Honesty & Accountability
Hi… I mess up a lot. It’s a journey, you know?
I had a metabolic and lipid panel done today. I was nervous. Summer eating has not been the best - lots of eating out, lots of extra treats, lots of vacations (limited options). My results were half good. 😂 My good cholesterol is good. My bad cholesterol is bad. I need to make better choices and I knew it even before the results.
My weight is still about 19ish lbs down from my highest weight. It’s been stagnant since around Easter, and I can only blame myself.
BUT (and that’s a big big but)… I’ve been way more active. I walked a lot on our vacations and I’ve tried to walk several times a week. My activity this year compared to last year is hellaciously better. That feels good to say.
So I’m going to regroup and make a [better] plan. I need to remain focused as we head back to school in a month (although I will be graduating college!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Routines will change and we will all be exhausted. So we need to get in gear now so it’s routine by the time the end of August hits.
Wowzers this summer has flown by so far!
Here are two pictures of the amazingly delicious but totally not diet friendly foods from one of our trips. So so good, but not healthy!
My lunch was pretty too!
My overnight oats are so pretty today!

The path
At the risk of sounding anti-intellectual, I think that college should be free and also not a requirement for employment outside of highly specialized career fields
At the risk of sounding like an effete intellectual, I do actually think you should be allowed to just take college courses indefinitely
technically you can, if you don't care about degrees.
Free Harvard courses. Free Courses from Stanford. Free Courses from MIT. Free courses from Yale. Free courses from Princeton.
Free courses on Coursera.
Free Courses on EDx Free Courses on Alison
For paid, there's The Great Courses+/Wonderium. 20$ a month for unlimited courses.
When searching, the phrases you're looking for are Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), or you can do a general search of say, "free online college courses." Oh, and so you don't get surprised like I did, have an avoid: Hillsdale College is a conservative Christian site and not a valid MOOC place. Sign up with them and you will get things like THIS IS WHY THE LEFT IS TURNING YOUR KIDS TRANS AND GAY in your inbox.
@yourunderwaterskies I wanted to say thank you so much for adding these links, seriously, they've been life-changingly helpful to me-
And I also wanted to mention that humanitarian organisations have free courses too, like the Red Cross on international humanitarian law.

Goals/update
Hi all! I haven’t posted in a while. I’m still here, still trying.
After graduation in a few weeks, I aim to:
1. Lose 23 lbs (in addition to what I’ve already lost)
2. Lose 25 more lbs
3. Exercise a lot more
4. Keep navigating my diet and adjusting as needed
5. Really focus on my mental health with using yoga, stretches, meditation, accupressure, and healing my nervous system
6. Read way more! I have so many books I already own that I look forward to reading!
7. Sit outside more and be more present.
8. Spend more quality time with my husband, son, and cats.
I’m really excited to get started because I’m SO over college. 🫠
be patient with the speed of your journey. you could stress out about it, but that won’t speed it up any. try to accept it as best as you can.
