Another twist of her lips, for him to be so dreaded at the idea of having another Morrigan, the must truly not get along. She hadn’t lost her sense of heartbreak at the loss of her family, but somehow Octavian made the weight feel a little lighter with each quip. “Perhaps… you could tell me more about him… them. The Grey Wardens. Once you’re ready to talk, of course.” Elvira had spent most of her time with this new group shrouding her past in black so that no one would know she was a Teryna. Something in her fought to tell Octavian everything just so that she could talk to someone, to feel better about the weight of her entire family’s death. Another voice, the voice that kept her alive spoke up, causing her to go silent instead.
“I do not know Mathias well enough to say that it is no fault of his own… but I do believe he does not understand the weight of the loss as we do. The wounds are still fresh for us and to him, it does not seem he understands what it means to have a brother or a father figure. “ Her hands wrung themselves together for a small time, she was trying to find more to say, but was having a hard time. “Should you need to talk, I will always be available. Do not hesitate to ask. I wouldn’t want to see you end up a traveling bard — drunk, wandering and with no money to your name due to an inability to not only sing, but to chose a better profession. “ Elvira began to step backwards from Octavian, another smile curling at her lips.
An odd feeling filled Octavian at her words, he nodded before considering that she may have a hard time seeing his expression, “Yeah.” His eyes fell, his thoughts connecting to all the items he had spent with the Grey Wardens feeling like he had found something akin to family among them. He didn’t know why, but he had a feeling even if he never brought another subject up with Elvira, she would come to him and ask about it anyways.
How Elvira had been able to figure that out about Mathias in such a short time frame was impressive. He was just starting to understand that about the man now and they had known each other for a couple of weeks longer. It didn’t bother him that Mathias was the way he was, mostly because he knew he had someone else he could talk to that was Leliana or Morrigan. Sure Elvira wasn’t another man, but she was much nicer than their other companions and pleasantly missing all the crazy. He bit his lip, trying to remember that he shouldn’t be laughing considering what had just happened. “If I ever come close to becoming a traveling minstrel, you shall be the first to know... again, thank you. Sleep well.”
