I’ve seen an ongoing thing here on tumblr recently….
Why is there suddenly a whole lot of fanfics infantilising reader? And while it’s not a new thing, it’s a bit scary to see. Like the fics could be amazing pieces of art, until those very specific acts that really get on my nerves….
If you’re curious on what acts im talking about, here’s a few examples. Brace yourselves.
Stomping her foot the same way a child does when they don’t get what they want..
Pouting excessively (she look stupid btw)
That god awful combo where she crosses her arms, turns her head to the side and “hmph!”’s 💀 oh and also expecting her partner “figure it out”…
Stands on her ‘tippy toes 🥺’ to kiss her man’s… 🤢
Clingy grabbing
Hiding behind their partner when shy…
Constant blushing
Constant clumsiness
Wears short short skirts.
Now let’s move on to descriptions that are lowkey infantilising. Both physical and personality wise.
Her being extremely helpless (I.e not being able to reach things, carrying stuff, etc..)
Codependent, cant do shit herself (minus aura)
Physical attributes most grown women don’t have (I.e. tiny hands, small body, big innocent eyes, soft baby face, etc)
her constant need to be saved…
Trying to make her dense, but write her as innocent instead???
Comparison to fragile things, like a porcelain doll.
Being manhandled way too much.
Oh and for the love of god, STOP DESCRIBING READERS EYES AS DOE EYES, EVERYBODY HAS DIFFERENT EYE SHAPES. If you want you ml to compliment readers eyes just describe it as “beautiful eyes”. Don’t go into details.
I really think this needs to be spoken about a lot more. It's really weird to make reader act like a child, as grown women don't do this?? It's very very weird, and as a reader, also just annoying.
A big thing i notice too (and this may or may not be infantilising) is reader also giving in to toxicity, or allowing toxic people back into their life?? It's something I really hate to see. Bring back badass reader who doesn't take shit from anyone, and won't settle for anything other than what they deserve!!
Operation True Love: Why Eunhyeok is a Bitch and DOWHA is the Only Endgame
Ugh, I seriously need to rant about this manhwa. Specifically, I need to talk about why Eunhyeok is trash and why DOWHA has to be the endgame. If you're not caught up— SPOILERS AHEAD! You've been warned.
Why I'm Done With Eunhyeok
Honestly, I can't stand the guy anymore. And before you come for me, hear me out-
The ghosting of Su-ae
The man ghosted Su-ae for 8 years! Eight! People keep saying, "Oh, he must have had a good reason," but no. I won't accept it. Two, three, maybe even four years while he's getting his life together? Fine. But 8 whole years without a single word? That's not a tough circumstance; that's a choice.
He didn't even give her a reason or a warning! You could argue he tried to call, but what about a simple text? If he had time to dial her number, he had time to fire off a one-line explanation. "Emergency. Have to leave the country. Will contact you when I can." Easy. He just didn't bother.
The nonchalant return
The absolute worst part? When he finally ran into her after eight years, he was completely nonchalant. No apology, no explanation, just... silence. He acted like nothing happened, as if Su-ae didn't deserve a single word of justification for the decade of confusion and pain he caused. She literally asked him why he left, and all we got was a "painful expression." Guess what, buddy? A pained look doesn't cut it when you've been gone for ten years. If my partner did that, there'd be no second chance. Period.
The Ra-im connection
This is the most unforgivable sin. He kept in touch with Ra-im! The girl who helped Su-ae's ex cheat! Eunhyeok knew how betrayed and heartbroken Su-ae was, and yet he maintained contact with the person who hurt her while completely abandoning his own girlfriend. I don't care if it was for a year or a minute; he ghosted Su-ae while still chatting with Ra-im. That feels like a second betrayal, and I'm furious for Su-ae.
Why DOWHA is the Only True Love
Now, let's talk about the man who is pure endgame material: Dowha.
Unconditional, unwavering love
Dowha's love for Su-ae is intense and most importantly, unconditional. It's been 8 years, and he's still not over her. The only reason he didn't contact her was because he probably thought she was still with Eunhyeok and he didn't want to complicate her life or ruin her happiness— even if that happiness was without him. That's not ghosting; that's selfless love.
He knows her
Dowha is the only one who truly sees and knows the real Su-ae.
Eunhyeok didn't know she was a writer.
Eunhyeok didn't know she was a beast at the arcade.
Eunhyeok didn't know she loved to sing in a karaoke room.
But Dowha knew all of it. Even after he became a famous movie star, he went to the same arcade just to break her high score! And what did he do when he won? He entered Su-ae's name on the leaderboard, giving her the win! I was absolutely screaming. This is true romance, people!
The novel foreshadowing
This is the biggest sign: Su-ae wanted to change her novel because she felt it was unfair to Grey (the second male lead). She wrote a whole alternate version where the FL ends up with him. And guess who Grey represents? DOWHA! They look alike, and both love the female lead unconditionally.
The manhwa's title is Operation True Love. I believe the author did this time skip to create an alternative universe—just like Su-ae's novel— where she finally ends up with Dowha. Plus, a small detail I love: it was mentioned before that the person with the lowest love points often ends up with the person who has the most, and we saw a frame of Dowha and Su-ae!
The best boyfriend material
Even when they're not officially together, Dowha is miles ahead. He constantly updates her about his life with cute texts, mirror selfies, and random thoughts, completely including her in his world. I don't remember Eunhyeok doing that when they were dating.
And let's compare their birthdays: Eunhyeok just wished her a simple happy birthday. Dowha, now that he has money, takes her to the arcade and karaoke— the things she loves— in his luxurious car, and straight-up confesses his feelings. He's making up for all the time lost when he couldn't afford to spoil her.
Dowha is Grey. He is the true endgame. If Su-ae chooses Eunhyeok after all this, I swear, I'm dropping the manhwa and hating her forever.

First time on Tumblr, so excited!
Also my first time making a meme animation!
My English isn't great, so everything's machine-translated!
The drawing's messy, the animation's rough, and there are tons of bugs—please forgive me!
I haven't figured out how to set a video cover yet, so I'll just post them separately!
So happy to make memes for Pierrot! Of course, I love the other circus members too!
Looking forward to the game's future storylines! I'll try to keep making these memes.
shigaraki x reader masterlist for when canon drops the ball
this is a masterlist for all my hurt/comfort, fluff, fixit, canon-divergence, or 'after the end' fics...which I realize, now that I write that, is quite a few of them.
the new postmodern age
Before the war, you were nothing but a common criminal, but in the world that's arisen from the ashes, you got a second chance. Five years after the final battle between the heroes and the League of Villains, you run a coffee shop in a quiet seaside town, and you're devoted to keeping your customers happy. Even customers like Shimura Tenko, who needs a second chance even more than you did -- and who's harboring a secret that could upend everything you've tried to build. Will you let the past drag both of you down? Or will you find a way, against all odds, to a new beginning?
criminal-in-recovery!reader, post-canon, fixit, Shigaraki lives, society improves somewhat. rated M. Complete.
Enough to Go By
Your best friend vanished on the same night his family was murdered, and even though the world forgot about him, you never did. When a chance encounter brings you back into contact with Shimura Tenko, you'll do anything to make sure you don't lose him again. Keep his secrets? Sure. Aid the League of Villains? Of course. Sacrifice everything? You would - but as the battle between the League of Villains and hero society unfolds, it becomes clear that everything is far more than you or anyone else imagined it would be.
childhood friend!reader, canon divergence. Rated M. ONGOING
Opposites Attract
Your quirk lets you capture almost anyone with ease, and you can't believe you let Shigaraki Tomura escape. Shigaraki can't believe it, either, and according to the League, there's only one possible explanation -- you let him go because you've fallen in love with him. He decides to find out if it's true. You decide you won't fail to capture him again. You both get a lot more than you bargained for.
underground hero!reader, anemic Shigaraki, canon divergence. rated T. Ongoing.
the one
You made a deal with Fate to grant Shigaraki Tomura a long and happy life, but that came at a cost - in the world your wish created, the two of you never met. But his life isn't the only one your wish changed, and as you struggle to carry the burden of a past that exists only in your memory, you find your path crossing with old friends and former enemies in a way you never expected. Can you build a life worth living in the aftermath of everything you've seen and done? Can you do it without the person you changed everything for? Or will you and Tomura, against all odds, find your way back to each other one more time?
LoV!reader, time travel/fixit/deliberate creation of an AU. tw: substance use, overdose, angst. Rated M. Ongoing.
Designated Villain
You loved BNHA's ending, mostly, but a few weeks after the last chapter is published, you get isekaied into BNHA on the day the story begins. That would be a dream come true, except you ended up in the body of a common criminal, and instead of enjoying life in your favorite fictional world, you find yourself struggling to survive in a world that's much crueler than you ever imagined. Armed with nothing more than BNHA Tumblr brainrot and a highly suspicious iPod Shuffle, you set out to fix the few things that are wrong with BNHA's ending. But as you learn more about the villains you hated and every change you make pushes the plot further off the canon storyline, it's not long before your feelings about the ending start to change.
hero fan!reader, canon divergence, slow burn. Rated M. Ongoing.
