life update: I'm a ✨perfect celebrity✨
in all seriousness, hello all. Did we all love Mayhem? I haven't been on tumblr in a very long time, it feels kinda weird. Tumblr used to be a huge part of my life in its heyday, early 2010s, as it did for lots of people.
well, here's goes a loooong post...
I'm thankful for all of the folks I got to meet, from the long gone friends and the lifelong friends. So many different stories. Ive seen so many hilarious posts, some that still live in my head rent free. i have tumblr to thank for giving me a space to express my love of art and movies. being a queer asian kid trapped in the "troubled teen industry," fandom was one of the few places I felt peaceful and connected with others. That's probably why I got my homestuck tattoo.
I'm almost 30 now, and it's insane how much life has changed. I've been taking care of my mental health, working on my career in the movie biz, and advocating for justice in internet crimes against children. I never really wanted to talk about it much before, but I survived some pretty rough stuff before I was old enough to even vote. Predatory older men, grooming, assault, untimely death in the family, severe bullying, mental hospitals, phony "cures" to teen angst and undiagnosed neurodivergence.
I look back on my life so far with a weird feeling of awe. The kind that's almost funny because well, what a crazy story. A crazy ass story SO FAR, that is. And if all goes as planned, I've got a long way to go, and I intend to keep it that way. Oh tumblr, how you've electro-shocked my non-ordinary life.
With that, I must make like an airline and announce my departure. I don't really have much of a presence here, anyway, but... I want to leave tumblr to the new generation of nerds. The weirdo kids, silly geeks, queer youth, and neurodiverse goblins who are the future of this world. I have so much endless hope in these kiddos, and they deserve a space to dork out.. I look forward to the day I can tell the story of my life to my own. :')
I want to leave my blog up because in a way, it's part of history. It might be a drop in the ocean, or whatever, but my religious beliefs provide me with special faith- that we are all individual moving parts of a greater whole. Emergence!
If anyone anywhere ever reads this- thank you for reading. Humanity is beautiful. Humanity is resilient. Humanity is absurd. Humanity is the part of my soul that reminds me to say a bunch of silly heartfelt things at the end of tumblr posts. We contribute to the studies of time... time to continue solar spinning like a celestial dervish. Obviously.
