the young and beautiful ;
Aphrodite missed Dionysus. She really did. Not many people in Paris, sweet, darling Paris, could throw a party half as good as any of his. None of them appreciated her sparkly humor as much either. No, most of them were too content to fall over themselves in her presence––which, she had to admit, usually did its job to tickle her silly. But really! It had been far too long since she had seen her favorite Olympian, and far too long since they had partied together. She had it on good authority that this silly alcohol ban had nothing on good, old Dionysus. No sir, there would be no stopping the God of Wine and Madness from serving his purpose. Sometimes she paused to linger over a world without Riesling, without Chardonnay, without Merlot or Pinot Noir, and a part of her withered. A world without Dionysus was like a world without sun––appropriate, she found it, considering that no plant could grow without light. And Aphrodite could certainly not go a full two decades without seeing Dionysus again. It was simply not done. She had to find her old friend again. So she willed it, and it was. A seamless switch in identity and she had become the fair Ms. America Ford. Yes, that Ford. Men stared as she walked by, and whether it was out of disbelief or attraction was unimportant, she still smiled as she caught their eye. “Don’t suppose one of you kind gentleman could point me to...” She trailed off as she caught sight of Dio’s humble abode. “Never mind, it’s quite alright.” Rustling over to the small bricked building, Aphrodite took a moment to compose herself before barging straight in. She had the innate feeling that she’d only find Dionysus inside. Intuition was her area of expertise, right along with wearing her heart on her sleeve. As she entered, a chorus of birds began to chirp, loudly, incessantly, melodically. “Do you like it?” She grinned and the birds were quiet. “I thought they’d make a nice touch to my entrance!”

By this, the boy that by her side lay kill’d Was melted like a vapour from her sight, And in his blood that on the ground lay spill’d, A purple flower sprung up, chequer’d with white, Resembling well his pale cheeks and the blood Which in round drops upon their whiteness stood.

Modern! Ares && Aphrodite
How could she love me? (Even her hellos sounded like goodbyes.) I’ve been gone too long, too lost in the fading whispers of ghosts of pasts long gone. How could she love me? (I know her smiles were for only my sake.) She deserves more than I can offer, she is the ocean and I am but a grain of sand lost in her hurricane. How could she love me? (She can’t stand the sight of me.) I have nothing to give, no stardust in the palm of my hands or wonders to show, just a love that doesn’t seem to be enough. How could she love me? (I was the one that choked on those three words.) How could she love me When I was the one that collapsed?
Love is still foreign to me, I was never meant for such things. (M.M.)

Aphrodite enjoys milling about naked as much as she can. She sometimes misses when she would be able to do it in pubic, but has since settled on doing it at select places. She loves the freedom that comes with being clothed solely with her own confidence. To her, there’s nothing quite like it.
The American Dream ; 20s
Aphrodite previously lived in Paris, happy to masquerade there under the name “Alia”, sometimes working as a waitress when she felt like it, and sometimes happy to gallivant around the high society, clinking glasses and gaining admirers.
She grew quickly bored of this however, and reached out to Dionysus. Within hours she was in the U.S, her hair cropped short in an uneven bob, and with the name America Ford.
She took the name Ford from the inventor of the car, integrating herself into his family as one of his distant cousins. With the name as an extra little gem, she fit into the New Money society perfectly.
America’s personality evokes a lot of the same characteristics that Daisy, from The Great Gatsby has. There’s something dangerous about the boredom of her, because there’s no telling what she’ll do to stir up some fun for herself.
This era in the States makes her feel uneasy, considering there’s a lack of real emotion of love, and while she might enjoy the fun and games of it all, it unsettles her that there is no real capacity for feeling. Underneath her facade, even she feels unhappy, without the constant surge of warmth.
She drives like a nightmare when she can. That its socially unacceptable for a woman to drive infuriates her, but she “casts a spell” so to speak on anyone she crosses. Frankly, she thinks they should be more offended by her horrific driving skills than her reproductive organs, but oh well.
She owns a cat in this time period, naming him Oscar. The cat is ironically even more up itself and needy than she is.
Aphrodite’s scent for the decade is flowering lilacs. The scent is girlish, light and a little decadent even, at times, with champagne on her breath.

✫ Belief they have
Aphrodite believes that all sexual orientations are completely, 100% valid. Love is love, and this is an opinion that she’s held since she was born. Loving someone of the same sex, gender or even the same blood (cough, cough, hello, she’s Greek) is unimportant to her. What is important, is that the love is real.

✲ Something or someone they down right hate
Those who underestimate the power of love. Them who scoff at young love and call it immature, call it stupid, call it anything but what it is, and that is limitless. Those who are proud to be cynics, lonely in their rejection of true love and first, second, third kisses. The elitists who proclaim that love is a lie, and that pride and blood is more important. Those that don’t dare to hand hold, too proud to fall.
No, she screams at the top of her lungs, love is eternal, it is blood, it is pride, it is the water and clay and the beat of your heart. Do not underestimate love, she’ll swear, or it will ruin you.

p5 - Belle French as Aphrodite (Ἀφροδίτη, Aphroditē)
Goddess of love, beauty, desire, and pleasure. Although married to Hephaestus she had many lovers, most notably Ares, Adonis, and Anchises. She was depicted as a beautiful woman and of all the goddesses most likely to appear nude or seminude. Poets praise the radiance of her smile and her laughter. Her symbols include roses and other flowers, the scallop shell, and myrtle wreath. Her sacred animals are doves and sparrows. Her Roman counterpart was Venus.

parisian days ; aphrodite+apollo
Paris. How in the world had he ever found himself in this sad city- home of the trite, the cookie cutter and the continuous stream of street performers who only knew how to a) draw or b) play the accordion with an astonishingly off key accompaniment of a violin. It was enough to give him a headache, which was saying something. Congratulations humanity, you managed to make the god of music hate sound.
Sunglasses donned- god he needed to get out of this place- he looked up at his charge in the sky, turning the bright yellow closer to the dimmer grey of a cloudy afternoon as he moved through the sun-roofed section of the train station.
He stopped by a pillar to watch the announcement board, pushing the glasses up so they rested on the top of his head. And that’s when he noticed her- the unmistakable high-class figure of the only goddess who would actually enjoy the so called most romantic city in the world. He should’ve known.
He debated going up to talk to her for a while, before the infuriating violin started up somewhere behind him, and with that he decided that he’d much rather deal with someone he knew rather than listening to something he knew that was being butchered.
“You know,” he said, coming up behind her, voice a low English drawl, “a watched train just never shows up.” He’d been in enough of these places to know. Eventually he’d have to have a talk with Hermes about that.
She was at first, too consumed in her role to notice him coming up behind her. It was a fault of hers, always too consumed by something, whether it be shopping, or music, or the nature that surrounded her, it was always ‘throw yourself into it with passion’ or don’t do it at all. The role of an impatient heiress under cloudy skies was hardly any different. (Though sometimes she did forget her role. Was she a pauper or a princess, this time round? Educated or not? Did the slang fall from her lips with ease, or did she condemn the rats that flicked their tails in the form of the tongues of young boys and girls? When you were as ageless as her, it was hard to remember.) His voice was slow, aristocratic, finely tuned and to her ears, it was the definition of music. Unmistakable through every age. But then, that had always been Apollo. Personifying that which he was, she didn’t dare to say that the one thing that was truly original about him was his musical ability, and even then, who had really invented the lyre? The sun shone, dreary and drawn out, watery rays that turned whites to gray and the waters of the seine to murky, muddled blues. She wondered if Helios resented Apollo. And then she wondered if she cared. She was not like the rest of them. She was primordial. She was salt and foam and the glimmer of treasure beneath the waves. “Technically, the only thing I’m watching is the railroad.” She blew hot air past her lips and swept her sunglasses off. Her eyes twinkled mischievously. Her nails were a glossy cobalt. “And I thought you hated Paris.”

✦ Fatal flaw
Aphrodite’s fatal flaw might just be her ego. It’s an all encompassing feature that does not simply represent her complete belief that she is the most beautiful, but also that her love can, and will, conquer everything. She is willing to go to any and all lengths to protect her legacy; the legacy of Love.
✧ Mental or emotional strength
Positivity. Over the eons she’s lived, her positivity has gotten bigger and bigger with each lifetime. Certainly, she’s not always cheerful, and certainly, she’ s not always happy, but she has this positive fixture about her, some kind of negative repeller; When she smiles, she means it.
✩ Belief they've questioned/struggled with
She can’t quite decide if cheating is wrong or not. Before, she would have brushed it off with a laugh, but lately it’;s been a nag in the back of her mind, urging her to rethink her stance on it. But then again, if it’s in the pursuit of love, how could it possibly be wrong?
✰ Weird thing they want to try or have tried
She’d like to try living without her powers over Love for just one day. She’s always been a little too scared to relinquish her control, without it, she feels as though she could not possibly be able to navigate life without the constant pulse of love through her veins. How in the world do the brokenhearted survive?
✱ Someone or something who or that has played a part in a fantasy or daydream
A fantasy of hers is to have all the married men of Olympus vie for her attention, for all of them swarm to her like bees to their Queen.
