Sometimes I feel like people defending Rashta just because it is trending/popular because why people still don't understand why Eckles's writing is problematic, why Layla's victim blaming is wrong and why Mielle's classism deserves the harted and Aria is a victim of one (even if I extremely disklike like Aria)

Think of it like this, people: If the Rashta fanbase continues to infantalize her, strip her of her flaws and remove every ounce of her nuance, then in a weird way, the fanbase will be giving Alphatart the satisfaction by perpetuating the idea that Rashta is a one dimensional bimbo who only got as far as she did because men were lifting her up.

Instead, we should be upset that Rashta's villainess side was either actively stifled by the author or just lazily written in general. What's the point of trying to convince your audience that your main antagonist is a threat if you're too scared of her besting the protagonists? No more random characters that have all but five panels of screentime no one will care about for Rashta to betray and/or kill, I want more characters like Delice! Characters who had build up, ones you could connect to!

I'm not saying I want Rashta to just be a complete monster with no nuance at all, that was literally what I was fighting against for two years 😭, but the girl is no perfect victim and she shouldn't be forced into that box. Perfect victims are Navier, they don't exist irl, and they're misogynistic stereotypes of what a "good woman" should do if she was ever hurt by a man.

Rashta is not a perfect victim, she gets attached to her abusers, she's quick to resort to underhanded measures without thinking of any consequences just to get what she wants, she's more distrustful of women than she really should be, she can get violent as a knee-jerk reaction, and she dodges accountability. While all these traits can make her more frustrating, they are all a significant improvement writing-wise compared to Navier's occasional elegant crying.

I saw this coming a few years ago but wow the switch up is so crazy. Rashta's background as a slave is too complex but a lot of people (I can't even tell if they're just teens or adults who had too much free time) are using it for completely messed up reasons.

Rashta fans, our girl is more than just an innocent victim. She fought back in her own way but that doesn't excuse or justify her actions either. And she's not fighting the hierarchy system like how most of you project her as, she's fighting to live.

The fandom atp is literally a flipped situation of the toxicinity from 2019 but under the notion that you are "pro-slavery" as soon as you speak against it when it's not. Most fans left because of how some Rashta fans are so hellbent at twisting the narrative and making her look like an innocent lamb when she's not.

The men (and Navier ig) had no right to ruin her life, that's true, but that doesn't mean the things she had done are justified either or needs to be. Just like the other characters. She's not a minor nor a child or "dumb." At the end of the day, TRE is a fantasy novel and not history.

The thing is as soon as someone speaks up about it they will get shut down and be called classist. And it's really hard to get past that point because why would someone go beyond to defend fiction over something so historically controversial?

From a pedophile to a misogynist oh the drama 😭 it's very misleading that it keeps being stated that Ergi devalues women when his mother and Alessia is in the picture. And judging by the story he never outright hated Rashta or find satisfaction in hurting her. He never touched her either. He literally said himself that choosing to not help Rashta means he chose to get stuck even deeper to his past, to the person he had become. Lebetti's side is very argumentative but on Evalie, he didn't view her as someone who is less. He is actually grateful that she is helping his mother to heal.

His guilt is swallowing him whole and he's too hesitant to do something about it. His character is about his anger and guilt clashing together and yet people sees this as someone who is sexist.

Ergi's character just had so much potential. And it's not about someone who has become so mentally deranged, Sovieshu's nemesis, a misogynistic pos or a casanova. His character was meant to tie up to the story's main conflict, mistresses. He's meant to be a part of the consequence of Sovieshu's shortcomings and Rashta's parallel. And yet there are only just so many loopholes and inconsistencies in writing him. God forbid he had so many good tidbits of his internal conflicts and potential parallels to Rashta and Sovieshu and I hated that it was never explored properly.

In all seriousness, I'm not taking this as a personal attack against me of course (I don't even know if this is specifically about me lmao) These aspects of Ergi should have been explored properly, if they were then maybe he wouldn't have been such a mess of a character that he was cut out from the K- Drama.

That being said, I do think that two things can be true at the same time. Ergi deserves to be treated as a proper character with consistent writing as a terrible person that is being eaten alive by his guilt and frustration from his unresolved trauma, but he was still implied to have ruined the lives of many women BEFORE he met Rashta even though it was never really expanded on that much.

Some of the most realistic depictions of misogynists aren't announcing to the world how much they hate women or telling women to get back in the kitchen, they're instead scary cases of hurt men harming other women for a multitude of reasons that go beyond old fashioned views on gender norms.

Oh no I understand that you made a headcanon that Ergi is a misogynist lol. What sets me off is that a lot people ultimately believed it and assumed that's what his character is all about when it was more than that.

I'd like to believe the latter that Ergi is a mix of both, considering that he's under the notion of ruining women who are mistresses and are taking advantage of ruining other families for their compensation (judging by how he saw Alessia). He doesn't attack without reason unless it ticks off the qualities he saw in Alessia. With this I understand why people would think he's a misogynist because it feels like his thought process is "oh you're a mistress?? Bad. Bad." but what contradicts it is that he's not fully into ruining them. It's what could have made his character compelling and entertaining to read.

It's just a shame that a lot of people now sees him as Rashta's nemesis when his character is meant to be much more. The amount of hate he suddenly have going on is starting to take me back when I was defending Rashta back in pandemic lol. Yes he's a bad person, but he doesn't only revolve as just that.

Tbh I didn't like McKenna's relationship with Dorsey either despite the love-hate potential (not saying ergi was any better lol). Dorsey was very forceful of their affection towards him and McKenna literally cried himself to sleep upon realising Dorsey was the woman he fell in love with. Details of their relationship escalating was unclear but maybe McKenna actually ended falling in love with both of their sides or just accepted his fate bc Dorsey keeps on chasing him. It left a bad taste for me bc I want McKenna to be an independent man that he is. On the timeskip it feels like he is just pleasing them bc they're a dragon and he can't fight them even if he tried.
