For several days now, the French government has been ordering the systematic slaughter of cattle herds if any of the cows are found to have lumpy skin disease (LSD). This infection is certainly dangerous for cows, but harmless to humans. And there is a vaccine for it. All that is needed is to vaccinate the animals and isolate, treat, or, in the worst case, slaughter THE infected cow. In addition to the financial losses, this is psychological violence being inflicted on this profession. And this is happening in the midst of negotiations to impose Mercosur. Clashes broke out between farmers and the riot police (Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité in French, CRS) who used tear gas.
