“is that a promise?” she asks, amusement and excitement clear in her tone as she laid in her tour bus bunk with her phone resting beside her on the pillow, the speaker playing their conversation loud enough for any of her sisters passing by to hear. but clio didn’t care. “because i’m sure the fans would love a tell-all book when this is done.” not that anything super exciting has really happened to the boy band yet - besides the leaking of jello - but even still, clio was sure they could exaggerate some things to make a bit of drama. “and what are you going to say about me? i expect at least three mentions of my name.” @ssparkypants

“then call the front desk,” she answers, only having been partially listening to her sister as she scrolled through her phone. after the month long break that she’d taken off of social media back at the end of november and the beginning of december, clio was now fully in the swing of keeping up to date with everything going on with both her official accounts and her fan ones. so it takes a moment for mel’s words to really sink in and when they do she pauses, finally looking up from her screen over towards the older muse girl. “wait - was that your way of saying you wanted to like... talk about something?” @mel-ancholymuse

“ why don’t they ever make a movie about what happens after the big kiss? “ (teri)

“because who the fuck wants to watch that? why would i want to watch a movie about relationships crumbling apart when i can just... live it instead?” she answers, glaring at the screen as if the movie they were currently watching had personally offended her despite the fact that it was one with a happy ending. which honestly, at the moment, pissed clio off just as much as the ones about the couples breaking up. “can we watch an action one next or something else?”  @terithemuse

meg wasn’t a fashion expert by any means. she dressed the way she liked and kept it that way. but when clio or any of the other muses asked for her to pick between dresses, she wasn’t going to ever tell any of them know. she was observant enough to know what looked good on her friends and she missed them, so any time facetiming them was a win in her eyes. she sipped at her beer before placing it back on her kitchen counter. “gold baby. i am always going to tell you that gold looks so good on you.”

as she herself looked over all the outfits, clio had to admit that meg had a point. she did look fucking gorgeous in gold. originally she had been leaning towards the black dress, a classic and always a good option, but now that she thought about it maybe going with something so safe wasn’t the best move. not when this is her first time truly getting back out. she wanted to make a statement. a giant fuck you danny fenton moment that showed just how much she was over it. and the gold would be perfect. “you’re right,” she agrees, turning the phone camera back around to be facing herself. “see this is why you should have come along with us. i would have looked boring as fuck tonight without you.”

the sound of the facetime call ringing could barely even be heard over the blasting music playing from the tv of the hotel room as clio continued to laugh along as she sang, despite the fact that he’d yet to even answer. it was too infectious of a song to not be singing along and her own amusement was far too high for her to care how ridiculous she must look. and suddenly when skip’s face filled the screen, clio let out a squeal and raised her voice for the next line. “YOU GOT THAT KICK LIKE CAJUN,” she sang, jumping up and down as she did so before letting out a loud laugh and moving to turn off the music. “sorry, sorry. i couldn’t resist.” her apology probably doesn’t seem too genuine, considering it was said around another set of giggles. @ssparkypants​

holding her phone up to the three outfits set out on the bed, clio slowly panned over each one before flipping the camera back to be front facing and raising an eyebrow at the woman on the other end of the line. “so which one?” she asked, already having a favorite in mind but wanting meg’s opinion otherwise. “keep in mind it’s for a little mini photoshoot and clubbing tonight.” something she hadn’t actually done in awhile - too caught up in moping in her feelings and then over the break she and teri had never felt quite up to going properly out in the city. but after her days spent with eris over the holidays, clio was feeling ready to get back out there. even if just for one night. @noturnutmeg​

the awkward tension hanging around them is insufferable. and he can fault no one but himself. they’d been here for ages, cruising down a dead end street and ignoring every sign that begged they turn back before it was too late. but they’d been so foolish, so desperate for a connection that they were willing to force it just to avoid being alone. “think she said something about calling my uncle vlad later,” he grimaces, unable to hide the scowl that touches his face at the mention of his father’s best friend. “but i can hang for a bit if you wanted.” in reality, he’s not sure what he wants to avoid more right now – clio or calling his weird uncle. that, perhaps, is another one of those signs he needs to stop ignoring. “did…i pull you away from your family time?” the mention of teri spending time with the others without clio immediately makes him frown, feeling like a punch to the gut as he realizes how shitty this is. had she skipped on time with her sisters just to spend her day with a man who was going to end things before the night ended? he hopes the answer is no – but given the unusual silence that he’s never known to surround any place the muses are occupying, he’s pretty sure he knows the answer. 

a small hum as she scrunches up her nose in annoyance on his behave for having to do that. though it turns to a bit of confusion as danny asks if she wants him to hang around for a bit - like it hasn’t been nearly two weeks since they’d last seen each other. the answer should be obvious that of course clio wants to continue talking and being with him - but honestly... if he’s going to continue acting as strange as he was, she wasn’t sure if that was actually the case. but her sisters would be gone for at least another half hour and being with danny, like always, was better than being alone so she nods and turns around to unlock the door to the room she was sharing with teri. “we literally live in a tour bus right now, every day is family time. they’ll survive spending one afternoon without me.” as she enters the hotel room, she holds the door open for him to follow behind.

Planning to spend the entire evening in the hotel room there’s absolutely no reason to get all dressed up, but neither one of them has ever been able to resist the opportunity of a good photoshoot. “Okay yeah that’s true,’ Teri agrees with an eager nod, throwing the purple option over her shoulder as she focuses on the black dress Clio selected. “Did you see some of the pictures on instagram? Those dresses are so boring.” And in some cases just plain ugly, whoever helped them pick out those dresses clearly not doing their friends any favours. That feels a little too mean to point out though (not everyone has the luxury of a designer sister like they do), so she keeps her mouth shut as she changes, changing out the sweats she was wearing for the little black dress. “What are you wearing again?”

Satisfied with her sister’s outfit choice, Clio turned back to her reflection to continue working on her makeup. “Penny and Meg looked good. I haven’t gone searching for anyone else yet,” she answered, honestly. Though she didn’t doubt that plenty of the dresses the other girls back on the island were indeed boring - or potentially even hideous. “Gigi and Rosie aren’t going and I don’t really follow anyone else from back home.” So it’d take a bit of digging to find all the other outfits of the night - something she’d do later on once they had posted their own photos and got tucked back into bed for the night. “Also black. The one with the top cut around my tits. It’s hanging on the bathroom door.”

this moment feels like it’s lasted an eternity. he couldn’t be convinced they hadn’t been here before, exchanging tense conversation and forcing dialogue in an effort to avoid confronting the issue at hand. danny had worked up a speech once before, words rushed and angry as he failed to wrap his head around dating someone who’d openly have a problem with how much time he spent with gogo. and right before he’d worked up the courage to end things he’d caved, realizing then their weeks of fighting had been stupid. he should have done it then. he was an idiot to not have seen it all those months ago. and now, as he tries to find a reason worth staying, all he can think of is all the reasons he shouldn’t – the main reason a pill he refused to swallow right now; he was in love with gogo. and maybe danny should have come to terms with that ages ago, should have taken note of how he refused to back down on friday nights, the thought of losing just one day with gogo meaning more to him than losing clio altogether. maybe he owed clio an apology. as he walks with her, brain barely registering a single thing she says to him, he knows he owes her an apology. “that’s exciting.” he nods, though if she asked him to repeat what she just said he wouldn’t have a single thing to offer her other than the last few words of her statement. “tomorrow morning. my mom insisted i stay a few days, says she misses us.” he shrugs, realizing even to his own ears that she probably doesn’t really care. she shouldn’t care. once they reach the door to her hotel room danny hangs back, hands shoved in the back pocket of his jeans. “is…is teri around? or, she out with the others?” he really hopes teri isn’t around, not because he has anything against seeing the youngest muse sister, but because he doesn’t want to have to have this conversation with any of her family around. and he doesn’t want to hold onto this for any longer, waiting, he’s realizing is how they ended up here in the first place.

it is exciting, but the way danny says it makes it obvious he doesn’t really think so. just another clear sign that something is wrong. and clio’s getting close to snapping and just asking what’s  fucking wrong - not caring if they have a fight right before separating if it just means he’ll stop acting like this. but she holds off, keeping it in for even just another few minutes in hopes that maybe he’ll get his shit together and things can go back to normal. “is she expecting you back any time soon?” she asks, though at this point she’s not even sure if she wants to spend more time with him right now, not with the way he’s currently behaving. but he came all the way out here and she did miss him so clio also isn’t in any rush to send him away. it was conflicting - much like so many things in their relationship. “no, she’s hanging out with some of the girls for a little while. we’re free.”

“Okay I need your opinion.” Holding out two dresses for Clio to inspect, she watches her sister closely as she awaits her thoughts. “Which one of these says I don’t need to be at the masquerade party because I’m young and hot and in New York for new years?” She doesn’t regret her decision to stay in New York with Clio rather than going home with the rest of the girls, but as she watches post after post pop up on Instagram of her friends getting ready for the party, she finds herself missing it. Or at the very least, she misses getting to show off how cute she is.  Getting dressed up with Clio for the sole purpose of posting photos online is the next best thing, and while she didn’t come on tour prepared for this, she managed to find a couple cute outfits that might work. // @officialcliomuse​

Pausing in her application of her eye makeup, Clio looks at her sister first just through the reflection of the mirror, but when that doesn’t give a good enough image she turns to give Teri her full attention. It’s not something she does so easily usually, but this whole trip has made her far more appreciative of her younger sister - the person who had willingly stayed behind so that she didn’t have to be alone for the holidays. So if Teri wanted her genuine opinion on their fake little New Years Eve outfits, the least Clio could do was take it seriously. “The black one,” she decides after a few seconds of looking them both over. “It really emphasizes the young and hot in New York part. Especially when it’s in the line-up of all the stuffy gowns everyone’s wearing back home.”

now normally clio didn’t hate the holidays. she never got as into them as mel did, but she was far from a grinch herself. but this year? a few months after being dumped in potentially one of the most humiliating ways possible? yeah she wanted nothing to do with the holidays this go around. at least not in the way she normally did. all clio really wanted to do was crawl back into bed and just wait for it to all be over. which was a bit dramatic, considering any pain she’d felt at the breakup with danny was long gone - but the anger and embarrassment still held strong. “fuck the holidays,” she agreed bitterly, kicking her foot against the edge of the stage from where the two were sitting during a break in rehearsals for the la show. “are you heading back after this? to corona?” @ssparkypants

that may be true, but clio had already gone through the effort of making two hot chocolates for them and wasn’t about to let it go to waste just because her sister was in a mood. which, to be fair, was the entire reason that she had done this in the first place - in hopes of lifting mel’s spirit even just the tiniest bit. while a part of clio had originally been a little annoyed at her older sister for potentially screwing up her relationship with hans and not realizing how goddamn lucky she was to have someone as devoted to her as him - that had all faded once she saw how truly upset the older muse girl was over all of this. so like what any half-decent sister would do, she shifted into comfort mode. which... for clio wasn’t the easiest thing to do - but she was trying at least. a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream was a start. though her words in response to mel’s refusal weren’t exactly the most reassuring. “too bad. i went to a grocery store for this, you’re gonna drink it.” and with that she held out the cup once more, waiting for her to take it. there’s a moment of hesitation before clio speaks again - unsure whether she should draw attention to the obvious or just pretend like everything was okay. “do you want to talk?” she finally settles on asking, leaving the choice in mel’s hands. @mel-ancholymuse

“you know we don’t actually have to get the girls souvenirs, right?” she asks once again, feeling like it’s a question she’s thrown out there multiple times during their trip out of the hotel today. not that clio didn’t necessarily want to get her sisters a gift from this trip - but it just seemed kind of ridiculous. especially considering they were too broke to actually buy anything nice. plus she had already got them all (or well, most of them) christmas presents - why did they need another gift specifically from new york? “we were all literally here like a month ago. they remember what it looks like.”  @terithemuse

clio’s words are certain and quick, as if she’s decided this long before rosie brought it up just now. and knowing what she knows about her best friend and her less than stellar relationship, rosie is hardly surprised. clio reacts poorly to the smallest infractions, she knows dating a man who consistently chooses another woman over her is grounds for murder in clio’s eyes. “most poison related deaths are actually pretty gruesome,” rosie shrugs. “you convulse, you vomit blood, you suffocate. it’s pretty fucked up.” if she were saying this to anyone else she’d feel the need to add in a small detail about how she’d read that in a book, as opposed to extensive research on the subject. but it’s clio, one of the few people who know just how intrigued rosie is by morbid subjects. “but, what is your preferred method of death for him? just in case.”

There’s a moment’s pause as Clio considered those words - picturing her boyfriend going through all those symptoms and wondering if that would truly be enough. Maybe if they had been having this conversation a year ago, when she’d found out Gaston had been cheating on her, she’d think that poisoning could be a decent way to kill him - but with Danny… with Danny it needed to be worse. More intense, far more painful. Because not only would it have been the second time she’d been cheated on in a row, but his running off to Gogo the moment she left for tour would be far more humiliating than what happened with Gaston. Because at least with him, there had been multiple women and no concrete proof that showed he was into someone else. But with Danny - the warning signs had been there since the day they started dating. The fact that he might feel more than just friendship for his supposed best friend had been obvious and Clio had just… accepted it. So if it turned out to be true, well, that wouldn’t end well for him. “Maybe,” she finally settled on, not fully taking the option of poisoning on the table quite yet. “Oh I want him fucking murdered. Stabbed and cut up in a million pieces then fed to Roxie and Leo. Or maybe you could feed him to them alive - that’d be good too.”

For the most part Skip has been keeping all his frustrations about the band pent up, never quite feeling like he has someone that would understand and actually want to listen. Something about Clio feels different, though, and he finds himself starting to open up without much hesitation. “Yep that just about sums it up,” he nods in confirmation as Clio tries to put together the extremely confusing pieces of the band. “But somehow the fans already love him.” There’s no hiding the hint of bitterness in his tone as he reluctantly admits that baffling piece of information. Though they haven’t done much of anything as a band yet, the fact that Chip Skylark, Skip Sparkypants, and 15 cent were in a boy band already caught plenty of attention, and somehow Phil seems to be coming out on top. It’s not that he has anything against Phil, he really doesn’t, but he’ll never be able to understand how the fans are already on board with someone that can’t even seem to learn some simple choreography when there are actual popstars in the mix. “You know, he would probably believe it,” Skip says with a laugh, thinking of the way Phil would probably pack up all his stuff and move out without so much as a question, never returning to the studio again. And if he wasn’t best friend with Chip, it would probably be a decent idea. “I’d have to deal with hell from Chip when he found out though.” The two are ridiculously close, so much so that Skip isn’t entirely sure that the fans that have started shipping them are entirely off base. He’s believe it. “Kill him, huh?” Skip chuckles at the suggestion, not at all entertaining it, but still amused by the idea none the les. “What method do you think I should go with?”

Hearing Skip admit that Phil is somehow the fan favorite so far of the group isn’t a surprise to Clio - in fact she’s already well aware that he somehow managed to work his way into so many hearts of people across the entire world. She’d seen him interact with fans on her second twitter account, had seen the way people already stanned him for just the simplest things. But well… she had just assumed there must have been something he actually contributed to the band to warrant that. But now seeing him during this first rehearsal she realized that was far from true. “He’s a decently attractive white man. That’s all it takes,” she reminds him, a bit of bitterness in her voice as she watches the boy in question continue to lie on the floor and likely complain to her older sister standing above him. Turning away and back to Skip, she suddenly decides she won’t just accept that fucking weirdo being the one to come out on top above the rest of the group. Or well… at least not above Skip. She doesn’t really care if he’s more popular than Gene, who also seems just as strange, or the other boys. “You need to interact with the fans more. That also probably plays a part in it. He’s on twitter talking with them almost every night.” It’s not the best PR advice and she knows that, but Clio knows it is probably part of what plays a big factor in how Phil managed to gain so many stans so quickly. When Skip shuts down the idea of just telling Phil he’s out of the band, she simply lets out a hum. It makes sense, his reasoning for not wanting to do that, but dealing with Chip’s anger still sounds better than having to be in a band with someone as incompetent as the Deville boy. “Oh stab him a few times. That’s always the best way to go about it. Though I’ve been told that poisoning could be a good option too. And then you just blame it on a bug he ate or something.” A small smirk grows on her face, one that she hopes makes it seem like she’s just joking. Even though she absolutely isn’t. “I know people if you need help with it.”
