Stormie is being a tease during his rut by trying to hide and misdirect him, knowing full well she can't run even if she had perfect legs. It was just a matter of time before she's found though. Even so, she knows the boys like to hunt and chase.
*he decides to play the game of cat and mouse, laughing as he does so. He is letting her get a head start, waiting for the chance to strike*
The circus is a big place with a big crowd. If she was going to stand a chance, she needed to blend in. Felt like that would be easy given that she was painfully average, at least according to herself. So when she found a group of lookalikes, she thought she was set. At that point it was just a matter of keeping calm and ignoring any bait Harlequin might decide to use.
Stormie comes back later with strawberry muffins and a black coffee.
"Happy Birthday. Figured this would be more up your alley than a cake. I, um, also thought about playing you a song, if you want. I know I owe you some lessons, but you deserve a day to just chill after everything."
“Thank you.. and yes.. I would like to hear a song.”
She takes a seat at his piano, no music sheets present. There was one song she had in mind that she was certain would please him.
"This is called Aria of the Soul by Shoji Meguro. I hope you like it as much as I imagine you would."
Just like with everything, she poured her heart into it. Even when playing from memory, no notes were missed. At least, no mistakes were made that she couldn't play off as intentional improvisation. And if one paid really close attention, they could hear her humming along with the song.
Once the song came to a close, she turned to Ticket Taker with a curious look, "So... what did you think? Was I right?"
"Do you ever like to watch the moon and stars?" - Stormie
I do. Stargazing is what I enjoy when I need a moment away from my duties.
"Then I take it you wouldn't be against a picnic to view the Strawberry Full Moon for my birthday in a few days? I was gonna bake some creampuffs - and blood pudding mostly for Doc- with Pierrot."
"I was checking the calendar this month and apparently we're in the right place to view the Strawberry Full Moon just before my birthday. I'd like to spend the evening with you if, y'know, you're not busy performing that night."
Oh of course my love! Im more than happy to spend time with you, and that sounds lovely
"Great! Oh but what if we made it a picnic with the others included? We could make strawberry cream puffs! And I could make my blood pudding for those that don't care for sweets. We got plenty of pigs' blood, right? I think after all the craziness, we deserve a little break to actually relax."

I love this insane bug girl, started working on a lil sprite sheet for her. I'll be honest, the side profiles give me the most struggle, but I think it turned out pretty good!
*he hummed as he listened to her tale then snapped his fingers, the fools refilling both of their glasses* I see. You poor little thing... And yet you compared me to that creature. I did not harm him.. He harmed me. Ah, do not take this as me passing the blame solely on him as we both were fault. By... Your father? Disgusting. *He takes a long sip of his wine*
"But you did harm him," she snarled out, anger rising enough to choke her. Perhaps this is what she gets for taking the first chance to finally tell someone about the moment that sparked her interest in law and psychology.
"You harmed him the moment you took that girl's life no matter how you try to justify it. Don't go denyin' how painful it is to lose a loved one, and I won't sit here and listen to you belittle that kind of pain. His pain that he will have to carry for the rest of his life. Just like I do with Taeyla! Unless you mean to tell me a mate is something to be thrown away and forgotten the moment it becomes inconvenient."
watch your tongue, girl... *He growls softly* that is not what I meant. *He sighs then face palms* and here I thought we were getting somewhere. Perhaps I am mistaken. Hate me if you want. It makes no difference to me.
"There's only one man I truly hate, and it ain't you and I'm pretty sure you're nothing like him. I just don't want Harlequin's pain completely dismissed, that's what it sounded like. People tend to forget that emotional harm is still harm. How am I supposed to know that's not what you mean if you don't say what you mean? It's all guesswork at that point," she takes a deep breath.
"If I hated you, I wouldn't speak to you at all because I'd think it pointless. At least I'm not lying to end the conversation quicker. You might be the first person that I've actually talked to about a fraction of that whole event. Take that as you will."
This time for pixel art practice, I tried making Alastor. How'd I do?
Stormie is wordlessly crawling into Harlequin's bed, and is going to hold him tightly. "... How are you feeling?"
Hello babygirl. *He smiles as he pulls her into his arms, purring* I'm... Managing. The ache is still there just a little less.

*he hums in response, finishing his glass the next second.* You spoke of your father. Comparing me to one such human... Was he really that cruel to you?
"Wow, gettin' into the meat of it already, huh? Well... I suppose I could tell you after everything."
"Cruel to me? No, at least not at first. It's a lil embarrassin', but I used to revere him before I realized what kind of person he was. It wasn't until... Until I met my first love, that I slowly pieced things together. I don't know if I realized sooner that she would still be..." a long pause is left to take a large gulp of wine from her glass.
"She was the daughter of a witch but not like the ones I was taught to hate. Every adult in that town had somethin' to say about 'em, 'cept my mom, but had never once really spoken to them. Our love was forbidden, you see, so we kept it secret when we decided to date. Managed to keep it going for at least a year. I still have her anniversary gift she left me, but I digress."
"One night, when I was 14, I was heading out to meet with her at our usual spot, a lil meadow between her house and mine, and I found my father still up talking on the phone. I overheard him talking about how everything was ready to turn my love's home into a town bonfire... with the whole family inside it. I was horrified. As soon as he left, I tried calling her mom to warn them, but... he caught me before I could punch the last number.
"I never seen or heard him that angry as he dragged me to the basement and threw me down the stairs with the words "you'll thank me for this later". That fall broke my legs, really knocked the wind out of me. I had to crawl up those stairs in the hope that I could still somehow save them. But I was trapped, and no amount of cryin' and beggin' for anyone to hear was gonna change that. My mom apparently found me and screamed the next morning and rushed me to the hospital."
"But that still pales in comparison to what he did to my girlfriend. Three people were found dead, her mom and two kids, hardly identifiable accordin' to the paper. And the whole damn town buried the truth and blamed it on the father who escaped with the rest of the kids. I'm still pretty sure that... Taeyla was one of the corpses. He had no problem burning all the photos of us and anything else she gave me that he could find."
"I guess I saw Harlequin as myself in that moment..." she chugs the last of the wine in her glass as if to swallow the tears building in her eyes.
Some time after the whole fiasco between Jester and Harlequin, Stormie decided to visit the purple tent. Going off the schedules she learned during her time under Doctor, there shouldn't be anyone else. Food was her preferred means of starting sincere talks, but scrapped that idea considering all the trust issues with humans. Hopefully, she can express it sincerely enough with words.
"Jester? May I have a moment of your time? I'd like to apologize. I take back what I said about comparing you to my father. I got too emotional when I said it, and I'm sorry."
*he closes his eyes, sighing softly* I expected as such. I did not like having to cage him..I was only doing what I thought was best for my family at the time. And I am not heartless and cruel towards them. I just... Made an unfortunate rash decision. *He turns to face her, half of his masked face covered in bandages* I do not expect you to forgive me or do I care.
"Figures you'd say that... It's not really my place to forgive anyway, I wasn't the one wronged. Still... I know actions mean more than words, so if there's anything I can help with, I'm pretty much free at the moment."
perhaps I can enjoy your company. For now. *He has a fool come over and pour them both some wine. He takes a sip from his glass.*
"Really? Well, alrighty," part of her had expected him to turn his nose up at spending time with her, but she accepts nonetheless, taking a seat next to him and tasting the wine offered, "Mm, thank you. I'm not really much of a drinker. If I do drink, it's usually rum mixed with something else like horchata, but this is pretty good, too."

*he kneels down and embraces Stormie, nuzzling and licking her cheek* I can finally hold you my dear...*he presses her against him* I...I will go help. Doctor is right, he needs my speed. But for right now, a moment with you my dear. *He kisses her on her lips, tail wagging back and forth behind him*
She kisses him back, trying to let herself simply enjoy the moment. Damn, did she miss these little acts of intimacy. Parting seemed painful, especially when she knows the moment is fleeting, but her lungs unfortunately did need air.
"Huff... huff... I hope this will be the last time I see you behind those bars. Next time, I'm just gonna straight up dismantle it bolt by bolt. Do what you think you need to do, I'll be here. Waiting with your kids. Just... promise to stay safe, ok?"
Stormie enters with a basket of hand-made snacks, "Did they get rid of the collar, hun? Are the kids still with you right now?"
Hello my dear. Yes to both questions. Pierrot... Must be talking to Jester since he's in the corner over there talking to a mirror. The children are asleep though.
"Well, they can wake up to some of my cooking then, and I made both of you your favorites..." she tried to offer cheerfully, but her tone carries something heavy, "..... I'm... really hoping Doctor can get you out of this sooner rather than later. I've honestly been trying to avoid Ticket Taker ever since Doctor made me one of his assistants."
Do what you must to keep safe my dear. *He flickers his tongue and raises his head, smelling the delicious food.* Mmm... I believe Doctor will succeed. He's a clever bird. *He holds out his arm through the bars with his hand open, wanting the treats*
"Yeah, I know... but just from what I know of the guy, he sounds pretty stubborn," she hands him the still warm basket of goodies for the growing family, "How's Paixao and Candy?"
