[Little Franklin blog I made to match @lets-rob-a-poet ! everyone is free to interact though!!]
The little fella did say his name was Bobby when I asked, yes! He was at Dunford Street, talking with a boy called Clark, I believe. I asked them if they knew anything about that fire in Mrs Panfreyâs home- the one she lived in, I mean- and the poor boys seemed terrified! Tell you what, Iâm going to pick up some more ink for the Lord in town tomorrow, if I see them, Iâll take them back with me, alright?
Please do.
Hey, does your late sister have a kid you never found? A shoe-shiner I saw on the street was remarkably like you. About yay high, like 5, 6 years old maybe? I couldnât stay, but I can tell you where he was if youâd like?
You found Bobby?!
Franklin, you know how in books people walk away at the worst possible time and misunderstand their partners, so they think theyâre lying to them about their feelings? Thatâs whatâs happened to the Lord.
I realise that. Just. Too fucking late.
Franklin is sitting in the kitchen, cleaning pieces of the silverware carefully, sleeves carefully rolled up to keep his uniform neat. He nods in Liz's direction when she passes through, smiling. Another of the kitchen boys, one he doesn't see often, turns to him once she's gone, grinning.
"Good job on getting a promotion, Frankie boy."
Franklin frowns. He doesn't usually mind the nickname, but doesn't like how it sounds in his mouth.
"What do you mean?"
"Promotion to bed warmer," the other laughs. "I mean, I'm sure he's very nice to have, and you're sure to be financially set for life. It's smart, really."
"You think?" Franklin asks, voice carefully light, sounding casual as he very gently puts down the spoon he's holding before he bends it in his rage.
"Obviously. I mean, I hope you don't mind me saying."
"I do, actually." Franklin stands, walks slowly up to the other man. When he speaks again, his voice is low and dangerous. "In fact, if you ever speak about him that way again, I'll throw you out of this fucking house myself. You're talking about the love of my life here."
Percy happens to be walking past the kitchens when he hears a conversation happening in the kitchens. He didn't mean to eavesdrop. He found it deplorable when the other servants did it to him and Franklin. But as he hears his love say,
you think?
In a carefully lighthearted tone, Percy could feel his heart break softly. Before the conversation could finish, he ran quickly away, desperately trying not to be heard.
It wasn't until he made it outside into a tree covered part of the property that he wept. Had he been wrong? Had he been lied to? Did Franklin just do this for this quote "promotion".
He continued sobbing for quite some time, sitting under the canopy before he managed to compose himself.

Franklin let go with disgusted sneer, walking away and back to his task in tense silence. One by one, he put every piece of silverware away in their respective spots, put the boxes away, and left the kitchen, seeking the comfort of Percy's presence. He wasn't in his study, nor in the library.
Glancing at the window, he caught sight of him outside and rushed down to meet him, looking stricken when he saw Percy's face. Something felt... wrong.
"Is something the matter, my love?"
Percy winced at the question. It felt like a dagger through his heart, but he needed to. Remain composed. Be the bigger man. Even if it hurt him so...
"I'm fine."
He kept his tone steady and distant. He purposefully didn't look at him... it hurt too much to think about. His brain was grasping at what he just heard versus how he felt and how Franklin acted with him when they were alone. It was... confusing.
Franklin felt that distance, it reminded of how Percy talked to him sometimes before they got together. He tried not to let it hurt him too much, gently putting a hand on Percy's arm.
"You know you can talk to me... right? I might not understand, but I'll always listen."
Percy continued, forcing himself to look down. He wanted to scream. To cry out in pain, but it felt. Wrong. Why would Franklin agree that he got a promotion like that and then also still care about him? He could feel his eyes tearing up again, and he turned away. Desperately trying not to show how hurt he was. But it was very, very clear.
"You... you don't need to comfort me... just because you're In the position-"
His voice cracks, and he lets out a sob, keeping himself turned away from Franklin. He desperately wanted Franklin's comfort, but he was also the one who made him hurt so much. He was exceptionally conflicted... so all he could do was cry.
Franklin was instantly horrified, cupping his face and desperately trying to dry his tears.
"S-sir, I... Percy..." He actually used the man's name, trying to get his attention. "I don't understand what brought on this. I thought everything was perfect, and now..."
Now, the man he was in love with was upset, and he couldn't beat it.
Percy started openly sobbing harder. Everything was so confusing, and now Franklin seemingly was trying to actively comfort him? Was this genuine, or was this just him doing his duty? God, he wished he hadn't fallen for his own butler.
When he finally got his sobbing under control enough to talk, through hiccups he asked,
"Was-"
hic
"any of t-this-"
hic
"real...?"
Hic
"Or-"
hic
"have i-"
hic
"just been a-"
hic
"foolish-"
hic
"meal ticket?"
He desperately wished he sounded less like a petulant child as he asked that, but as he asked, he stood up and, with tears in his eyes, searched Franklin's face for the truth.
Franklin's heart broke a tiny bit more with every word, until he was tearing up as well. When he realised where this was coming from, he felt a spark of rage.
"This fucking... rat!" Franklin looked so very distressed, wide eyes meeting Percy's pleadingly. "Sir, I... I've been in love with you for so long. Of course it's real, it's all real, I swear, George is just a stupid asshole-"
He should've actually hit him, Franklin decides, though he's not a violent person usually, but a pretty shy and soft spoken boy.

"To my dearest companipn,
The love of my life.
With your warmest brown eyes,
And your sharp vulgar mind.
Listen to what I say,
Like a song under the sun.
For I'm left absolutely captivated,
By my dearest one."
"To you my love. From a butler, to my lover."
A small child, a young girl who was just barely at the age of seven, runs around actively in the grant and large halls of the Cunningham estate, being joyful and carefree as any child would. But that is when she accidentally ran headfirst into two tall figures and fell down on her bottom. âOw.â
Franklin and Percy both stopped what they were both doing and looked down at the small girl in front of them, as she tilted her head up to look at them apologetically, they recognized her face all too well -Isabelle, daughter of the head chef Maria.
âOh, hello Isa,â Percy said, using the nickname specifically for her as he crouched down to her level. âHow many times did we have to tell you to not run around the house?â He questioned as Franklin nodded in agreement, but couldnât help but smile at the sight of Percy interacting with Isabelle, wondering how it would be like to start a family with the love of his life. âSorry Mr. Percy, its just that my mums really busy at the moment cooking and Iâm not allowed in the kitchen, and Iâm not allowed outside because its raining..so I have nothing else to do.â Isabelle explained softly, looking down at her feet shyly as she soothed down her little dress before she had the courage to look up at the two men.
"Hm. Well. We can't have that, now can we? Hmmm."
Percy helps Isabelle onto her feet and glances towards Franklin before looking back at Isabelle. He looked contemplative for a moment before smiling lightly.
"I'm absolutely sure that some of my old toys are somewhere in this building. Would you like to help me find them?"
He knew his mother certainly hadn't thrown anything away, and since he hadn't spent any time going through more of the storage areas of the house, he was certain something had to be within one of these rooms.
"Do you have an idea of where to start, Franklin?"
@ilovelimoricks (no pressure)
Franklin looked fondly at the two of them, then thought through the question.
"Well... perhaps in the attic, sir."
He crouched to meet Isabelle's eyes, smiling at her.
"Would you like me to go look?"

*thereâs a knock on the door. She you open it, you find a man slightly older than middle aged with white hair standing outside the door. Heâs wearing a monocle, a top hat, and a fancy suit. Heâs one of those hard-to-categorise fellows, still a working man, but obviously rich enough to blend in with Lords*
Ah, you must be Mr Cunninghamâs butler! Pleased to make your acquaintance.
*he shifts the leather briefcase in his right hand to his left, and shakes your hand*
Iâm Mr Parkerson, of Parkerson & Bingley law firm. Your master requested my presence, something about updating his will?
Franklin stares, hesitates, then nods. "Come on in."
He moves out of the way, the movement smooth and practiced, holding the door open. He waits for the man â Parkerson â to walk in, then steps in front of him to lead him upstairs.
"He's not mentioned the appointment, apologies. I'll take you up to the waiting room, then go tell him you're here."
And ask what exactly this is about, though he does not plan on mentioning that.
Hey Franklin, whatâs your favorite kind of tea (to drink or to brew, of they differ)?
I love me a summer Darjeeling. Favourite to brew is infusions 'cause they're easiest, water's just got to be boiling. Proper tea should be just a bit cooler than that, but not too cool, it's a pain in the arse if you ask me
Ok, dude, you didnât have to call me out like that. The other maids are, in fact, supportive too!
(But, dude, what if Venetia figures out I like her? Give me some plausible deniability, please. Solidarity!)
Sorry, sorry. Then again you gave me shit first.
(Well, I know for a fact she doesn't find our... inclinations to be distasteful. Worse case scenario she'll reject you nicely, best case scenario, you get a lover.)
*guy who asked if he was a time traveller* ok, ok, youâre TOTALLY NOT a time traveller, for sure, but do you⊠happen to have a A-1579BX to spare?⊠or a flat, copper disc about 15 cm in radius I could use as a substitute?
What the devil are you talking about? I have no such thing, not that I even know what it could possibly be. A copper disk however... I would need to check with the gardener.
What do the other staff members think of your poetry?
Liz likes it, Thomas thinks it's too crude, a couple people just don't like poetry, most of them like the funny bawdy ones at least.
