Except it is fictional. Art and fiction are frequently encouraged by therapists to help victims cope with their trauma.

No, because their coping isn’t dirty or disgusting. The fact that they are coping is not something that should be treated as if it is a skeleton in the closet or a disgusting secret. Allowing them to openly cope helps them build a supportive community of both survivors and non-survivors.
Non-survivors are as important to the recovery of survivors as other survivors are. Support networks and encouragement are a thing. Someone doesn’t have to be a survivor in order to support someone.
“My fiance/friend/someone important/close to me told me that it is harmful so therefore it is.”
False. It may be harmful to them but they are not other people. They do not speak for everyone. What is harmful to them may not be harmful to someone else. Their triggers are not someone else’s triggers.
“But this can be triggering for–”
This is why tagging and trigger warnings exist. So people can avoid them. If someone is triggering, avoid it. If someone didn’t properly tag it, just let them know in a way that isn’t telling them that they’re a bad and horrible person that doesn’t care about survivors because of a human error or simply not knowing.
“My therapist told me that it is harmful to me and therefore I shouldn’t surround myself with them and if they’re harmful to me then–”
It is harmful… to you. Something being a setback in your path to recovery is not the same as it being a setback in someone else’s path to recovery. Your path to recovery is not mine, my path to recovery is not someone else’s, and someone else’s path to recovery is not yours. Everyone is different and there is no universal path to recovery. If playing games is harmful to someone’s ability to cope, then they shouldn’t play games. However, if playing games is helpful to someone else’s ability to cope then they should play games. Person A has different needs than Person B and person B has different needs from Person C. Just because it is harmful to person A doesn’t mean it will harm person B or C.
Then either block/blacklist the tags and encourage people to tag it so you can block/blacklist it or fuck off.
