I saw this picture of mark and I just had to
(Markplier please stop going to the hospital YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOUR BODY IS CAPPABLE OF )
"This book delves into the deep savage darkness of the human soul, and how the inherent evil of humanity is always lurking beneath just a thin veneer of civilisation."
Is it inherently human, or are they just rich british dipshits?
They don't understand.
I pull out illustrated diagram explaining what is inherently human and what is rich british dipshit behaviour.
They laugh and say "it's a good book sir"
Look inside. The characters are all rich british dipshits.
This is why I can't stand Lord of the Flies and people who say it's about human nature. Like, these are British boarding school boys. They are not behaving naturally by any stretch.
Your protagonist's flaw isn't supposed to be charming. If readers find the flaw endearing, it's not actually costing the character anything, which means it's not a flaw, it's a personality quirk wearing a flaw's clothes. A real flaw should make the reader wince a little, should make them go "please don't do that" and then watch the character do it anyway. That wince is the whole point of writing one.
Saw the eridian hating committee by @edenisquiet and finally thought of a joke so I drew this up. I hope the little haters become just as big as the welcoming committee

OMG
Things that I knew about: that the mass incarceration of people in the USA , particularly black men, has direct ties to/is an extension of slavery. Things I did not know: this specific shit about Louisiana HOLY FUCK this is evil.
OH MY GOSH????
When activist Sam Sinyangwe was awaiting a meeting with the governor’s office at the Louisiana state capitol building in Baton Rouge, he not
The 13th Amendment provides a loophole that allows for the legality of unpaid prison labor, which is sometimes called "modern-day slavery."
Grew up next to Angola. It’s much worse than you think
I wonder how many people are imprisoned for weed
I’m from Mississippi and it’s like this in my home town. Enslaved prisoners clean roadways, pick cotton, everything they’ve done since before slavery was supposedly ended. What they teach in schools is nothing but propaganda.
In retrospect, it's hilarious that Stratt made everybody on the vat speak English in deference to Grace being monolingual
Because with how quickly Grace was able to pick up Eridian, even with literally NOTHING about it being familiar the way a human language would be, they probably could have chosen Mandarin as the universal language on Stratt's Vat and he would have just. Learned it.
He's literally doing this:

y'know i used to be on team "whump is kind of a silly word and i wish it was called something different," but these days i think i'm more on the side of "the word 'whump' is a rent-lowering gunshot."
the concept of fictional characters being harmed is a universal storytelling device enjoyed by people outside of the whump community, for sure, but the word "whump" sounding as silly as it does can be a deterrent to people who take themselves maybe a tad too seriously. like almost nobody involves themselves in this community on a whim just because they heard the word "whump" and said to themselves "that sounds very cool and i almost definitely know what it means just from this one instance that i've heard it."
can you take my white ass to funkytown
nope. torture city again

The chicken chain was told to "cluck off" the last time it tried to move into the UK. This time, it hired bigger guns.
me: "have they tried not being fucking ignorant religious bigots?"
article: “I suspect that a bit of the steam has gone out of the LGBT thing,” Backman told the right-wing outlet, staying ahead of the issue. “There may be the odd protester, but if they have got armies of PR people laser-focused on that then I suspect it may be OK.”
me: no surprises there... fuck them
sandwich recipe
We go through a lot of pickles here and this recipe is a good way to use leftover brine.
The thing that pisses me off the most though is the fact I know so many LGBTQ+ individuals that still go there, and they are surprised when I actually don't. It's literally like that tweet.

World Heritage Post
We Do Not Like The Concrete Tomb.
This is our most popular post and we've seen more than one person tag it as "unreality." We understand why one might think that but we assure you: it was not.
These facilities chew you up. They suck the life from you and grind your body to dust to extract every ounce of profit they can.
These places destroy the body, the mind, and the soul.
i have a random issue with a handful of pre-srar fall out boy songs where I LOVE the the start of the song or just generally everything but the chorus, but the chorus itself i find kind of underwhelming (eg: ilalwtwiattgyo, ttotbo, igatrimeanomf, cfmrfrpfmsr, gblogbd(dyptstsasgts)
