I still have hope that Hirose and Nakamura will end up together, i even start to have headcanons about their life as married couple (i really hope we have extra scenes in the final episode about adult Nakamura who Successfully went for it 🥹 holding the Yokohama photo and recalling his old memories of his teenage love for Hirose , it gives me "teasing master takagi-san" manga vibe like how the author published a sequel about her life with her husband nishikata and their daughter chi)

Nakamura might be one of the best representations of autistic loneliness and self isolation I’ve ever seen in anime to be honest

between completely missing the social cues to follow when hirose and his group leave, (and only following after a direct invitation that in most real cases isn’t given)

and being bullied out of his interests and having no friends mentioned until hirose. As someone with autism, he’s seriously relatable and very dear to me in his well done representation

I keep yapping about this episode but I have to talk about how funny it is to me that Hirose still has a little under half his drink left and just immediately uses it as an excuse to get Nakamura more coffee

if the roles were reversed, Nakamura probably would’ve spent two minutes psyching himself up with little fantasies of chivalrously tending to Hirose’s need for more refreshments, and/or tried to finish his own drink faster to have that excuse to do so, and then missed his chance to actually do the sweet, considerate gesture

but Hirose sees his chance and leaps at it with no hesitation at all, nevermind that his excuse is hella flimsy (not that Nakamura noticed)
