intro/headcanons.
Danny wanted to be an astronaut as a kid, and while that career path never really worked out for him heâs still obsessed with space and all things about it. He loves planetariums and gets twitter notifications from NASAâs twitter account. Heâs also secretly into astrology and checks his horoscope religiously because of course the universe has something in store for him, heâd like to be prepared for it. Heâs a huge nerd.Â
Being bullied his entire life has definitely killed his perception of himself. While he might be told now heâs attractive and the brooding mysterious thing is kindaâ cool, he doesnât ever see himself as more than the nerd who was getting shoved into his locker. It makes it hard to start conversations with new people, and heâs constantly over thinking every single thing he says and does because peopleâs opinion of him matters that much.
But when heâs comfortable with someone heâs a little bold and witty. He thinks witty means heâs always funny, but heâs not.Â
Heâs still embarrassed by his parents, mainly his dad. He loves and respects them so much, but they can be a little clueless and his dad never learned how to read the room. So yeah, they still stress him out.Â
Not really adjusting well to having to be an adult and take care of himself. He forgets things all the time; like to buy groceries so he has food to cook at home, or the due date for his bills. He spends most of his money on take out and itâs kind of a problem. Even when he does remember groceries he just doesnât have the energy or the desire to cook. Heâs started putting little alarms and reminders on his phone so he can just be better at all of the responsibilities, but heâs not really optimistic this will work out well for him.Â
He hates Ghostbusters. His parents were ghost hunters and he has ghost powers, please just...he hates it ok. Move.Â
He is not a morning person. In college he tried his best to arrange his schedule so he could take afternoon classes because waking up at like six for an eight am class was just not something he wanted for himself. Even now he doesnât do well with the mornings.Â
Heâs allergic to going to bed before one in the morning, which definitely contributes to why he doesnât do well with early mornings. Danny is well aware that he could solve a lot of his problems if he just shut up and went to bed at a reasonable hour, but he just canât. Especially if thereâs something fun going on around the island. If thereâs a party or people he likes are hanging out late heâs got to be a part of it. He has serious FOMO and itâs one of those ugly things from high school coming back to bite him in the butt. He was never included in the fun stuff, so now he canât cope with the idea of maybe missing it.Â
His sleep schedule is honestly such a nightmare. Heâs either running on four hours of sleep or he slept for fourteen hours. Thereâs no in between.Â
The ghost powers scared the shit out of him when he first got them. He was at work, going to grab a cup of coffee and the pot of coffee just...passed right through him. He didnât even realize it happened at first, a coworker had to point out to him that he dropped the pot and the coffee was spilling all over the floor. Danny thought that was weird because he was positive heâd grabbed it, but he just chalked it up to being half asleep and not really paying attention to what he was doing. It kept happening that week, he sleepily walked right through closed doors and at one point while talking to his parents on the phone he realized he was completely invisible.Â
He spent hours on the internet trying to figure out what the hell was going on with him. He didnât get very far in figuring it out and heâs frustrated that heâs basically stuck with no real answers or guidance. Heâs aware he can call his parents for help, theyâre literally scientists this is their thing, right? But heâs terrified that they wonât handle the information well, or worse theyâll just spend their time trying to destroy him because heâs seen that their fear of the paranormal outweighs their rationality sometimes. So he kind of just skulks around town looking for more information. Heâs open to talking to anyone about it, but the conversation will be based around a lot of hypothetical friends with hypothetical powers before he can decide if he trusts the person enough to be honest.Â
It took him three months to realize that his powers are primarily emotion based. When heâs embarrassed or anxious he goes intangible or invisible, when heâs angry he can shoot ecto blasts. It was initially all very confusing (and terrifying) for him, but heâs learned how to better control his feelings because of it. He tries to keep his thoughts and whims in check to the best of his ability but he canât really help the fact that heâs a ball of nerves and self doubt. But he knows heâs gotta figure this out soon because his powers could potentially hurt someone if heâs not handling it correctly.Â
