“That color is just marvelous on you,” she continues, watching as Carmen twirled. “And those shoes are just to die for.” She smiled at the other woman, taking a sip of her wine. “Tell me, how are you enjoying the evening so far?”
“I am enjoying it a great deal more now that I have the company of someone worthwhile,” Carmen said. She was avoiding the wine this time around. “How about you my darling?”
“Have you ever noticed every hurricane gets its name from a girl like this?”
Cleo walked in, everyone in town was there looking incredible in their formal clothing and mingling with one another. She grabbed herself a glass of white wine and continued on her way. “I love the way you’re dressed.”
Carmen smiled and looked at Cleo. “Thank you,” she said, doing a little spin to show off her dress, “I love your outfit too darling.”

Zaid looked at her. “Don’t act like we are friendly.” They paused and looked at her. “I would have guessed so cause those idiots did whatever you said.” They said as they sipped more water. “Is there anything important you need?”
“Aw now, where have your manners gone? Here I thought we could have a civil conversation, despite our previous disagreements.” She rolled her eyes. “There was nothing, no.” She crossed her arms, looking at Zaid. She turned around and took a step away, before she looked over her shoulder, “that gentleman you were with earlier, was that your partner? He seems lovely.” Is there a vague threat to her voice? Possibly. It’s hard to tell.

Betha smiled and looked at the darker haired woman. She bit her lip and chuckled. “Of course darling. I’m just returning home. I used to live here but moved then met a boy and he told me to wait for him but I guess i thought it’d be more fun to go find him.”

“I just recently returned myself, though I can’t say for sure how permanent it is.” She smiled, though internally she rolled her eyes at the thought of doing anything for a boy. “Who’s this boy you’re trying to find then? Perhaps someone I know?”

“Oh come on Hun you know i never really got along with you or the crowd you run around with. So why should I be fake and act like we were the best of friends. When we weren’t even friends” They said as they ran a hand through their hair. “Oh how sweet you actually care about something.”
"Sarcasm never suited you, dear, you should really drop it,” she said casually, and twirled her hair around her finger. “As for my crowd I really hope you don’t think I’ve been running around with the same people for the past four centuries? That would be dull. Harold is no longer among us, you’ll be pleased to hear.” Harold had been a vampire friend of hers when she first met Zaid, she’d only kept him around for a decade.
Jett sighed as he sat at the table with his daughter making sure she ate something instead of playing and coloring the entire time. “Hey. J can you please take a bite. Daddy will let you color if you eat at least half your plate.” He said to himself not seeing the person standing there.
Marcela looked at the man talking to his daughter. Of course Marcela wasn’t the name she’d used when dealing with him before, neither was Carmen, she used aliases for most things actually. When tipping him off about a small group of vampires that caused trouble for her she’d used the name Mina. “Fancy seeing you here, though I must say I’m not one for coloring.”

Zaid sighed as they heard the familiar voice next to him. “Carmen.” They said before sipping their water. They turned to the woman and looked at her. “What brings you to the quaint town of hawthorne?” They said as they stood there.
“Ah Zaid, you could at the very least refrain from sighing audibly when you see me, leave a girl some illusion that you’re happy to see her,” Carmen said, in her usual sugar sweet voice. “Oh I figured I’d make my way back, see what’s become of the town since I left.”
Betha smiled as she strut into the potluck. Hawthorne was a quaint little town that she enjoyed. Her blonde hair danced lightly on her shoulders and bounced with each step she took into the building. She recognized some faces but didn’t know any names. She grabbed her self a drink and scanned the room for a conversation of her old flame. She ran a hand through her hair before she turned to the nearest person. “I’m Betha. What’s your name?”
Marcela Carmen had made the decision to get herself a drink, it seemed the only reasonable thing to do at this event. She glanced at the person who was talking to her, fingers tapping on her glass as she decided whether or not to ignore the woman. Then she replied. “I’m Marcela, say I don’t believe I’ve seen you around before?”
Zaid sighed as they sat there at the potluck. Gareth had run off to the bathroom leaving them sipping on a drink alone. They sighed as they ran a hand through their hair. They bit their lip as they didn’t know many people around. They searched the room for a face they did know. When one surprisingly popped up infront of them. “Oh! Hey!”
“Hello,” Carmen looked the other up and down, taking a few seconds to establish an impression of the person in front of her. The party was boring so far, and she’d decided to take the opportunity to talk to people, try to figure out who was worth her time. “I noticed your partner taking off, so I figured you might want some company.”

“Get me f—fed?” She merely stuttered out, trying to make sense of it still. Things were happening so quickly, and it nearly felt like her skin was crawling as her anxiety reached an all time high. Though, the woman seemed to be better suited for this than she ever was. Feeling everything so vividly, she nodded slowly, trying to pull herself up. “There are hunters?” She nearly gulped back, rather oblivious to all of this. She had wanted this so badly, but never thought about all the consequences. “I…I’ll go with you, as long as it’s safe!”
“Yes, you’ll need blood. Don’t worry though, I have a supply and I’m willing to share if that’s what it takes to keep you from attracting hunters.” Marcela said. “And yes, there are hunters. They will be out for your head if you give them a reason to.” She began walking in the direction of her home, “this might be your best bet at safety for now.”
“I don’t know how to control this—I’m…I’m so thirsty, and I don’t know what to do!” Bailee found herself in the town after a night of backyard partying gone wrong, a twist of the neck, and waking up in the midst of a forest with a deep hunger ravaging her. Needless to say, she took a few victims lives on her hike in heels as she trekked into town, mostly disgusted with herself by the thought of consuming blood, and yet, it was all she could think about.
Newborns struggling for control wasn’t her business. She’d never bothered with humanitarian issues before, but this -she realized reluctantly- was a matter of self preservation. She looked the girl over, not making a great effort to disguise her condescending view of the other. “Look, right now you might as well be wearing a sign with NEWBORN on it to attract hunters. If you come with me I can get you away from prying eyes and we’ll get you fed.”

“One of the best, I’d say,” Cleo said, using her wand to straighten the crown on her head. “Is there a name I can call you, or am I just sticking with Elphaba for the night?”
“You may call me Carmen, or Marcela if you prefer. I answer to both.” The vampire smiled, looking at the other woman. “How about you, great witch?”

“Why have class when you crave attention?” she questioned back, “I’m sure the person behind it is all too happy right now that the town will be talking about them for the next week.” Wasn’t everything nowadays centered around individuals trying to garner attention whether negative or positive? It certainly felt like it most of the time. “Still not at all what I expected at some community center event.” It wasn’t like this was some type or fraternity hazing gone wrong or something.
“That attitude is the death of civilized society,” Marcela stated, as if she valued civilized society. She wasn’t always the classiest girl herself, but centuries alive had earned her the right to be somewhat hypocritical, at least in her own opinion. “The Hawthorne community center is something quite unique, though I’ll agree that something like this never would have happened last time I was here.”
Unpacking was never difficult when a person traveled as lightly as she did, and even though she had only moved in the day prior, Evelyn knew that she couldn’t miss a chance to casually get acquainted with a few (hopefully) supernatural members of the community. She had seen a flyer earlier that morning and she hadn’t been sure what to expect, but it certainly hadn’t been the iconic scene à la the 1970s Carrie that greeted her with nearly perfect timing. The crowd had dispersed for the most part and Evelyn had gotten a drink before striking up a conversation as casually as she could, “So, that whole… fiasco. Was that a more ‘punish them cause they’re perfect and popular’ or ‘bully them cause they’re absolute losers’? I just want to know what kind of town I’ve gotten myself into.”
“I wouldn’t know,” Marcela said, looking at the stranger. “I only just returned to Hawthorne myself, after a longer absence.” She was holding a glass of the vampire punch in her right hand, the other hanging casually by her side. “Either way it’s a tasteless prank in my opinion. Have people got no class anymore?”

“Oh dear, no, you couldn’t possibly be a wicked witch. Only bad witches are ugly, and you look good.” Cleo winked at the woman dressed as Elphaba.
“Thank you! That’s a fair point, I must be a good witch then.” Marcela smirked.
look! it’s KAYA SCODELARIO! no, it’s just MARCELA CARMEN LAZEL, the SIX HUNDRED THIRTY TWO year-old VAMPIRE. she is a BARTENDER at MOON AND SUN DANCE BAR and makes hawthorne a better place to live in. she is FRIENDLY and DRIVEN, but also SELFISH and RECKLESS. they’ve got a secret too, but only time will tell what they’re hiding.
