Alright, so here’s the deal.

I’ve tried taking breaks and coming back to this blog several times now, but it just isn’t working. I gave myself until Black Sails was done airing, and now the muse is really slipping. I’ve struggled with this blog as long as I can remember, and everytime I log in I feel anxious and horrible, and as a result I’ve lost contact with pretty much everyone, so that makes me feel twice as bad. I hate bringing personal drama to the dash so I guess I suck at keeping people notified ^^;

In a last ditch effort to save this muse, because I will be really sad if she disappears for good, I’m going to be remaking again under a different url. I won’t be broadcasting the url in public and will probably keep her to very few partners. I won’t be doing it today, because my normal computer is busted atm, but probably soon. So that’s where that’s at?  I apologise for my horrid anxiety and anti-socialness. I’m still on my myriad of Black Sails blogs too :) They’re still a mess right now, but yeah.

I was just going to reply to your post without reblogging it but I feared my reply may have gotten long-winded.  You’re absolutely right in everything you’re saying here about Vane.  I have no regards that Vane would not, given the chance, take that gold for himself and kill Flint for it without a second’s thought.  He’d give Eleanor her share to do what she likes with Nassau, but he’d take the rest to make himself filthy rich - not for anyone else.

Yes.  Flint has every right to both call Vane a madman and to hate him being in such a position of power as Steward of the Fort.  Flint has every right to be suspicious of Vane being in a place of power, especially if that place of power makes things difficult for Flint.  I mean, it’s no secret that Vane hates Flint and vice versa.  Therefore, if Vane is suddenly in a place where he can hold something above Flint you can bet your ass he’s going to do it.

Now, Flint’s openly challenged him which means Vane’s only reaction is to try and throw a punch back.  Flint must know exactly as Eleanor told him, that Vane won’t back down to demands.  It hits on one thing each of these men have to be careful with - their reputation.  Vane’s, especially.  He’s already been stripped of crew and ship in the past in front of all of Nassau, he can’t just bow out and give up the fort at the first sign of retaliation.  Else wise the entirety of the island would scoff at him, as would his crew.  It’d make him look weak.  On the same hand, if Flint suddenly backs down now that Vane isn’t backing down, it’s going to make Flint look weak.

Basically, I wanted to reply to your post that whoever is trying to make Flint seem stupid for mistrusting Vane is not watching the same show I am.  Flint has every right to not want Vane in that fort and to not want him near any position of power that could upset what he’s been working toward (the gold and such).

See that I can understand, and Vane's trying to survive and stay on top as much as anyone, and I totally respect that. And I'm so glad I have you to talk to about it, because you always put things so kindly and respectfully and I know you really love Vane a lot, and as I've said before it's you I have to thank for me starting to like and understand him.

It's just wandering in the Black Sails tag and everyone's suddenly calling out Flint to be the madman and the one totally in the wrong and I'm just over here like neither of them has a moral highground here??? Like I just feel out of all the trash things Flint has done lately, this is the one they pick at him for? I feel soooooooooooo bad for Eleanor right now, I'd be totally curled up in a ball drinking too lol. There's just this sudden trend of people trashing other characters to prop up their faves and i'm like 'but none of them are helping???' ._. I hope I didn't upset you! I sincerely don't hate Vane I just. And I know I'm not really helping fandom woes so blacklist it is but yeah ^_^;;

I'm laughing because apparently the admin stuff for Scotland Yard (for Lizzie's modern verse) is apparently run out of the Empress State Building. Hahaha It's fate. Does this mean she's gonna end up running the entire police force one day?

Flint's done a lot of horrid things, and very likely may be going mad, as that is indeed where book canon heads. But Vane DID openly express interest in sinking his ship and stealing his gold on two different occasions (in both viii and ix). And then when Flint confronts Eleanor about it, she can't even answer him to reassure him he won't, she evades his question. He may or may not have gone through with it, I still don't know Vane's character well enough to decipher that, but don't act like Flint's totally crazy when Vane has openly stated he would be willing to do such a thing (and sure maybe he didn't say it to Flint directly, but that still doesn't change that Vane has said. Twice. Flint should have absolutely tried to do something else to ease things and I totally cringed at the end of last night. But Flint's suspicions aren't coming from nowhere. And considering that last time Flint saw Vane, Eleanor had stripped him of everything in anger and took him out of the deal? With only Eleanor's word when she's at an emotional crossroad?

And no this is not a hate post; I don't hate Vane, and I openly admit that I do not fully understand his character. But it's not as if Flint has zero basis for what he thinks.

Holy cow. First off, let me just say that when I started this blog, I never expected to get more than maybe ten followers total, let alone over two hundred in less than a month and a half.
