Reading Remarried Empress for the first time and on god all these people are pissing me off.

What do you mean the person we arw supposed to be rooting for is okay with SLAVERY?!

And what do you mean the villain is a run-away slave girl who gets looked down on for that?

It's not headcanon to say Ergi is misogynistic as it's obvious. He is misogynistic pos since he didn't ruin other men except Sovieshu. His main target other than Sovieshu were always women. It's not headcanon when author doesn't try to hide it. It's pretty much canon. He knew women in that era had a better chance at being a mistress than living as peasants but like incels he saw them bad people, gold digging hoes ruining families as if men didn't create that system . Alessia wouldn't even be in his house if not for a misogynistic society and yet he hated her more (she wasn't even a mistress). If it quacks like a duck and sits like a duck it's a duck. Not a cat.

Being hurt that Ergi is considered misogynists is a odd hill to die on.

I was looking through webtoon when I decided to check my comments and I completely forgot about this one person who tried to justify Rashta being stabbed.

I was talking about how sure spreading rumors is bad but Navier is just okay with a attempted murder? And someone replied "well attempted murder is bad but it was the mistress so"

That doesn't make it okay?????

Y’know what? I really empathise with Rashta. She was a literal slave who saw an out of a hopeless situation and ran with it. People who don’t like her for being a home wrecker honestly have no morality. SHE WAS A SLAVE. FOR A CRIME SHE DIDNT COMMIT AS WELL. IT WAS HER DAMN DAD. And every single person in her life was using her, she really had no one to rely on.

I know quite a few people share this opinion, and then some of turn around and hate on Navier for not abolishing slavery. Like? That’s so stupid.

She was a childless empress who had been on the throne for three years. What time frame are you giving her to abolish slavery? It’s just not going to happen because she needs to secure her position with a child while also managing government affairs and creating allies.

It wasn’t like she was hateful towards Rashta either, she understood to a certain extent of her position and always tried to help.

People always blame Rashta and Navier for each other’s positions when neither were at fault.

And if I remember correctly, Navier abolished slavery later on in the novel. (Idk if that’s true, I read a machine translated version in like 2021, I could be misremembering). And I’m fairly certain it happen.

If you want someone to blame I nominate Sovieshu, the actual emperor and person with most power. Who, despite having a loving, powerful wife chose to bring an uneducated slave as a concubine because he was insecure.

Rashta did what she had to do to survive, and I’ll never blame her for that. Navier also had every right to be upset with her cheating husband, idc if it was a norm back then.

Remarried empress rambles #4: Ergi is a sexist.

Pretty much all the characters in my rewrite have their own varied flawed traits ranging from mild to despicable. Sometimes they will grow for the better after acknowledging what makes them flawed as human beings from their beliefs to the judgements they make of other people's character without realizing it.

Sometimes the only reason they "change" at all is because the circumstances of their surroundings forced them to adapt whenever they wanted to or not. Think of the many slave masters of post-civil war America, just because they were eventually forced to release the people enslaved on their plantations doesn't mean they all of a sudden stopped being racists. Some characters just change for the better due to society forcing their hands.

And then you have the case of characters who feel no need to better as people or even do as little as pretend to have grown. That is the kind of character Ergi represents.

He knew what it looked like for a woman to lose everything after witnessing his mother's descent into disgrace after Alessia replaced her, he knew what it was like to live with a pathological liar who played the role of his mother like some kind of skin walker, his mother adored her son and it was all for naught in the end. It's not that Ergi is completely incapable of feeling empathy, he can learn if he chooses to, he just doesn't see women as worthy enough to grow for.

Because why should he? Almost all women are all the same in the end. Vapid, shallow, materialistic, and catty liars who are always looking to tear themselves apart for their own selfish desires, every woman secretly has a little piece of Alessia within her in Ergi's eyes, with the exception of two women.

And Navier.

Ergi sees Alessia the most in Eva, this girl (at least according to him) has a loving family waiting for her back home and she'd rather stay married to a stranger so she can continue calling herself a duchess. Eva wants to cover her neck and fingers with emeralds and diamonds, she wants to establish friendships with all kinds of nobles from faraway lands, she actively distances herself from her commoner origins, acting as if she were always born noble.

And that makes Ergi sick to his stomach, but he won't divorce her and throw her back into the wild, oh no, no, no, that's too easy for her. Ergi will let her keep the privilege as his wife, he will even try to guide her to stay alive in a society that wants her to keel over dead for her original social class and her race, when she decides to make more rash decisions for "attention" as he perceives it, its not like he'll be at fault when he technically "helped her"
