A Full Moon Ritual (Secular/Non-God-Specific)
This is a little full moon ritual that I wrote, after realizing that all the previous ones in my collection over the years were too wiccan-specific or just not matching the way that I practice anymore. Feel free to adapt it to fit to your needs/limitations/preferences. Enjoy!
You Will Need:
altar space, decorated with lunar symbols of your choice (I opt for silver things, white tealights, and lunar-associated tarot cards)
white candle (I find a taper candle works best)
carving implement, such as a quartz point or knife
lunar-corresponding oils (I use a blend of rose, geranium, and clove oils)
jar or bottle of clean water
a list of all things that you wish to let go of with the waning moon
cauldron or fireproof dish
your favorite beverage (tea, coffee, wine, etc.) as an offering
The Ritual:
1. Gather all of your materials. Do whatever it is that you typically do before ritual (shower, ground and center, cast your circle, or just nothing if thats more your thing). Count your breaths until you feel calm.
2. Take up the white candle and carving implement. Decorate the candle. Carve in lunar symbols, intentions, sigils, or just whatever comes to mind. Have fun with it! This is your personal expression of love for the Moon.
3. Dress the candle with your oil(s) of choice. Light it up.
4. Focus on the flame for a moment as you gather your thoughts. Visualize the pure light of the full moon pouring down on you, purifying you, filling you with light, love, and power. Bask in the feeling for a minute or two.
5. Now, take your jar of water in both hands. Raise it above your head. Imagine some of that pure moonlight radiating down and surging into the water. Place it back down. If you see it fit, take a moment to give the Moon a personal thanks for the loving energy that it gives you.
6. It’s time now to turn to your list of things you wish to let go of with the waning of the moon. Take a moment to read it, and reflect on each item. Why does this thing no longer serve you? What would your life look like without this negative influence? After reflecting, light the paper on fire. Toss it in your cauldron or dish and let it burn as completely as possible. Let those things leave you. Embrace the feeling as some of this weight already begins to lift off your shoulders.
7. Take a deep breath. Turn to your beverage of choice. Say or think a brief dedication, offering some of this beverage to the Moon. Now, drink the beverage and commune with the Moon, peacefully sharing the moment together. Relax all your muscles. When you feel ready, do some breathing and ground yourself back to reality.
8. Close the ritual however you see fit. Release. Relax. Partake in some self-care. Leave the candle (safely!!!) until it burns down completely. Dispose of the ashes, down the drain, down the toilet, tossed outside, however you see fit. Set your moon water and anything else (crystals, etc) you wish to charge outside overnight to absorb the full moon’s energy. Get a good night’s rest and wake up feeling refreshed.
Binding Spell--Emotional Wellness
Supplies
Fireproof dish
Clear Quartz
Rhodonite crystal
Pink Salt
Lavender buds and essential oil
Tea light (can be infused with lavender)
Pink thread
Directions
Place the rhodonite crystal in the dish and cover with the pink salt
Pile lavender buds in the middle of the salt and burn to ash. Mix the ash into the salt clockwise, breathing in the aroma.
Place tea light in the middle of the dish and form a grid.
Recite:
“From the salt, I call upon the earth/From the moon, I call upon the water/From this candle, I call upon the fire/From the smoke, I call upon the air.”
Light the candle
Recite:
With the elements, I bind to myself: _______”
As you tie each knot, name an emotional change you want to make in yourself
Place the string around the candle in the salt and mediate on your intent.
When finished tie the string around your wrist or ankle and dispose of the salt as you see fit.
Considerations
Time your work with the phases of the moons. Because this is binding magic, aim for a waxing or full moon.
Consider using a sigil and burn it over everything after you finish your recitations and before you extinguish the candle.

happy new year 🥳
Welcome to Australia...
Where an already endangered species is on the brink of functional extinction...
Oh, and 500 million animals unique to this country have already lost their lives, upon homes that have been destoryed and lives lost of people as well...
I mean... we're only living in a literal inferno...
415 fires. Fuck are we dying...
Oh yeah and people are just fleeing to the damn ocean, you know?
Do you want to know what Hell on Earth looks like..?
Because there it is in all it's unfiltered, firey rage...
There it is... my home from space...
This is only the beginning. Our country has not only entered a new decade, it seems a new dawning era as well, because this flaming apocalypse doesn't show any sign of stopping any time soon.
And you know what saddens me? I've never seen Australian tragedies trending here on this website. I mean it's been going on for months and only now does it seem to really be getting recognized, even if it is only at #9.
And I'm going to be honest with you here - the internet, and media in general is so American centric, this website being no exception. You'd think that an entire continent being on fire for several months with devastating consequences would have more recognition, but no, it really doesn't. The most notes I've ever seen on a post about the Australian fires is at least a few thousand, and that's about it.
So just... please. If you can, with this post or any other post in regards to the fires going on down here, reblog. Because the only thing that should be spreading like wildfire, is a post about a burning country...
this is so devastating to see and watch
