Clearly Reagan didn’t want him here, she still hadn’t forgiven him and had no intention to speak to him, yet she also couldn’t risk his attention being diverted from her. It wasn’t as if she could start her usual catty comments she would normally direct at him, not in front of Luna anyway. Casting another quick glance over her shoulder, she turned back to face him with a forced smile. “Positive. I’m a erm quick healer. Like it never happened.” Even she could hear the difference in her tone of voice, the forced niceness that almost sounded pained. “Momma, up.” A tug of her jeans alerted Reagan to her daughter’s presence well before any words were said, causing her breath to catch in her throat as she tried to keep the look of panic off her face. Having no other choice and wishing that she was anywhere but here, she turned slightly and bent down to hold her arms out so that Luna could wrap her chubby little arms around her neck. Turning a lot slower than necessary, Reagan once again faced Kieran with her stomach in knots, trying to distract herself she stroked one hand up and down the little girl’s back in comfort as she buried her head in her mother’s neck shyly. “What is it you wanted Kieran? I made my feelings quite clear at the hospital.”
His brow raised, but only slightly as he could see that she wasn’t exactly lying. She definitely was a quick healer based on her current physique. He was about to reply when he was interrupted by a voice much younger than either of theirs. He looked down, and he could almost feel his heart stop in his chest and looked somewhat as if he had seen a ghost. Now, it might have been jumping to assumptions here, but how could he be entirely sure when she’d barely even brought it up? And the child looked old enough... Thoughts raced in his mind as he watched the scene unfold before him and frankly, he was unsure of how to respond... and the best response for this situation. Where his attention had been solely focused on Reagan previously, his gaze now remained fixed on the child even as the brunette spoke. “I wanted to check on you,” he said after a moment, turning his attention to her. A moment longer and he spoke again. “You didn’t tell me.” He said, quiet and uncertain as his gaze dropped back to the child. A brief moment of eye contact caused Kieran to flash a smile and a give small wave in her direction.Â
