GATTACA (1997)

the first entry in my graphic design movie poster project. the intent was to rely more on typography and graphic elements rather than photography and collage. this features a shortened version of the quote “we’ve got discrimination down to a science”, which I feel captures the premise of the film. the two overlapping sinusoidal paths mimic a DNA helix while the alternating outward extending lines mimic the iconic staircase in eugene’s apartment.

Interstellar (2014)

the last film for my movie project is interstellar. i’ll admit this was a tough one. i chose the dylan thomas poem as it was repeated many, many times in the film. the text is being pulled into the black hole, like matthew mcconaughey’s character was in the film. this design has elements of symmetry, centered around a logo-esque mark i made for interstellar. overall this project was very fun and and a good lesson in simplicity.
