Day 104: He snapped. But now that I have your attention - Tomorrow I leave quarantine after 104 days to visit my terrific team of transplant doctors. (All good. Just a check-up. Labs. Etc. Thank you so much. Become a donor.) I entered quarantine on the 3rd anniversary of what I’ve come to refer to as my “Death Day”, or when I had to be revived - twice. Morbid, right? Nah, morbid is how they crushed my sternum and ribs to restart my heart. Now on March 10th, I watch the smash horror/comedy/sci-fi movie “Happy Death Day.” I also make cupcakes. It’s fine. I’ve done a lot of reflecting while in quarantine, and had a long, extremely well-written, well-thought out post about my journey and the ups and downs, but I think we’ve got enough on our plates, don’t we? What I will say is today I hit… 1200 days of sobriety. Oh dang. 1200. A lot more to add to that, but for now, I guess I’ll say this… I’ve been through some stuff - so allow yourself to celebrate your victories no matter how big or small. Coming from 6 fractured vertebrae, I treat every step I take like the tiny little sweet ass victory it is. Ask for help. Be accepting of help. Be kind. Be kind to your heart, head, and soul. Be. Kind. You know no one else’s story. Go forward with a forgiving heart. I’m working on mine. Let it go. Black lives matter. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. My LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters - You’re beautiful. You’re stronger than you’ll ever know. Yoga! Wear your fucking mask. Don’t give up. Please, PLEASE, don’t give up. Always be better. And vote.
