Say and believe what you want but the fact that Noah said he is hesitant to play another gay character again and hesitant to be in a big production again is a massive sign of the abuse he suffered under the Duffers, and nobody deserves that.
im pissed

”I don’t like girls” has to be the saddest line in the show actually.
Because a queer boy was forced to come out, not because he wanted to, not because he was ready, not because he was scared of hiding forever, but because he was scared of it being used against him.
Because the line and subsequently the whole scene did a poor job of properly relaying that situation. It made a boy’s reasonable fears seem performative and pandering, which is what the Duffers made it, losing actual human connection to the scene.
It became the funniest most laughed-at scene because of this. So much to where we cannot look at a teen revealing his greatest fear and take it seriously.
I still think it’s funny on occasion, but I watch that line now, and all I can think of is how scared he was. He was genuinely so scared to say it. And people have gotten onto him for acting so scared like WOULDN’T YOU BE? That scene is a joke, but what it tries to display is real, and the reaction people have to it is real also.
