Afghan refugee Iaiba Hazrat, aged 6, at a slum on the outskirts of Pakistan’s capital, IslamabadÂ
Safe to say that this one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking photos I’ve seen in a long time
Her hair is literally a sunset.
Laiba means the most beautiful angel in all the heavens. Her name suits her so much.Â

Breast ironing is the pounding and massaging of a pubescent girl’s breasts, using hard or heated objects, to try to make them stop developing or to disappear. It is typically carried out by the girl’s mother who will say she is trying to protect the girl from sexual harassment and rape, to prevent early pregnancy that would tarnish the family name, or to allow the girl to pursue education rather than be forced into early marriage. It is mostly practiced in parts of Cameroon, where boys and men may think that girls whose breasts have begun to grow are ready for sex. My thoughts are that I just wish we didn’t live in a world where a girl has to be physically mutilated in order to feel safe from rape and harassment.Â
I’ve always found it odd that something like rape, which is done to a person without their consent, somehow brings shame to the family? Like a bad thing happening to you isn’t shameful what the hell. Guess that says something about where the blame for rape is placed. This is so sad.
EXACTLY how I feel. It enrages me.Â
THIIIIIIIS
This makes me so angry. the world has reached the point of shittiness where people have to resort to this kind of action. THATS JUST WRONG.
