The bowls are wonderfully versatile and can easily be customized to fit your taste-buds. Smoothie Ingredients: 2 frozen acai super fruit packs 1/2 cup frozen banana 1 cup frozen pineapple 1/2 cup frozen strawberries 2 drops doTERRA Lime essential oil 1 cup water Topping Ingredients: 1/4 cup granola 1 tablespoon chia seeds 1/4 cup fresh blueberries 1/2 avocado 1 tablespoon honey 1/4 cup fresh raspberries 1/2 cup fresh strawberries *Makes 2-3 servings
Health Highlights: Don’t let the sweet taste of the Acai bowl fool you—it is jam-packed with nutritious berries that provide health benefits you may not know about. It turns out that strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries add more than just flavor to this Acai recipe. Strawberries- Studies have shown that the incidence of asthma is lower with a higher intake of nutrients like Vitamin C—a nutrient conveniently found in delicious strawberries.[1] Blueberries- Because blueberries are rich in antioxidants, they can be helpful in inhibiting bacteria that contributes to infections like Urinary Tract Infections (UTI). Along with antioxidants, blueberries contain other substances that reduce and ward off UTI symptoms.[2] Raspberries- The powerful raspberry has been shown to fight against inflammatory conditions like arthritis and gout, by turning off signals sent by enzymes that trigger the body’s inflammatory response.[3] Acai (pronounces ah-saw-ee) is a delicious Brazilian super fruit that is packed full of nutrients and tastes like a chocolatey blueberry. DIY Natural Alternative to Fabric Softener and Dryer Sheets
What You Need: 100% Wool Yarn Or Other 100% Animal Yarn Pantyhose (Upcycling Idea: Reuse pantyhose with runs in them) Directions: 1. Take the end of the yarn and wrap it around your middle and index finger 10 times. Remove it from the fingers and then wrap 2-3 times around the middle (it should look like a bow). This will be the start of your ball. 2. Keep tightly wrapping the yarn around the start, working toward making a round shape. Once your ball is roughly the size of a tennis ball, cut the yarn and tuck the ends into the sides of the ball. Repeat this process until you have created four or more balls of yarn. 3. Cut one leg off of the pantyhose. Place one ball into the bottom of the leg and tie a knot right above the ball with the pantyhose to secure it in place. Repeat until all the balls have been added and secured. 4. Once the balls are tightly secured in the pantyhose, put them in the washer (can be with a load of your dirty laundry) and wash on the hottest setting. This will allow the yarn to felt. Felting will make the yarn fuse together, resulting in a solid ball. Once it has been washed, dry it thoroughly in the dryer at the highest heat setting. 5. After the balls are completely dry, remove them from the pantyhose and they’re ready for use! Before drying your next load of laundry, add your favorite dōTERRA essential oil to 4-6 dryer balls, toss them in the dryer, and enjoy the soft, fluffy, wonderful-smelling fruits of your labor. Editor’s tip: 2-3 drops of essential oil per ball should last a few loads. Add more drops if you would like a stronger scent.
Guide to Tin Foil Dinners
Preparing a tin foil dinner is simple, delicious, and fun—whether you are venturing out in the great outdoors, or staying at home. Here are a few tips and recipes for making tasty tin foil dinners your family will love.
USEFUL TIPS: 1.Use heavy duty foil to avoid ripping. 2. Place the food on the shiny side of the tin foil to help food cook faster and more evenly. 3. Use cooking spray on the foil before adding your ingredients. 4. Cut up your meat and vegetables into small bite-size pieces to expedite the cooking process. 5. Place meat on the bottom. Softer vegetables like bell peppers and onions should be placed in the middle of the meal (not near the tinfoil) to prevent burning. 6. Add more seasoning than normal. Mix in seasoning into your meat and your vegetables. You can also add a few slices of butter, or drizzle olive oil on the top of your meat and vegetables for additional flavor and moisture. 7. Double wrap your dinner, especially if your food is heavy, or if you plan to eat directly from the pack. 8. Make sure to cook in the coals and not the flames to avoid burning your dinner. The bed of coals needs to be big enough so all the dinners can be cooked at the same time. You can place a few coals on the top. When cooking at home, you can throw your dinner in the oven or on a grill. How to Wrap and Seal Your Dinner 1. Tear off a sheet of foil large enough (at least 12 inches long) to cover and seal your dinner. 2. Place the food in the middle of the foil. 3. Bring the long sides together in the center and tightly fold them together toward the food. Leave 1–2 inches between the food and the end of the fold 4. Tightly roll up the shorter sides, again leaving an inch or so of space between the end of the fold and the food.
Sauteed Cannellini Bean Quick Bowl with Purple Peppers, Kale, and Lemon essential oil
Serves 2-4
INGREDIENTS 1 bunch (12 ounces / 340 grams) Tuscan kale (also known as dinosaur kale or lacinato kale) stems removed 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1 can Cannellini beans 2-3 tablespoons liquid from Cannellini beans, reserved 1/4 teaspoon fine grain sea salt 1/3 cup (1 1/2 ounces / 45 grams) walnuts, lightly toasted and chopped 2 heirloom purple peppers, sliced into a thick julienne (If you don’t have a farmer’s market nearby from whence to purchase these, you can use regular bell peppers, or even garlic. ) 5-10 drops of Lemon essential oil (It seems like a lot, but the earthiness of the beans and kale requires a good amount of citrusy brightness.) 1/3 cup (1/2 ounce / 15 grams) freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional) DIRECTIONS 1. Drain can of beans, reserving 2-3 tablespoons of liquid. Rinse beans and shake off as much as water as possible. 2. Lay beans out on a paper towel in a single layer and gently press another paper towel on top of them to get off even more water. 3. Chop the kale, wash it, and shake off as much water as you can. Set aside. 4. Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat in the widest skillet you own. 5. Add the beans in a single layer. Stir to coat the beans, then let them sit long enough to brown lightly on one side, about 3 or 4 minutes, before turning to brown the other side, also about 3 or 4 minutes. The beans should be golden and a bit crunchy on the outside. 6. Add purple peppers and saute until tender-crisp. Add the kale and salt to the pan and cook for less than a minute, just long enough for the kale to lose a bit of its structure. 7. Stir in the walnuts, wait ten seconds, and add desired amount of Lemon essential oil. 8. If the mix seems too dry, add the reserved liquid from beans and stir, then remove from heat.
