im aware mello not being as emotionally volatile as his fanon counterpart would suggest has been already discussed to death but since i just got here (relative to the grand scheme of time stretching back to the very first chapter of death note serialized in december 2003) i still think it's like. matt and rod ross and soichiro are how mello treats people in general. he is casual and cool-headed and places his conversational partner as an equal even when he's annoyed. near on the other hand causes Radioactive Mello Mode and this extends to people close to near e.g. halle (who he is also fairly polite with until it looks like halle might reject his idea of fake-kidnapping her to get to near). but anyway the point of this post is that it makes near calling mello overly emotional so much funnier like no near that's just how he is around you, specifically,
