou charm or something? Because I understand buttons however, for me I lose them or it slips out so quick out of my backpack or bag. I don't like that feeling so, I thought if maybe if bracelet or necklace is cool to make.
Several people have asked about wristbands/bracelets. The extended answers as to why we do not and will likely not have them in the near future (and why I personally do not encourage them) are these..
1. "Awareness" wristbands are great to fundraise and show passive solidarity with a particular cause, but they do not make reliable beacons for those seeking an ally.
#IllGoWithYou is not a passive cause. Being an ally requires being an active advocate for those who may need you to accompany them in gendered spaces (or other situations where an ally is needed). And being active means being easily visible to those looking for you.
Bracelets are not easy to read in passing, in low light, or in crowded situations. They are not up front and center, as a button, patch, or sticker may be. We will soon be adding lanyards and zipper pulls (lanyards by the end of the month, pulls next week), too. These are also very visible items which act as functional beacons.
2. Making the bracelets match the recognizable color scheme (the trans flag + our tag) is cost-prohibitive and I - Organizer J - am not comfortable with passing that cost along to you at the current price points I'm finding. If I can find a manufacturer within the United States to make them at a low cost, in the style they need to be... I will consider carrying them.
I have been looking and will continue to do so, because there are enough requests that it can't necessarily hurt to have as a backup beacon for those who are at water parks, pools, beaches, etc. during the summer months.
However, I still go back to the first point: items should be moderately visible (at minimum) and easily recognizable, making them functional beacons to those who need an ally. Buttons, stickers, patches, zipper pulls, and lanyards are all great functional tools for this.
If you have other suggestions, please let us know in the comments. We are always open to them!
Much love and immense gratitude for your enthusiasm & support,
Organizer J
Got my buttons in today. I’m about to proudly stick all 5 of them into stuff I use all the time like my favorite hoodie and my purse and my backpack and just anywhere completely visible. #IllGoWithYou.
I just stood for over three hours at a city council meeting to protect trans rights to bathrooms
So when I got home from school (at 4:45) I was informed that there was a city council meeting tonight at 6:00 where they would vote on the “Bathroom Bill” (an ordinance that will deny trans peoples rights to use the bathroom that they identify for simply because of whats on their birth certificate) so I immediately began getting ready to join the argument against the ordinance even though i might get harassed for it. (I live in a very conservative part of Texas so most people at my school are against trans and gay rights.) I began writing down a bunch of points and facts to bring up and got dressed professionally so I could make a good argument and have a respectable appearance. As people were making arguments, they kept bringing up how they didnt want their children seeing the opposite sex’s genitalia so when I went up to speak I made a sass remark about how stalls are a thing. By the end of my speech (which was limited to three minutes) most of the crowd (LGBT+ supporters) were clapping and whooping. Keep in mind that I was doing all of this with my twin sister by my side adding points and making the speech with me. When I was done the mayor remarked how he’d never seen two people to go up and say the speech together. In the end the Mayor was the only person for the “Bathroom Bill” so it didn’t even go to vote because he couldn’t get a second.
